Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring | You must visit this special desert for taking amazing photos ❗️
Chengdu self-driving to Dunhuang.
✨Mingsha Mountain
To the east of the Mingsha Mountain is the Sanwei Mountain, to the south is the Heishi Peak Mountain, and to the west is the Gobi and Kumtag Desert. The west wind and north wind, carrying more sand, are blocked by the mountain here, causing the sand particles in the wind to settle down over time, forming the Mingsha Mountain. Under the influence of the wind, the Mingsha Mountain "remains unchanged after a night of wind, with its tracks still visible", always maintaining a certain height and shape. For thousands of years, the Mingsha Mountain still stands tall, and the sound of sand still echoes in the ears. The Qingming Shangming of the Sand Ridge is one of the eight scenic spots in Dunhuang. Dunhuang, formerly known as Shazhou, was named after this place.
✨Crescent Spring
Crescent Spring is a clear spring nestled in the Mingsha Mountain, shaped like a dark moon, hence the name "Crescent Spring". Crescent Spring was formed under the internal and external dynamic conditions of tectonic movement, flowing water, and wind geological effects in loose geological structures, low-lying terrain, and regional high groundwater levels. Despite the changing of stars and the howling of wind and sand, Crescent Spring still shines like a bright mirror with its clear blue water. The coexistence of sand and water, and the interdependence of mountain springs have created the world wonder of "the first spring in the desert".
1⃣For leisure travel, you can follow this route: Mingyue Square Archway - Camel Riding - East Peak of Mingsha Mountain - Tiebeiyu Park - Crescent Spring.
2️⃣Learn about the stories and legends of Couple Willow and Medicine King Temple Site.
3⃣Inside Yuege, you can take a photo with the popular coffee and the latte art is quite unique.
4️⃣The sun is strong, make sure to protect yourself from sunburn.

Desert fun
The desert can be harsh, difficult and dangerous. But also incredibly beautiful and exciting.
In Gansu province there is a huge desert which is full of life. Not green life but human life. It's become an attraction for fun. Formed around a Cresent Lake, it's become a form of Oasis
You can ride ATV quad vehicles across the sand, admire the sweeping awesome beauty of the sand and skyline. You can ride camels, and even check out the camel crossing which is a surreal sight.
There are also sky activities such as helicopter and gliding. There is more to the desert than just sand

Into the desert we go 🌵🐫
Flying to Dunhuang and visiting the Cresent Spring and Echo Sand Mountains. What a day! The weather was perfect , there were so many activities to do but our time was limited.
The main activity was riding a Camel for an hour, which was so cool . Climbing a sand dune, which was tough but luckily for us you could choose between walking up on your own or using some sort of climbing stair. When you get half way down the dune, you can either walk , run or slide down. We ended off with enjoying a VR hot air balloon. What a great experience!
The desert was definitely one of the best activities of our trip.

Mingsha Mountain crescent moon spring
Crescent spring in dunhuang is located at the foot of mingsha mountains ,
we hired a private taxi from the station and headed straight for it and spent the evening there and saw a beautiful sunset from one of the sand dunes and later checked into stay for the night book near by at a camping site in the desert, which was close by the mingsha mountains
Food & Restaurants - there are no restaurants nearby as such so would have to enjoy the hotpot or barbecue options available at your accommodations for the night
Shopping - there are many souvenir shops and local crafts shop at the entrance to the crescent spring attraction , the most beautiful part is the traditional dress rentals around that get your styling and makeup done for a photoshoot at the sand dunes.
we opted to just enjoy the scenery and a beautiful sunset from atop the sand dunes

Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring
once you arrive in Dunghuang (by train or by flight, these are the best options), will be easy to get a taxi and arrive there.
there are many restaurants before the entrance, you can eat something before to enter as probably you're going to spend a lot of time inside
we went to watch the sunset and it was super beautiful, one of the best sunset in China.
even if the city arrive very close to the desert, once you're inside you feel you're in the middle of nowhere.
there are many activities to do inside the desert like ride the camel, drive the quad(actually you just drive for a short distance, the rest is the guide with you who drives), and other activities.
so you can enter in the afternoon, do some activities and then watch the sunset

Crescent spring in beautiful desert
Mingsha mountain is literally translated to the “Singing sand mountain) which is about 5km from Dunhuang city center. The natural phenomenon of singing sand from wind makes the name. Beautiful sand dunes not far from city and the crescent spring in the middle attract visitors from all over the country. It is particularly pretty during sunset. You can rent shoe covers if you don’t want sand goes in your shoes.

