Shunde Mingshi Garden | A century-old garden hidden in the countryside.
🌸 Shunde Mingshi Garden was built in the late Qing Dynasty, a time of great change. The owner of the garden accumulated a huge fortune with his keen business sense and unremitting efforts. To show his status and taste, he carefully built Mingshi Garden.
🌳 The layout of Mingshi Garden is very exquisite. Outside the garden, there is a three-story guard tower. Inside the garden, there are three main parts: the living area, the small western-style building, and the courtyard. He Mingshi was exposed to overseas culture from an early age, so this garden cleverly integrates Western styles, and the ancient architecture of the late Qing Dynasty complements the Western architecture. The main house is a traditional "wok ear house", while the west wing is a small western-style building full of Baroque style. The private garden has both Chinese-style pavilions and Baroque-style arches and fountains, which are very charming.
🔅 The garden combines Chinese and Western architectural styles. The Chinese-style pavilions and buildings with flying eaves and brackets show traditional oriental charm, while the Western-style arches and columns add an exotic touch. This is not only a fusion of architectural art, but also a witness to the exchange of Eastern and Western cultures in that era.
🍁 Today, Mingshi Garden has become a historical landmark of Shunde. When people walk in, they seem to be able to touch the past and feel the wisdom and courage of their ancestors. It is not only a garden, but also a living history book, telling the stories of the past to future generations.
