The winter is gradually getting stronger in Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum
🌟Highlights:
🌟Highlights:
Just into December, a cold wave suddenly blew into Nanjing, and the temperature dropped by seven or eight degrees. Thinking that there should not be many people traveling in such cold weather, I invited a few good friends to drive directly into the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum scenic area to see the golden ginkgo and appreciate the red maple leaves.
Unexpectedly, as soon as the car entered the scenic area, I saw a constant stream of tourists coming and going. Under the ginkgo tree and in the maple forest, long guns and short cannons and mobile phone poles were incompatible with each other, competing for superiority. The red maple and ginkgo reflected each other, casting mottled soft light in the warm sun of winter.
❤Recommended reason:
Coming to the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum scenic area is not just to see the mausoleum, its natural environment is also first-class. No matter spring, summer, autumn or winter, it has beautiful scenery and colors that make people linger. Although the ticket price is not cheap, it still does not reduce the interest of tourists. Free for 70 years old, half price for over 60 years old, shuttle bus is not free🙅🏻♂️No discount

The red maple in Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum is really red!!! It looks better on sunny days
Many trees are bright, besides the rouge snow area, there are also some scattered in other places
Now the effect of ◎Shixiang Road is not particularly good, many leaves have fallen and only dry branches are left
But the red maple and the water shirt by Yanque Lake are also very attractive is the guide map of Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, the approximate location of the attractions are original pictures, no filter, there are also live pictures1

History on a Grand Scale in Nanjing
#tripblazers #couplestrip #nanjing
The tomb of the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty can be found right here in Nanjing. Zhu Yuanzhang was buried here in 1398 and in modern times, it has become a popular tourist destination. The highlight for me were the intricately carved, 600 year old steps, that boasts dragon heads on each corner. There are many more building to explore inside, leading up to the incredible treasure mound in the mountain side.

Ming Mausoleum: perfect rainy day outing
You can buy a combined ticket, valid for two days, to see most of the historical attractions in the area. You need to buy it through a mini-app and it only costs ¥100. We went to Zixia lake and and the mausoleum and could have easily stayed a few more hours exploring the paths through the forest. It rained intermittently but was still an amazing experience. My suggestion is to bring your own tea/coffee and snacks. We ended up staying past 7pm and had to ask for help leaving the area as the gates were closed. 🤭 there weren’t many people around that day, but I feel like the place is so big that even if the weather had been more clement it would not have too crowded. 10/10 would go again.

Xiaoling Mausoleum is an unmissable scenic spot in Nanjing. I recommend entering through the No. 3 gate, as you get a fantastic view of the trees, with their red, yellow, and green leaves reflected in the water. The path you'll walk is over 600 years old, and flanked on both sides by stone statues, there to guard the tomb of the Ming Emperor Taizu.

In the fall, the most beautiful part of Jinling is the Zhongshan Scenic Area. There are many tourist attractions here, such as Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, Meiling Palace, Linggu Temple and so on. Even a random Wutong Avenue in the mountains can be amazing in the fall. In the Wutong Avenue in the mountains, the leaves of the phoenix tree are all yellow, and when the wind blows, it falls a lot with the wind.
In the early morning, the fallen leaves had not yet been swept away and when I walked on it, it made a sound. This road is my favourite one. In the summer, the trees are shaded by the sun. It is a rare summer resort. The golden leaves in autumn are very charming. It is not as nice in the winter since there is a trace of desolateness and depression. The best place to take pictures here is the stone road in Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum.

