🇦🇺 More Melbourne Charms: Beyond the Coffee and Lattes
Got more to share from last year’s Melbourne trip.
First up, Flinders Street Station. Seriously, that place is like stepping into a Victorian postcard. It's so grand! And get this – it's the busiest train station in the whole southern hemisphere! Imagine all the stories it could tell. I just loved watching the hustle and bustle, imagining all the journeys starting and ending there.
Then, I dragged myself out of bed early (yes, me!) and headed to Queen Victoria Market. Best.decision.ever. The people-watching? Off the charts! It’s just so vibrant and real. Plus, the smells! Food heaven.
Okay, now for something a bit heavier: the Old Melbourne Gaol. "Gaol" is just an old-timey word for jail, by the way. This place is intense. It's a real jail, and you can feel the weight of history there. It really hit me how many people suffered injustice during the gold rush. Definitely made me think.
But then, to lighten the mood, I wandered into the State Library. Wow. Just wow. Melbourne really lives up to its rep as a city of literature. The architecture is stunning, the books are endless, and it's just a great place to hang out. You can tell it's a real social hub.
And of course, no trip to Melbourne is complete without checking out the street art. Hosier Lane and ACDC Lane? Forget boring walls! These alleys are exploding with color and creativity. Some of the most vibrant street art I've ever seen, hands down. It's like the city is screaming its personality.

“Melbourne Unveiled: A Perfect Blend of Culture, Cuisine, and Charm” 🇦🇺
Melbourne Travel Experience: A City of Vibrance and Charm
My recent trip to Melbourne was nothing short of incredible. This vibrant city effortlessly blends culture, nature, and culinary delights, offering something for everyone.
The City Vibes
Melbourne’s energy is infectious. From the moment I arrived, the city’s mix of historic charm and modern sophistication stood out. The laneways are a masterpiece of street art, and exploring them felt like walking through an open-air gallery. Federation Square, with its unique architecture and buzzing atmosphere, was a fantastic starting point for my journey.
Culinary Scene
Melbourne’s food culture is second to none. From the bustling Queen Victoria Market to trendy cafes, every meal was a delight. Coffee lovers take note—Melbourne truly deserves its reputation as one of the coffee capitals of the world. Each café I visited delivered a perfect flat white or latte, paired with creative and delicious breakfast options.
Nature and Relaxation
A stroll through the Royal Botanic Gardens was both peaceful and refreshing. The sprawling greenery and stunning lake views offered a break from the city’s lively pace. A day trip to St Kilda Beach was another highlight—enjoying the sunset and watching the little penguins return to the pier was magical.
Unique Experiences
One standout experience was visiting the W Hotel, where I stayed. The modern luxury, impeccable service, and fantastic amenities made it a memorable part of my trip. The views from the hotel were stunning, and its central location made exploring the city a breeze.
Shopping and Nightlife
Melbourne’s shopping scene is diverse, from high-end boutiques on Collins Street to unique finds at local markets. As for nightlife, the city didn’t disappoint, with rooftop bars and speakeasies offering a mix of fun and relaxation.
Final Thoughts
Melbourne has a special charm that’s hard to put into words. It’s a city that embraces creativity, diversity, and an exceptional quality of life. Whether you’re exploring cultural landmarks, savoring world-class cuisine, or simply soaking in the atmosphere, Melbourne leaves an unforgettable impression. I can’t wait to visit again!

Queen Victoria Market can be said to be one of the must-visit places for tourists 🤣 This time the main purpose is to come to eat oysters 🦪 Especially the seafood market is very good to walk! There are already many choices of oysters, different origins, different prices, different sizes😆
After walking around, I decided to buy this fresh St Helens Oysters from Tasmania🦪🇦🇺 so a dozen only AUD22😍😍😍 This price is really too cheap! And the quality is higher than imagined 👍🏻 Although this St Helens oysters are not very plump, but it is refreshing and creamy, the entrance is also very fresh and sweet 😋😋😋 No need to put any sauce / lemon is very tasty, do not feel fishy 🤭 great ❣️

