But Nakazakicho, just a ten-minute walk from Umeda, is a huge surprise Osaka gave me. Every time I go, I’m willing to spend half a day strolling slowly✨ This area is artistic and romantic, totally different from the Osaka I imagined! Coffee shops, dessert places, vintage stores, and art exhibitions are as dense as stars. It preserves many buildings from the Showa era, vintage and full of artistic atmosphere~ Each small shop’s facade is thoughtfully designed. Wandering without a specific goal, you’ll find new discoveries around every corner—it’s truly healing! If you don’t take your time, you can finish walking around in two hours, but if you want to savor every small shop, you can spend the whole day~ Like a low-key coffee shop I like, with an inconspicuous sign and no photos allowed, I can sit there zoning out for an entire afternoon! But 🍃Nakazakicho🍃, just a ten-minute walk from "Umeda," is a place I’m always willing to spend half a day exploring. It’s artistic and romantic, unlike typical Osaka, and it’s definitely the best area in Osaka for CityWalk, bar none! - This neighborhood, rich in coffee, desserts, vintage shops, and art exhibitions, preserves many buildings and styles from the Showa era. It’s quiet, retro, and full of artistic vibes. Most small shops have unique and exquisite storefronts. Just wandering around without a specific goal feels interesting, and every corner holds a surprise~ - If you don’t explore in detail, two hours is enough, but if you want to slowly check out each small shop, you can easily spend most of the day here. For example, there’s a coffee shop I adore, with a low-key sign and a no-photography policy. Just this one shop alone can keep me seated all afternoon... Everyone can find their favorite spot here~ - Here are some of my ❤️ favorite shops: - 🍵 Utena Kissaten Opposite the Hakuryu Daijin mini shrine ⛩️, the sign is very inconspicuous. For my next trip to Osaka, I’ve decided to take a slightly unconventional route. While Universal Studios Japan and the Expo sound fun, this time I’m skipping them to savor the local charm of Osaka! ⸻ ■ Day 1: Retro Streets and Neon Lights in Osaka First stop: Umeda Sky Building. I’ve heard the view from the Floating Garden Observatory is breathtaking, so I’m hoping for clear skies. It seems great both during the day and at night, so I’ll decide the timing based on the weather. Next, I’ll head to Nakazakicho, which is within walking distance. This area is lined with retro cafes and stylish shops, perfect for taking lots of photos. I’m looking forward to relaxing in a café housed in a renovated traditional home. For the evening, it’s off to Dotonbori! I’ll take the classic photo in front of the Glico sign and enjoy street food like takoyaki from Wanaka and okonomiyaki from Kiji. I’m excited for a feast of Osaka’s rich and hearty B-grade gourmet delights. ⸻ ■ Day 2: Downtown Vibes and Stunning Views of Osaka On the second day, I’ll start my morning in Shinsekai. #OsakaAttractions Dear friends, every time I visit Osaka, Nakazakicho is a must-visit spot for me! This place is truly a never-ending treasure land, with cafes, boutique shops, restaurants, vintage stores, craft shops, bars... everything you can imagine! This time in Nakazakicho, I discovered a super interesting studio café. The first floor is the coffee-making area, filled with the rich aroma of coffee; the second floor is the office; and the third floor is a boutique shop with casual seating. Sitting on the third floor, sipping aromatic coffee surrounded by carefully selected fashion items is just so relaxing! Here, you can not only enjoy delicious coffee but also pick out unique fashion pieces, perfect for a city walk. Strolling through the streets of Nakazakicho, every shop hides a different surprise. I felt like I hadn’t been to cafes often because of my busy Japan itinerary, so I took a day off and went to two cafes. 'Cafe mizuiro' I was wondering where to go, and as a person who is very picky, I ended up going into a place that caught my eye while passing by. I was drawn in by the dessert visuals and ended up having two desserts by myself, haha. While enjoying the desserts alone, I searched to see if there were any famous cafes nearby, and found a place known for its pudding, so I got up to go check it out. This famous pudding spot is 'OSA COFFEE' As expected, it was popular and there was a wait, but luckily I didn’t have to wait long and got a seat outdoors. Both places were delicious!!!