Short weekend can also experience RV life. I went to Nanjing five years ago to revisit the old place. Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum is the tomb of the founding emperor and queen of the Ming Dynasty. The light of the morning penetrated the yellowish leaves

The Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum in Nanjing is truly breathtaking
The Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum in Nanjing, a magnificent epic where history and culture converge‼️
🌟 At the foot of Zhongshan in the north of Nanjing city lies a magnificent epic of Ming dynasty royal culture—the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum. It is the final resting place of Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming dynasty, and his empress. It is not only the origin of the royal mausoleum system of the Ming and Qing dynasties but also a dazzling pearl of Chinese architectural history and stone carving art.✨
🍃 Stepping into the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, the first thing that catches the eye is the Sacred Way, lined with majestic stone statues, ranging from lions, xiezhi, camels, elephants to qilins and horses. They seem to silently narrate the royal dignity and solemn rituals of the past. The weathered stone officials stand like loyal guards, protecting this sacred land.
🌸 In the winter, the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum has a unique charm. Under the red walls, wintersweet flowers bloom quietly, adding a touch of life and poetry to the profound history with their subtle fragrance. Walking slowly along the Sacred Way, you will be amazed by the exquisite stone carving skills and deeply moved by the traces left by time.
🌳 Passing through the Dajin Gate and the stele pavilion, walking on the winding Imperial River Bridge, you arrive at the grand and spectacular Ling'en Gate and the ruins of Ling'en Hall, recalling the grand royal ceremonies of the past, one can't help but feel respect for that glorious history.
👑 The underground palace of the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum is still hidden underground, its mystery inspiring endless imagination. This royal tomb, which has been sleeping for over six hundred years, is like a three-dimensional history textbook, narrating the splendor and changes of the early Ming dynasty in its unique way.

The Most Beautiful 600 Meters in Nanjing - The Sacred Way of Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum
Nanjing's Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum is one of the largest imperial tombs, and also one of the most beautiful places to visit in autumn in Nanjing. The 615-meter-long Sacred Way is lined with pairs of massive stone animals - lions, xiezhi (mythical creatures), camels, elephants, qilins, and horses, kneeling and standing. They have quietly witnessed over 600 years of spring, summer, autumn, and winter, silently guarding the path and observing the cycle of seasons.
I was first amazed by the spring of Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum when I came here in April 2021, it was like an overturned palette, dazzling with colors that intoxicate the heart.
In the golden autumn of November 2023, I visited the Sacred Way again, seeing the red leaves like fire, the yellow leaves like gold. The sunlight filtering through the leaves cast upon the ancient road, reflecting the vicissitudes of history. The short stretch of over 600 meters seemed to encapsulate the autumn of the entire Jinling city. The beauty of the Sacred Way lies not only in its natural splendor but also in its profound historical and cultural significance. A mere 600 meters, traversing 600 years, is indeed the most beautiful 600 meters in Nanjing.
No matter the season, Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum attracts countless visitors with its unique charm.
👍Highly recommended:
Outside Gate 3 of Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, there is a very secluded bald cypress forest by the Yanque Lake, which is as beautiful as an oil painting in autumn, with yellow and red interwoven to form a charming autumnal tapestry.
📝Note tips:
Best viewing period: Early November - Early December, with the ginkgo leaves falling by the end of November, mid-November is the best time.
💰Admission: 70 RMB per person
🕙Opening hours: 7:00-17:30 open to the public.

