On a day trip from Hakodate, Hokkaido to see the cherry blossoms at Matsumae Castle in Matsumae Town, we stopped off at the Matsumae Roadside Station for lunch. I researched the place beforehand and had the seasonal Shimaebi Donburi! It tasted like sweet shrimp and was excellent. The miso soup that came with it was also delicious with shrimp broth. I went to the roadside station, Kitamaefune Matsumae, in Matsumae-cho, Hokkaido. It is about a 5-10 minute walk from Matsumae Castle.
