If you depart from Georgetown, Penang, first you have to take a 20 minute ferry to Butterworth Sentral. Then a KMUTER train ride to Alor Setar, Kedar. It takes a little more than 1 hour. Zahir Mosque located in the center of the city. This is a perfect day trip. The town itself has little tourist attractions, except this stunning mosque with black dome. Words won’t do it justice.