The 2024 Dragon Soaring China 'Plum' Wonderful Nanjing – Live Broadcast of the Plum Blossom Festival
📣 During the Plum Blossom Festival, tickets are 60 yuan per person (February 19 to March 15). ✔️
Photos taken on 2024.3.2 from 14:30 to 16:30, live on-site
Nanjing warmed up during the Spring Festival, causing nearly half of the blossoms on Plum Blossom Hill to bloom. Subsequent rain and snow let the plum blossoms experience the freezing cold before finally welcoming a sunny day today ☀️. Spring has an appointment, and the flowers do not miss it – the most beautiful encounter is probably: I just happened to pass by, and you happened to be in full bloom – the beauty should not be wasted, you must come and experience the joy of the Plum Blossom Festival!!
Beautiful weather comes with a beautiful mood. The current grandeur of the entire Plum Blossom Hill is indeed not as splendid as last year due to the rain and snow, but the mood to greet spring is passionately surging. Walking under each plum tree, you can smell the fragrance of the flowers – believe that spring will bring many romances 💕
Plum Blossom Hill Flower Viewing Guide ✔️
🍀 Plum Blossom Hill is located within the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum scenic area, with 8 gates for entry. I entered from Gate 1, which is closest to the commanding heights of Plum Blossom Hill, where the Bo'ai Pavilion is located. This is an important spot for checking in at Plum Blossom Hill, and from here, you can also see the distant Zifeng Tower.
🍀 Plum Blossom Hill is the foremost of China's four major plum gardens, and it has two plum trees that are 400 years old – the Plum King and the Plum Queen. The Plum King is located next to the Bo'ai Pavilion, and the specific location of the Plum Queen is at the Weixiu Pavilion.
🍀 Walking down from the Bo'ai Pavilion, nearby there is a 'Lovers' Plum' where couples can linger (see picture 11).
🍀 I recommend visiting the Honglou Yiwengarden within the scenic area – it's a very characteristic place to enjoy the plum blossoms, with white walls and green tiles, perfect for taking elegant photos.
🍀 For those who like to collect stamps ✔️Stamping point ➡️ Next to the class representative elephant on Shixiang Road, the pink tent is the spot – see the last picture, remember to bring a notebook 📝
🍀 The best time to view plum blossoms on Plum Blossom Hill in 2024 is estimated to be from late February to mid-late March.
🍀 The scenic area is fully equipped with facilities, with plenty of food and milk tea.
🍀 Hanfu and plum trees are a match made in heaven, taking photos is simply YYDS

A comprehensive guide to enjoying the snow in Nanjing alone!
►Actually, Nanjing is more suitable for a solo deep tour citywalk
▪ I was chatting with a friend the other day about where to go for the Spring Festival, and he said he would bring his family to Nanjing for the holiday, but because the kids are young, they can't go to many places. He also mentioned that he must come to Nanjing alone next time for a proper deep tour!
▪ As a local Nanjinger, I totally agree. Nanjing is a city with profound cultural heritage. To truly understand the original appearance of a popular tourist spot, it often takes half a day. A quick visit and a few photos will be forgotten in a few days!
▪ If you have the time, I strongly recommend coming alone to walk through those historical sites. It would be even better if you encounter unique natural weather, such as a snowy day in winter!
►Once it snows, Nanjing turns into Jinling
▪ The historical depth of the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties and the capital of ten dynasties is particularly rich in the autumn and winter seasons
It's the traces of time on every brick and tile in the Zhongshan Scenic Area
It's the enduring incense of the thousand-year-old Confucius Temple on the banks of the Qinhuai River
It's the eastward flow of the Yangtze River from the Yuejiang Tower on Mufu Mountain
It's the succession of the old and new central axis of the Drum Tower
►Recommended snowscape walking tour
Starting from Nanjing Station, I recommend a route from east to south and then north. One can complete the journey alone by subway + bus or taxi!
① Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum Sifang Building
▪ Located at the north end of the central axis of the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, the characters for 'Xiaoling' stand out especially in the heavy snow. The outer walls of the Sifang Building of the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum are similar to the Great Wall, and the Ming Building is covered with yellow glazed tiles, which is one of the symbols of royal architecture! In addition to the Sifang Building, you can also walk around the Stone Statue Road, Weng Zhong Road, and Plum Blossom Hill of the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum.
▪ Time: Remember to enter the park before 6:30 am, it's free, and it takes about 2 hours to complete the above-mentioned attractions
▪ Transportation: Subway + taxi
② Confucius Temple and Qinhuai River
▪ The Wende Bridge at the Confucius Temple is the best spot for enjoying the snowscape. Besides the Qinhuai scenery, there is also the adjacent Great Hall of the Confucius Temple. The Qinhuai Lantern Festival during the Spring Festival is also not to be missed
▪ The night view of the Qinhuai River is also very beautiful. You can enjoy the night view of both banks on a cruise boat, where there will also be some performances and activities, experiencing the rich atmosphere of the water towns in the south of the Yangtze River
▪ Time: Visit once during the day and once at night. Arrive around 10 am after visiting the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum and have a meal in the scenic area
▪ Transportation: Get off at the Confucius Temple Station on Subway Line 3
③ Drum Tower Park
▪ The core building of Drum Tower Park is the Drum Tower, one of the earliest existing drum tower buildings in China. The scenery of red walls and green trees inside Drum Tower Park is very beautiful. The white snow against the red walls is suitable for a solo stroll and taking photos. The peacock flower bed outside Drum Tower Park is also one of the most beautiful urban landscapes in Nanjing, recommended for a visit
▪ Time: Arrive around 2 pm, and it takes about 1 hour to visit
▪ Transportation: Get off at the Drum Tower Station on Subway Line 1
④ Yuejiang Tower
▪ As the name suggests, standing on Yuejiang Tower, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Yangtze River. This place was rebuilt by later generations according to the planning of Zhu Yuanzhang in the Ming Dynasty. With its advantageous geographical location, in addition to the Yangtze River, you can also have an unobstructed view of the distant mountains and the city skyline from a high vantage point, feeling the unique charm of Nanjing!
▪ Time: Enjoy the snowy scenery before sunset
▪ Transportation: Taxi or city bus
After finishing all the itineraries, you can return to the Confucius Temple and Laomendong scenic area to enjoy the lanterns!
►Recommended tour: 1 to 2 days