🇦🇺Melbourne | Winter Night Market
My friend led me to this winter market in Melbourne yesterday. It was one of the most popular places in the city. There were shops and food stores around. It’s a surprise to me seeing people doing silence disco and a clown performing his tricks.
The best of the night was snow!!! Can’t imagine it’s snowing at the market.
The winter market is operating every Wednesdays with fun activities to carry out. It’s so different from the morning one.
Highlights - Snow and everything you couldn’t imagine
Avg. Price per Person - Free for entrance

Sugar sugar doughnuts
Queen victoria market famous sugar doughnuts did not disappoint. It was freshly made on the spot and served hot. Did not know that there was jam inside but eventhough i was never a fan of jam doughnuts, it did not taste bad. The jam was sweet but light.
The dough was soo good , not too heavy and soft and the sugar was just right.
Price wise: 5 for $10 was a little pricy considering that it was alot cheaper years back.

QVM is always a go-to destination for everyone visiting or living in Melbourne! They sell EVERYTHING there. From fresh produce to tourist’s souvenirs, cheeses and wines to arts and crafts, various food trucks, make sure you bring a big shopping bags (or better, shopping trolley!) here.
Follow the crowd when you’re there. I noticed a very long queue and they were all queuing for a $1 bags of veggies. Can’t buy those at supermarkets for sure!

Buying souvenirs during your travel can be a bit complicated sometimes as it depends on the space on our luggage/bag left, the price and also the weight you have to carry after.
But no need to worry as in Queen Victoria Market you will be able to purchase various type of souvenirs. There’s lot of option such as keychains, socks, tote bag, T-shirt, woodcraft and the list just goes on.
The price is so affordable as you can get about 6-10 magnets/keychain combo for as low as AUD10. A really good bargain compared to the other shops. Besides souvenirs, you can also grab some food as there’s lot of food truck and cafe in the market area offering variety of meals/snacks.
And if you’re planning to visit State Library Victoria its just around 10 minutes walk and you may continue your journey to Chinatown after that - only 5 minutes walk.

Popular coffee shops in Melbourne
When it comes to coffee, Melbourne is another city that coffee lovers love because there are so many good coffee shops. Today, we will review one of the coffee shops with many branches in Melbourne, which is Market Lane Coffee. This branch that we went to is located at Queen Victoria Market. The shop is not very big. There are seats in front of the shop. There are many coffee beans to choose from in the shop. The staff gave good advice. We tried ordering Americano and iced latte. The taste is good, worthy of being an Australian coffee. 😌 In addition, I saw something cute that buying take-away coffee is waste-free. There is a lending and return of cups. I like it very much. The policy is very environmentally friendly. If many people here use this project of the shop, even I like it. ☺️

🌿✈️ Melbourne in 7 Days: Coffee, Street Art & Secret Spots!
#springitinerary
Just got back from a week in Melbourne, and wow—this city is like that cool friend who knows all the best underground spots. Moody laneways, next-level brunch, and coffee so good I considered moving there. Here’s the fun stuff you actually want to know:
✨ Best Hidden Find: The Mill Place—a tiny alley near Flagstaff Gardens, covered in vines and fairy lights. I found it by accident (read: was lured in by the smell of fresh sourdough). It’s quiet, dreamy, and feels like Melbourne’s best-kept secret.
🍩 Food Obsession: Queen Victoria Market’s “Doughnut Time” van. Picture a Nutella-stuffed, sprinkle-covered doughnut the size of your face. I ate it in record time, zero regrets. Pro tip: Get there before 10 AM or risk a hangry crowd.
😂 Most Random Moment: A seagull full-body photobombed me at St Kilda Beach. One second I’m posing, the next—wing slap—this chaotic bird is the star of my pic. Melbourne’s wildlife has no chill.
⏳ My 7-Day Itinerary:
Day 1-2: CBD exploring—Hosier Lane’s ever-changing street art, coffee at Patricia’s (their almond croissant haunts my dreams), rooftop bars for golden-hour cocktails.
Day 3-4: Beach time—St Kilda Pier for sunset penguins (yes, tiny penguins!), Luna Park’s creepy-smiling entrance.
Day 5-7: Day trips—Great Ocean Road (Apostles views = worth the drive), Yarra Valley wine tastings (rosé flights = happiness).
👟 Must-Pack: Layers (Melbourne does four seasons in a day), comfy shoes for cobblestone lanes, and stretchy pants for all the food.
This city’s magic is in the little things—the hidden bars down staircases, the smell of espresso in the morning, the way every corner has a story. If you go, leave room for spontaneity (and extra stomach space).

