The picturesque view of Mt. Mayon Volcano
Mayon, also known as Mount Mayon and Mayon Volcano, is an active stratovolcano in the province of Albay in Bicol Region, on the island of Luzon in the Philippines.
Called the world's most perfect volcanic cone because of the symmetry of its shape, it has a base 80 miles (130 km) in circumference and rises to 8,077 feet (2,462 metres) from the shores of Albay Gulf.
Cagsawa Ruins is one of the most iconic tourist spots in Albay. The church was built in 1587 then destroyed by Dutch pirates in 1636. A priest had it rebuilt in 1587 but in 1814, the historic eruption of Mayon
Volcano once again destroyed the church and the town of Cagsawa. ❤️

DARAGANG MAGAYON
Mayon Volcano is an active volcano in southern Luzon, Philippines, that dominates Legaspi City. It has a base 80 miles (130 kilometers) in circumference and rises to 8,077 feet (2,462 meters) from the coasts of Albay Gulf, earning it the title of the world's most perfect volcanic cone. Bikolanos also referred it as DARAGANG MAGAYON because it is a beautiful and a perfect cone shaped volcano!
Mayon Volcano National Park is home to the volcano, which is popular with climbers and campers (21 square miles [55 square km]). On the lower slopes, there are vast abaca plantations. Since 1616, there have been more than 30 eruptions.

Perfect cone-shaped volcano - Mayon
It was my childhood dream to witness Mayon’s glory in flesh and not in postcards and history books anymore. Though it wasn’t my first time to see Mayon as I’ve already seen her before when we passed by Tabaco while we were on our way to visit our relatives in Catanduanes way back 2007, but it was my first time to see her from Cagsawa Ruins Park.
Entrance fee: ₱10
Viewing Mt. Mayon from Cagsawa Ruins Park creates a different atmosphere compared to other spots. Once you see the Cagsawa Church’s bell tower, you will automatically imagine how disastrous it became when it erupted more than 200 years ago. The eruption buried the church by rocks and lava, leaving only a potion of the bell tower.

It’s Perfect!
One of the most famous volcanoes in the Philippines is Mayon Volcano. It’s located in the province of Albay. A very popular destinations for tourists and its renowned as the perfect cone.
Travel to Legaspi City from Cubao, Quezon City is about 10 hours by bus or you can choose by air travel which is faster but more expensive than taking a bus.
To travel around, best is to rent a motorcycle for every destinations you want to go and you can stop anytime to take a photo not a hassle.
Also don’t forget to taste and eat Bicol’s best “Bicol Express”

Mayon, the most famous of the active volcanoes of the Philippines, is a archetype of a symmetrical stratovolcano and one of the world most active ones. It has frequent eruptions producing pyroclastic flows, mud flows and ash falls that repeatedly triggered large-scale evacuations. Mayon's most violent eruption, in 1814, killed more than 1200 people and devastated several towns. #givethanks

Off the Beaten Path in the Philippines: Legazpi & Mayon Volcano
This was a spontaneous trip. I hadn't been to the Philippines for a long time, and this time I decided not to go diving in Bohol, but to take a different route. So I chose a less popular route: Puerto Galera - Legazpi - Mayon Volcano. I had planned to continue, but a typhoon 🌀 forced me to turn back...
The weather wasn't great this time, so the photos aren't very clear, and the visibility underwater was also very low. Please bear with me, and I'll take better photos next time!
1. Public Transportation
There are no direct flights from China to Legazpi, so you need to transfer in Manila or Cebu. I recommend Manila - Legazpi - Cebu, so you don't have to backtrack.
The airport in Legazpi is called "Bicol International Airport," located in Daraga, right at the foot of the volcano. It takes about 30 minutes by taxi from the airport to downtown Legazpi.
2. City Transportation
There are three main options: Taxi, Tricycle, and Jeepney.
- Jeepney: No fixed stops, suitable for locals. Tourists are advised to choose the other two options.
- Car: It's easy to call a car through Grab. Taxis are easy to find in the city, but not so much in the suburbs or scenic areas, where you'll need to take a Tricycle.
- Tricycle: They can take you anywhere, and can fit 4 people if you squeeze in.
3. Accommodation
The local brand hotels are a bit old and not very cost-effective. The locals are warm and simple, so homestays are also a good choice.
I recommend staying in the city center, where there are more supermarkets and restaurants to choose from, and it's more convenient to get around.