Within 1h from Nanjing, recommend a scenic and less crowded niche park
March is filled with the breath of spring, making it really suitable for going out and enjoying the springtime! This time, I've discovered another hidden gem of a niche park around Nanjing! Let's go!
🚶Recommended route:

❶Swan Lake: At the entrance of the park, you can leisurely row around Swan Lake, where a group of swans🦢 and ducks bask in the sun on the shore, truly a peaceful moment to cherish.
❷Magic Black Forest: The magic book at the entrance and a giant cat🐱 piqued my curiosity. Inside, there are various immersive experiences to explore the fun of the forest🌳
❸Forest Ranch: Inside, there are all sorts of cute animals🦙🐿️🐦🐻, didn't see peacocks displaying their feathers🦚 but had a close encounter with a smiling deer🦌
❹Green Grasslands: A large green lawn where many people camp🏕️, with hot air balloons, cliff swings, skywalks, and rainbow slides nearby🎡, truly a paradise for both adults and children to play🎠
❺Bamboo Grove for Bamboo Shoot Digging: Digging for bamboo shoots on the big mountain is like treasure hunting, so joyful, and in the evening you can stir-fry these fresh bamboo shoots

Don't squeeze into the crowds at Chaotiangong anymore! The European-style pink magnolias at Xuanwu Lake are truly delightful
Don't squeeze into the crowds at Chaotiangong anymore!
The twin magnolias by the Xuanwu Lake are truly delightful!
Paired with the Love Corridor in the Lovers' Garden, it's totally European style!
🌸 There is a purple magnolia tree in the Cui Zhou of Xuanwu Lake, with pink bell-like flowers hanging all over the branches, which seem to be weighed down by the heavy blossoms. It's very suitable for portrait photography.
🌸 There are also a few pink twin magnolias near the Love Corridor, which contrast with the white arches, creating a unique charm.
🌸 The snow willows by the lake, with their pink and white flowers layered upon each other, truly look like white snow piled up on the smoky willows by the spring lake.
Xuanwu Lake is never short of visitors, but compared to the crowded Chaotiangong, this place is really a great spot for enjoying the spring leisurely.

