Mangwon market is a traditional market in Mapo-gu that is within close proximity to Hongdae and the Han River so it’s easy to stop by, grab some food and be on your way. You can even pack them for a picnic by the Han River! They have many things here in the market, from fresh produce and ready made bites. They are known for some delicious Jokbal or pig trotters. They simmer way for hours until the meat is nice and tender. From experience, don’t buy from the big mainstream grocery stores. It isn’t as good. But from the farmer’s market like this, oooh it’s good! One of my other favorite is the Chicken bites! The stall solely focus on bite size dakganjang (chicken bites). There is a wide variety of chicken bites that have been doused in different sauces. My favorite are the spicy selection. if you like chicken; you’ll like this stall! Post trip memories. Its been 2 weeks from our trip to Korea. The breezy and windy weather is facinating which we dont have it in Singapore. We went to Mangwon market for our dinner. we packed hotteok (caramelised pancake) W1,500 and flovoured fried chicken W12,000. Both are must try items in Mangwon market. I recommend choosing the type of bread in advance because you have to line up after entering and order right away and pick it up! I didn't even think about the menu and went in, so I didn't have time to choose comfortably.. The store itself is really small! Special reason: This bakery is famous for its cream bread and green onion bread. After eating it, I understood why it's famous. The butter persimmon cakes are also delicious!! It's rare to find a cafe that sells butter persimmon cakes in Seoul🧈. YG Entertainment YG Building and YG Shop are places I always stop by every time I come to Mangwon. I've met fans from Southeast Asia here, and I've happened to see Choi Hyun-suk and Treasure members leaving work. You can also visit on someone's birthday to show your support🥹. As the title says, I don't intend to follow trends, but I really can't recommend the sugar cakes at Mangwon Market. They're cheap at 2,000 won, or about 200 yen in Japanese yen, but the taste is not that great. The bean paste inside is too sweet, and the cheese powder on the outside is very cloying.