The World's Most Perfect Volcanic Cone 🗻😊
Mayon Volcano is one of the Philippine's most active volcanoes. Its perfect cone shaped is admired for its beauty as it is feared for its fieriness and destructiveness. This glorious display of nature draws people to Albay just to see how strikingly beautiful it really is in person. It is located in the province of Albay in Bicol.
I didn't miss my chance to witness this breathtaking view when I had the opportunity to visit Albay. It was truly worth everything. If you are coming to Albay, don't think twice and just come to Mount Mayon. It is a must-visit place!

Rising 2,462 meters above sea level, Mayon is an active volcano that has erupted over 50 times in the past 400 years. Despite its destructive potential, Mayon's beauty and majesty continue to draw visitors from around the world. The Shy and Elusive Mayon Volcano
Mayon Volcano may be known for its majestic beauty, but it's also known for being shy and elusive at times. Well, not today.
According to the locals, the Mayon Volcano only shows its peak to those with pure hearts and good intentions. For almost a week before our visit, the peak of Mayon Volcano remained hidden behind the clouds. The locals also advised us to say our wishes. 😊 #beachlife #mytripvlog #urbanexplorer #awesomepic #celebratewithtrip #passionpassport #mytripvlog #philippines

Dine with the gods at Mt. Mayon
The almost perfect cone shape of Mt. Mayon of Lrgazpi, Albay, Philippines is most comparable to Mt. Fuji of Japan on its perfect cone and grandeur.
One of the most active volcanoes in the Philippines being on the edge of the Pacific Ring of Fire.
Its majestic beauty draws visitors not only over the country but to foreign people as well.
Going there from Manila by Air:
There is a daily trip of airflight from Manila to Legazpi City though in bad weather conditions some flights are cancellee due to zero visibility near the foot of Mt. Mayon.
Going there from Manila by Land:
Everyday there are more than 30 trips of buses from Non-aircon, Aircon, Premiere, Deluxe, and First Class buses from Manila to the Visayas and Mindanao. Since all these buses would really pass by Albay going to Matnog Port in Sorsogon City and travel via 'Ro-Ro' by sea to Allen Port in Northern Samar; you can ride on of these buses and just drop off at Legazpi City.
There are an overwhelming number of inns, hotels, and spaces for rent around Mt. Mayon.
Try to travel around Mt. Mayon if you are a backpackers and enjoy the variety of food, drinks, bars, rides, and 'entertainment' around Mt. Mayon.
Note: People around Mayon are members of the so-called 'Bicolanos' a major people group in the Philippines that is very fond of 'sili' - 'chilli' on their food. They even have 'chilli ice cream' with levels of chilliness that your body is willing to take. #staycation #mountains #volcanoes #albay #philippines #sirroneltravels

Mayon Volcano Philippines
Albay is the home of the WORLD’s most perfect cone-shaped volcano—Mt. Mayon. I know it sounds cliche, but I felt the need to state it as this is one of the reasons why there’s a public perception that staying even a single night here costs an arm and a leg (with Mayon as the only attraction). And as a budget traveler who already experienced Albay, I want to alter that thinking. Albay taught me that “world class” doesn’t always mean “expensive”.
If you opt to reach Albay by bus, it is advisable to depart from Manila the night before. Only if you don’t mind sleeping on a bus the entire night. It will save you time significantly. If not, you can fly to Legazpi Airport via Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airlines.
We took a Legazpi-bound bus from DLTB Cubao (near Shopwise). We reserved our bus tickets ahead of time since it was peak season. Fare is ₱800 one way. We left Cubao at around 8PM and reached Albay around 7:30AM the next day. It was almost 12 hours travel time.
We told the bus attendant to drop us off at Avia Inn at Daraga, but he seemed unfamiliar, so he suggested he will just drop us off at the unloading zone in Daraga. Upon getting off the bus, we learned that Avia inn is just a short walk away from the drop off point. Talk about convenience.