The plum blossoms at Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum after consecutive days of rain and snow are so beautiful that they tug at one's heartstrings
After the continuous rain and snow, the plum blossoms at Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum are so beautiful that they tug at one's heartstrings.
The weather during the Spring Festival was around twenty degrees for several days in a row, which caused most of the plum blossoms on Plum Blossom Hill at Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum to bloom.
Then, following several days of snow and falling temperatures, this bizarre weather seems to be tormenting the plum blossoms.
After the continuous rain and snow, Plum Blossom Hill has become quite unsightly. The overall condition is:
The plum blossoms that had bloomed were mostly knocked off by the rain and snow, and those remaining on the branches were mostly frozen and wilted.
There are also a small number of unopened buds, and it's uncertain what they will look like once they bloom, but at least the plum blossoms I captured in my photos are still very beautiful.

Nanjing | When the flowers fall, we meet again
🌸 As winter comes in a blink, I realize it's been many years since I last visited the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum. Since there are still some late wintersweets, it wouldn't hurt to take a look.
Drone spots sharing:
Drone spot 1⃣️: At the entrance red wall
📍 After entering the main gate of the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum from the Zhongshan Scenic Area, turn right, and at the far right red wall, you can use the wintersweet as a foreground to capture the image of plum blossoms against the red wall.
Drone spot 2⃣️: Deer and plum blossoms
📍 This is a dynamic spot, depending on the movement of the deer and the wintersweet. With some luck, you can capture the deer and wintersweet in the same frame, creating a lively scene.
Drone spot 3⃣️: Carved window edges
📍 Walking towards the main hall of the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, you will pass a small red wall house with carved window edges. It's a good spot for portraits, and you can also use the wintersweet as a foreground to shoot parts of the window (recently, there are white billboards piled up in front of the window, which quite affects the shooting).

The plum blossoms on Meihua Mountain in Ming Xiaoling have been blooming one after another, with different varieties in sequence. It is expected that the best viewing period will be from 2.25 to 3.1.
【Plum Viewing Location】1. Enter from Gate 1 of Ming Xiaoling, go to the intersection of Weng Zhong Road and Shi Xiang Road, there is a road up the mountain, go straight, there are plum trees along the way, all the way to Boai Pavilion. 2. Enter from Gate 7 or Gate 5 of Ming Xiaoling, follow the road signs to Boai Pavilion.
Choose Gate 1 for the short route, and choose Gate 5 or Gate 7 for viewing along the way. Compared with Gate 1, it takes an extra 3-4 minutes to walk.
CHEYENNE BALL
This February, you must come to Meihua Mountain in Nanjing to see the plum blossoms!
Meihua Mountain in Nanjing is located in the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum scenic area, known as the 'first plum mountain in the world', with a particularly large variety of species! There are currently 40,000 trees of more than 400 varieties. Half of the flowers were already blooming on February 8 last year! Recommended route:
Alfalfa Garden No.1 entrance: It's very close to Meihua Mountain, a short walk to Boai Pavilion, which I personally think is the place with a higher rate of good photos.
Transportation: There is a parking lot at the entrance, 12 yuan/hour during the day.
Photography guide:
The particularly good photos are all taken at Boai Pavilion, with the plum blossoms steaming in the clouds and the elegant plum blossoms complementing the ancient architecture. The Guanmei Pavilion next to it was built in 1947, full of ancient style, with a particularly atmospheric color scheme, wearing Hanfu to take pictures here, it's really very artistic.
The cross path south of Boai Pavilion is full of blooming flowers, very suitable for portrait photography. There are many cute little birds on the plum trees, I recommend you to use telephoto shooting, along the way you can see white plums, green plums, cinnabar (red plums), palace powder (pink), yellow plums competing to bloom, emitting bursts of fragrance, refreshing, this is spring.
When you get to the stone statue road, you can take pictures of mythical beasts with plum blossoms. The circle around the mythical beast is weeping plum, which looks even better when it's fully bloomed.
Plum blossom viewing guide:
Ticket: 70 (free before 6:30), there will be more tourists soon, I suggest you come early! I went around seven o'clock, there weren't many people, it will continue until March, there will be more varieties of plum blossoms gradually blooming, eventually reaching a sea of flowers like a tide.
