Middle East Railway Memory Museum • Suifenhe Railway Station Waiting Room Former Site
Middle East Railway Memory Museum is located at the former site of the Suifenhe Railway Station waiting room in the century-old historical district of Suifenhe, Heilongjiang Province (No. 33, Zhanqian Road, Suifenhe City). Suifenhe Railway Station was built in 1898. After the new Suifenhe Railway Station was put into operation on January 1, 2016, the former site was transformed into the 'Middle East Railway Memory Museum.' The museum exhibits many precious historical photos and numerous artifacts, divided into five units to interpret the century-old vicissitudes of the Middle East Railway.
Suifenhe Railway Station has been built for more than a hundred years, enduring the vicissitudes of time, but its overall structure and appearance remain intact. The interior features large-span steel beam roof trusses, spacious and bright; the traditional decorative patterns on the window lintels reflect an elegant atmosphere; white walls, gray accents, yellow wooden wainscoting, solemn and luxurious; black and white floor tiles highlight the style of Russian architecture.

Railway Memory Museum
This memory museum is located on Station Front Road in Suifenhe City. It is a Russian-style building that originally served as the waiting room of Suifenhe Railway Station, built for the construction of the Chinese Eastern Railway. Now, it is the Chinese Eastern Railway Memory Museum.
The Chinese Eastern Railway, abbreviated as CER, is over 1,400 kilometers long, with Suifenhe being the eastern terminus. After the railway station was built and the CER was opened to traffic, various diplomatic missions stationed there raised their flags. For a time, Suifenhe was adorned with the flags of more than a dozen countries, earning it the nickname "Flag Town." The railway starts from Vladivostok in Russia and Suifenhe is the fifth station, hence Suifenhe is also known as "Five Stations."
Upon entering the museum, visitors are greeted by a high blue wooden roof and black floor tiles, authentically recreating the Russian architectural style. The first thing one sees is a giant sculpture of a wheel and track. Inside the museum, visitors can watch documentaries on historical events such as the Boxer Rebellion and the Russo-Japanese War, enjoy a special film on the Chinese Eastern Railway in the screening room, and even step into a "high-speed train cockpit" to experience the thrill of being a high-speed train driver.