An oasis in the middle of the dessert 🏝.
Like a mirage seen on a hot summer’s day, the dunes peek out from behind the high rise buildings, tempting you towards them. We spent the majority of the day exploring the stunning dessert landscape, where you can do anything from riding a camel or helicopter to paragliding and sand surfing. Or you know, just sit peacefully to enjoy the view 🧘🏻
🏝 Dunhuang is a pretty small city compared to many others in China, so to get to this beautiful oasis, you can walk (if you’re staying in a hotel nearby) or take a bus!
🏝 While the dunes are beautiful, and you could easily just spend an afternoon playing in the sand, if you want to take part in any of the on-site activities (helicopter ride, camel ride, ATV, paragliding, etc) you’ll need to pay extra.
🏝 If you’re happy to pay a higher premium for a helicopter ride, I’d thoroughly recommend it! While pricey, you get an incredible birds eye view of the lake itself.

Visitors to Dunhuang in far Western Gansu Province, definitely want to visit the Crescent Moon Spring and the Singing Sands Mountain. These enormous sand dunes are amazing and legend tells that travelers would hear distant voices from nearby ridges. Wandering in the direction they thought they’d find people, these travelers would become lost and disoriented in the endless sands.

Rence
A large piece of reed swaying makes Mingsha Mountain have a feeling of autumn. For me, it is a rare and memorable memory to see the beauty of its different seasons.
Wearing a red dress walking on the Mingsha Mountain, feeling the unique northwest style is what I always wanted to do. When I walked here, I suddenly understood the true meaning of travel and life.
This time I finally fulfilled the desert style I wanted. I really love this series of ducks today~
tips: Tickets 110 yuan/person, riding a camel 100 yuan/person
xiaoyingziangel.
In order to see the sunrise in the desert, it was early in the morning, at 4 o'clock in the morning, I felt that the whole person was still alive. Mingsha Mountain in the morning, walking barefoot on the top is particularly comfortable, soft sand, cold and cold. We climbed a hill and waited quietly. The sunrise here is beyond my imagination. It is not a red yolk, but a pearl, small and beautiful, quite eye-catching, and beautiful things are nothing more than this. The camel team is also there early in the morning, but riding a camel can only watch the sunrise halfway. Also, if you have a trip to see the sunrise, you must first buy the ticket the day before yesterday, and brush the fingerprint on the next day to enter the scenic spot. Otherwise, there is no ticket sales in the early morning.

Mingsha Mountain is still the Mingsha Mountain. The Crescent Moon Spring is no longer the Crescent Moon Spring...
Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Moon Spring are a pair of twin sisters in the desert Gobi. Water is good for God." There is indeed a sense of "Mingshashan Yiyi, Crescent Moon Springs".
The Crescent Moon Spring is surrounded by high sand mountains with a small lake shaped like a crescent. Mingsha Mountain will make a sound when it is sunny or when someone slides down from the mountain, so it is called Mingsha Mountain. There is also a strange phenomenon here. Because of the terrain, the sand does not go down the mountain when it is windy, but flows down the mountain from the mountain. , so the Crescent Spring will never be buried by the sand, known as the Desert Wonders...
cesar.
The peaks of Mingsha Mountain in Dunhuang are undulating and golden. When he is quiet, the ups and downs of the mountain outline a soft line, like a soft satin, spreading from the bottom to the far side; when the wind blows up However, it seems that there are thousands of horses galloping, making a huge noise, coming from all directions. Such contradictory beauty is singularly integrated into the Mingsha Mountain in Dunhuang, and people can't help but sigh the wonders of nature.