Gai Wong Chicken King - Chicken is indeed the king, but the barbecued pork and roasted pork are just so-so
#March Good Places 2025
We recently tried the "Chicken King Gai Wong" located in Melbourne city centre and took out a 700g chicken which was amazing for dinner! The chicken is tender and juicy, full of sauce, and immediately reminiscent of the familiar and nostalgic taste of Malaysia and Singapore, definitely worthy of the name of the shop.
Then we went back to lunch to try their barbecue and char siu. To be honest, as a Hong Konger, I really think the standard is average, the taste is not bad, but it is really far worse than the barbecue in Hong Kong. In truth, Hong Kong style is simply another level, and if you don’t agree, then it’s really your loss!
Summary: The chicken is worth repurchasing, the grilled taste depends on your personal taste!

Yeonga Charcoal Grill Korean BBQ - Korean side dishes without additional ingredients
#March Good Places 2025
Recently went to Yeonga for charcoal grilled Korean barbecue, the most special thing about this restaurant is that they use traditional charcoal barbecue.
We ordered the Wagyu beef set for two. The meat is tender and evenly oiled. It melts in your mouth after grilling. It's really quite satisfying! There are also Korean dishes that can be added for free, such as kimchi, pickled carrots, etc., which taste authentic and appetizing.
Overall, the aroma of charcoal grill is different from regular gas grill, the smoky flavor makes the barbecue more delicious, and served with lettuce, garlic slices, sauces, one bite after another can not stop! Yeonga is a good choice if you like a traditional Korean barbecue experience!

Great Food
Melbourne is a food lover’s paradise, offering an incredible mix of global cuisines, fresh local produce, and innovative culinary experiences. Whether you’re strolling through the city’s famous laneways, visiting vibrant markets, or dining at award-winning restaurants, Melbourne has something to satisfy every craving.
One of the best places to experience Melbourne’s diverse food culture is at Queen Victoria Market. This iconic market is a must-visit for food lovers, offering everything from freshly baked pastries and artisanal cheeses to gourmet meats and seafood. The hot jam doughnuts from the American Doughnut Kitchen, served fresh from a vintage van, are a local favorite.
How to spend 2 days in Melbourne
I recently took a trip to Melbourne, and it turned out to be one of the most exciting weekends I’ve had in a long time! The main reason I was there was to catch a concert by one of my favorite bands, but the whole experience became so much more.
I arrived on a Friday afternoon, checked into my cozy hotel, and set off to explore the city. Melbourne has such a vibrant energy—there’s always something happening, and you can feel it in the air. I wandered around the laneways, exploring quirky street art and popping into little cafes. After getting settled, I headed over to the concert venue, which was buzzing with anticipation. The atmosphere was electric, and the moment the band took the stage, the crowd went wild. It was amazing to see them perform live, and the acoustics in the venue made it feel like the music was surrounding me.
The next day, I spent the morning walking through Federation Square and then hit up the Queen Victoria Market. The food there was incredible! I tried fresh seafood, artisanal cheeses, and some mouth-watering pastries. Then I made my way to a local ramen bar I’d heard about and was not disappointed—rich, savory broth and perfectly cooked noodles.
That evening, I treated myself to a fancy dinner at one of Melbourne's renowned fine dining spots. The food was a true work of art; I tried everything from creative cocktails to a perfectly cooked steak that melted in my mouth.
The following day, I explored a few more neighborhoods. I stopped by Fitzroy for its cool vibe and popped into a few boutiques. By the time I had to head to the airport, I was full of good memories (and a little too much food, if I'm being honest!).
In just two nights, I felt like I experienced so much of what makes Melbourne such a unique and exciting city—from incredible music to unforgettable food and the vibrant street culture. I can’t wait to go back!
