Island hopping in Sabah - Manukan/Mamutik
Getting there from Jesselton Point Jetty, its easy and convenience (boat available every 15-20min, from 8am-4pm). I even made few friends along the way very friendly couple too, I’m so blessed!
Manukan is well develop got resort from Sutera Harbor and few bar and restaurant too. Entrance price for the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park (TARP) island is Rm8 local/ Rm25 int (must present the ticket to every island you visit) Mamutik island is okay not bad, good place to learn diving if you interested.

MANUKAN ISLAND
ACTIVITIES
- Parasailing
- Banana boat
- Snorkeling (Not really recommended. There’s no coral.)
LOCATION
- Quite near from the city, took 30mins by boat.
PRICE
- Worth for the experience. RM110 for the activities. Only for 1 island.
Highlights
1. For snorkeling lover, Mamutik Island would be recommended, the coral are beautiful.
2. Bring along your food (tapau from the city). It is quite pricy to buy the food on the island.
3. Please double check your snorkeling gear as well. Make sure they provide u the ‘good condition’ gear.
5. Use your sunblock.

Manukan Island - Malaysia
There is practically nowhere to swim in Borneo. For a beach holiday, visitors usually go to the nearest islands. In the Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park, which is just a few kilometers from Kota Kinabalu, there are 5 islands and Manukan is one of them.
Manukan is quite a large island compared to others. Smaller than the islands of Gaya, but larger than the islands of Sapi, Mamutik and Sulug. Lots of fish.
There are only 3 beaches on Manukan. You can swim on the one with the pier, to the right and left of it. The rest are dirty and unkempt.

Manukan Island is the second largest island in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park in Sabah, Malaysia. There are five distinctive islands in the Ocean Park. Manukan Island is the most popular. If anyone wants to ask me "the most recommended outlying island in Sabah", my first thought must be here. The reason is very simple. Tengku Ocean Park is only 15 minutes away from the city of Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah. It is not like the outer sea. From the island, you need a boat to get there.
The distance from the city is as clear as the sea, the beach is as soft as the beach, and the most important thing is that there are five kinds of islands in addition to various rich marine entertainment projects and perfect facilities. The most beautiful living coral reefs, as well as a large number of colorful tropical fish, are ideal for family fun and water.
From the air, Manukan Island is shaped like a curved dart, with a beautiful shore at the tip of the east, the beach is long and the sand is soft. The island is densely covered with vegetation, and the west and north coastlines are rocky and steep, with a mountain path surrounding the island. To the east and south of the island, there are many magnificent coral reefs and marine life, making it the perfect place for snorkeling, deep diving and swimming.
To go to Manukan Island, like the islands in other Tunku Ocean Park, you can go directly to the Kota Kinabalu Ferry Terminal at the northern end of the city. There are a lot of ticket windows in the terminal, all of which are different companies. The price is similar. Some windows provide Chinese service. Generally, tickets are sold at 7:00 in the morning. People are full of boats (eight people). It is basically 15 minutes. It is recommended to arrive before 11:00 am. pier. Kota Kinabalu is not big, if the hotel is not far from the pier, you can walk directly. Arriving at the pier of Manukan Island, you can see the squad of tropical fish in the clear waters.
Rusted_Sword.
It takes about ten minutes from the pier to take a speedboat to Manukan Island. Due to the early departure time, there are very few people on the island. There are more beach gravel, it takes courage to go barefoot, or you need to wear double-strap slippers to get off the water. Applying sunscreen, wearing a mask and holding a breathing tube, I am eager to try snorkeling.
The first snorkeling, first tried a few mouthfuls of water in the shallow water, and gradually became familiar with it. There is plenty of light in the water and you can see the underwater world very clearly. Many fish swim through the coral groves, and the beautiful underwater scenery is intoxicating. In the water, the bottle filled with bread was opened, and some bread was squeezed out. Countless fish came to me, and the scene was so spectacular that I could not speak. . . It is highly recommended that you travel to a farther place, about 150 meters from the shore, to start seeing the true underwater scenery. Compared to Sapi Island, Manukan Island has a lot of fish, but it is beautiful, colorful, and the glittering fish, showing me a beautiful underwater world I have never seen before.

📍Kota Kinabalu Island Hopping
Went to Kota Kinabalu with a group of friends and of course we booked ourselves an island hopping tour to Sapi Island and Manukan Island. Some of the exciting activities that are included in the tour were parasailing, banana boat ride and snorkelling! Everything was so fun and we had so much of adrenaline rush I was knocked out on our car ride back to our Airbnb! The tour was a day long’s tour, island hopping with the fun activities was totally worth the sunburns! Sapi Island and Manukan Island are equally beautiful with stretch of beaches, felt very serene and relaxing chilling by the beach!
I wish to travel to Hong Kong for the food!

"Little New Zealand" of Sabah
The lush greenery and herds of cattle seen at Desa Dairy Farm, also dubbed as "The Little New Zealand" of Sabah, has become very popular among tourists visiting Kundasang - especially families with kids. The farm covers more than 200 hectares and produces fresh milk and cheese from its herd of black and white cows. Visitors to the farm can expect a day full of fun and knowledgeable facts on the processing of fresh milk.
During your visit, tourists can feed baby farm animals like cows and goats with bottled milk and grass as they take in scenic views of the expansive farm and Mount Kinabalu. And of course, you must stop by the shop to purchase some freshly-made yoghurt ice cream, cheese and milk.

Kota Kinabalu Manukan Island Tour
This is Manukan Island, which I visited during my Kota Kinabalu tour. I asked a local which one of the three island tours I should go to, and this is the place he recommended.
It takes about 20 minutes by boat. I remember being surprised by how fast the boat was. The water is clean and there are a lot of fish, so it's great for snorkeling.
The island is not that big, so you can enjoy it for about 3 hours. He came back from the beach, laying a towel down and resting quietly.
The child went snorkeling. The fee was 35 ringgit at the pier and 20 ringgit for equipment rental.