Mingshashan Crescent Spring!
Riding a camel and feeling the desert sands. a curved spring
Thousand_Sails.
I believe that everyone has a travel destination in mind. Just like many people have to go to Tibet once in a lifetime, and my obsession is Dunhuang. Go to the sand-sand desert, Mingsha Mountain, and see the moon-free spring in the Mingsha Mountain.
I am full of all the good imaginations, and the moment I can see it shocks me.
I imagined its vastness, but I didn't expect it to be like silk, sand peaks like a blade;
I imagined it was clear and bright, but I never imagined it to be as delicate as a crescent.
Thank you, Crescent Moon Spring, Mingsha Mountain, round my dreams.
Practical small Tip: Riding a camel for 100 yuan per person, the journey is about 1 hour. Let the camel person help to take a photo of 20 yuan, the technology is not bad.
Mingshashan is very dry, super invincible sun, must do a good job of sun protection. I have already blacked out two color numbers.
Sarah Shan.
My desert travel blockbuster is coming, hahahaha...
When I mentioned going to Mingshashan, the first thing I thought was the red dress? This time, let's make a difference, and make a cool "women's satay".
Take outdoor photos, remember two words: dynamic!
Run Jump Walk with you, just move it, the photo must be captured. If you don't have a photo technology, you will always choose a photo of your heart.
yarn long coat, be sure to choose a light texture so that you can fly with the wind.
Headwear, increase the exotic atmosphere of the desert.
Sunglasses, the best props for sunscreen.
Pair it with a little exquisite earrings or necklaces!
Sarah Shan.
Mingsha Mountain in Dunhuang is a treasure on the ancient Silk Road. It is the most classic way to ride a camel in the scenic area. Then you can climb the moon and watch the sunset. It can be said that Mingsha Mountain can satisfy all my illusions about the desert, and it can also make you feel awe in nature. It is worth noting that Dengsha Mountain needs a certain amount of physical strength, especially the more tired it will be. When going down the mountain, it is quite easy, but it is easy to pour sand into the shoes. It is recommended to rent a shoe cover outside the scenic spot. Don't ask me how I know it. It is a lesson learned in the field!

7 days 3,000 yuan, girls alone in the northwest
first declare that I am not a poor swim, but only chose the wrong peak travel.
Line: Chengdu-Xining-Lanzhou-Dunhuang-Jiayuguan-Zhangyu-Urumqi-Chengdu
The whole journey is 7 days, the two-way plane, the rest are all trains. In Zhangye and Dunhuang, they chose to charter a car.
Cost: The main big head is traffic, round-trip planes, trains, and chartered cars are about 1900. The low seasons are very cheap, with an average of 100 or so per night. The rest of the tickets and food are rare, especially in the off-season.
:
: divided into east and west lines, east line must go to Mogao Grottoes, Mingsha Mountain Crescent Springs
West Line must go to Dunhuang Ancient City, Yangguan, Yumenguan, Yadan Devil City
Jiayuguan: Jiayuguan 3 scenic spots
Zhang Wei: Colorful Danxia, Binggou Danxia, Dafo Temple
Urumqi: Tianchi (in fact, general, but the time is short and beautiful can not go), Wushi City ( Hongshan Park, Grand Bazaar, Uygur Autonomous Region Museum)
About the photo wear
winter cold, with too much clothes is not very convenient, so the concave shape mainly depends on hats and other accessories.
I brought a long down jacket, two woolen coats, and a red cloak.
About self-timer
Because it is a person walking alone in the northwest, it is mainly based on self-timer. With a tripod, set a ten-second self-timer, and always take a few more shots. For special scenes, such as desert or snow, adjust the parameters for a good focus and find a passerby to help click.

Suddenly, I want to go to Dunhuang.
That land in the northwest,
seems to have a mysterious power,
constantly calling in my heart.
Imagine stepping on that ancient land,
you can touch the context of history,
feel the precipitation of time.
Dunhuang is a living history book.
The Thousand Buddha Caves of Mogao Grottoes, those exquisite murals, are the crystallization of the wisdom and art of the ancients.
Every stroke is delicate and vivid, every color seems to tell a story.
Standing in the cave, looking up at the full wall of brilliance, thoughts can't help but travel through thousands of years, returning to that prosperous era.
Artisans used their hands to create such shocking art treasures, allowing future generations to appreciate the charm of ancient civilization.
Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring is a masterpiece of nature.
The golden sand dunes undulate, shining under the sun.
When the breeze blows, the sand flows, making a pleasant sound, as if it is a movement played by nature.
And that clear crescent spring, like a pearl inlaid in the desert, brings vitality and hope to this desolate land.
Climb to the top of the sand dunes, overlooking the beauty of Crescent Spring, and a sense of awe for nature arises in my heart.
Yumen Pass is a witness to history.
Standing in front of this ancient pass, it seems that you can see the golden horses and iron horses and the merchants coming and going thousands of years ago.
The wind and sand of the years have eroded its appearance, but the majestic momentum still shocks people.
Every brick and stone seems to tell the glory and vicissitudes of the past.
Dunhuang World Geopark, feel the magical power of nature.
Here, you will see various strange wind erosion landforms, such as castles, streets, buildings, squares, churches, sculptures, etc., which are vivid and vivid.
The wind erosion landforms here are varied, some are like pagodas, palaces, haystacks, golden peacocks standing tall and looking far away, eagles ready to fly, fleets breaking through the waves in the sea, warriors with angry eyes, and some are like beautiful women.
Dunhuang's food is also a part that people yearn for.
Donkey meat noodles, the noodles are strong, the donkey meat is delicious, and the combination is memorable. Mutton stewed cake, the mutton is tender and juicy, the cake absorbs the fragrance of mutton, and the taste is rich. There is also the sweet and delicious apricot peel water, which is refreshing and thirst-quenching, and is the best drink in summer. Tasting these delicacies, it seems that you can also feel the enthusiasm and boldness of Dunhuang people.
The night in Dunhuang is quiet and mysterious. The starry sky is brilliant, as if within reach. Walking on the ancient streets, feeling the breeze, my heart is extremely peaceful. Those ancient buildings exude unique charm in the night, as if they have traveled back to ancient times.
Suddenly, I really want to go to Dunhuang immediately. To experience the profound historical culture, to appreciate the magnificent natural scenery, to taste the delicious local food.
In Dunhuang, find inner peace and satisfaction, and let your soul be baptized.

1. Mingsha Mountain is located in Dunhuang City, Gansu Province, a natural wonder that combines sand dunes, oases and lakes. It is named after the sound of the sand dunes in the wind, like a ringing bell. I heard that the sand here is golden, and stepping on it feels like stepping on gold, it's incredibly beautiful! The climate here is distinct in four seasons, hot and dry in summer, mild in autumn and winter, the best time to visit.
Under the sun, the sand dunes shimmer with golden light, and the blue sky makes it look like a painting. And every time the sun sets in the west, the entire sand mountain is dyed orange, giving you an unparalleled visual experience, absolutely not to be missed!

We couldn't wait to head to the sand dunes, barefoot on the fine sand, the feeling is amazing! Here you can choose sandboarding, the feeling of sandboarding is like flying, the wind whistling in your ears, laughing freely.
Next, we rented a camel and prepared to experience a "desert journey". The moment I got on the camel, I felt like an explorer, traveling through the desert in time and space. The camel walks steadily, the swaying feeling is very interesting, everyone can't help but laugh!
At the highest point of the sand dunes, we stopped to rest, the scenery in front of us is breathtaking! The distant Crescent Moon Spring shimmers with blue light, forming a stark contrast with the sand dunes, it's truly a paradise on earth.
3. Food recommendations
In Dunhuang, besides the beautiful desert scenery, there are also super delicious food waiting for you! We chose to dine at a place called "Dunhuang Restaurant", the environment is also very good, feels a bit local.
I highly recommend their "Dunhuang Hand-Grabbed Mutton", tender mutton with unique spices, it's simply delicious! There is also "Yellow Rice Flour Cake", crispy outside and soft inside, with homemade chili sauce, it's really addictive.
In addition, Dunhuang's "Sweet Almond" is also a must-try delicacy, sweet with a slight bitterness, super refreshing! If you like cold drinks, try "Sour Milk", sweet and sour, especially suitable for relieving heat in hot weather.
4. Precautions
When visiting Mingsha Mountain, pay attention to a few things! First, due to the high sand dunes, be sure to pay attention to safety when sandboarding, it is best not to go alone to avoid falls and injuries. It is recommended to wear light sports shoes and long pants to avoid sand getting into your shoes.
Second, the sun is strong, so be sure to do a good job of sun protection! Sunscreen, sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats are all essential to avoid sunburn! Also, remember to bring enough water, staying hydrated is important.
5. Personal experience sharing
This Mingsha Mountain trip left me with countless beautiful memories! Running and sandboarding on the sand dunes is incredibly fun, especially when taking photos at sunset, the interplay of light and shadow is like a movie.
We met a local old man on the sand dunes, he enthusiastically told us the story of Mingsha Mountain, and took us to see some hidden sand dunes, where there are almost no tourists, you can feel the tranquility of nature.
What touched me the most was when we were riding camels slowly, we saw the sunset dyeing the entire sand sea red, at that moment, I really felt that life is so beautiful, worth cherishing!
Overall, Dunhuang Mingsha Mountain is truly a charming place, whether it's the magnificent natural scenery or the rich cultural history, it makes you linger. If you also yearn for a close encounter with nature, come here! I believe you will be as attracted to this sand sea as I am!
