If you're planning to visit Mandai Zoo or Bird Paradise, don't miss out on this place—it's a public space serving as the gateway to Bird Paradise and is located at Mandai Wildlife West.
What's the best thing about this place? It offers free entry, and you'll be greeted by a beautiful cascading waterfall modeled after Indonesia's famous Madakaripura Waterfall. Additionally, there are plenty of playgrounds in the area, making it perfect for a family trip. You'll also find numerous eateries nearby, including the Michelin-awarded Birds of Paradise Ice Cream.
There's a shuttle bus service from Khatib MRT. Even if you don't plan to visit Mandai Bird Paradise or the Zoo, this place is still worth a visit

Mandai Wildlife West
#mysgmemories
Mandai Wildlife West is a new playground at the entrance of Bird Paradise. Offering one of a kind nature like playground for the kids. I feel like a kid in the magical woods. Though I have to say it was REALLY HOT. There is also a waterfall cavern with a cascading 10m waterfall, which probably reminds you of the other waterfall in the old Jurong Bird Park. There are a few playgrounds scattered all around the area. One is pangolin inspired where they can mimic the mammal. I think my favourite is the forest stream trail. Because it can really start kids interest in nature from play time.

Egg Splash Café and Shop
#mysgmemories
A kids themed cafe in Bird Paradise that is super colourful and makes you happy seeing the pastel colours of yellow and turqiouse. There is also a water playground that’s temporary closed as the time I posted this. While I did not dine there since I had my lunch at A&W, Egg Splash is near the food court “Food Central” which sells a variety of cuisine that suits everyone and the treetops playground. Inside there is a merchandise store selling colour bird themed merchandise, such as hats, shirts, bottles and even a has a cute little fitting room for your kids.

A&W at Bird Paradise
#mysgmemories
Visitors would be glad that at Bird Paradise there are no lack of food options. This includes A&W which is right at the entrance of pathway to Bird Paradise near Mandai Wild Life Park. For the older generation you would remember there used to be a A&W in Singapore Zoo before it closed down. A&W even disappeared in Singapore for a few years. The A&W features outdoor and indoor seating, there are self ordering kiosk and counter. After ordering you can collect your ice cold root beer and wait at your table for the buzzer before collecting your meals.
I saw the staff took out the mug from the fridge!

It's not all about just animals
Mandai zoo may be a place where one visits the many animals and also understand and be educated on the animals habitats and how animals are trying to survive in the wild.
But do you know that in mandai zoo, there is an area where it is called garden with a view. This area has a view of also the lake and also where kids test their limits and fear on climbing a rope obstacle course. This is like an obstacle course where kids will wear a safety harness and scale the 2/3 story high structure and from above the kids will have a magnificent view.
The pricing starts for $20 a head for kids below 110cm to experience the real thing at $25. I recommend to let your kids to experience this obstacle course and face their fears! Who know, they might enjoy it!

Tortoise Shelter
#naturewonders
Keeping away from the hustle and bustle to enjoy a slower pace of life, the Tortoise Shelter is where you should go and you will encounter different Tortoise species like the Burmese and Indian star tortoise, the elongated tortoise, red and yellow foot tortoise are some that you will meet.
What makes this particular enclosure so interesting is that they actually had to construct the habitat for the animals to be as similar the ones that they are familiar with from the plants to tall rocks surrounding it.
Apart from tortoise in the section of the zoo, there are also reptiles such as Tailed Knobbed Gecko and Panther Chameleon living among the Tortoise Shelter.

Last look of Inuka the Polar Bear🐻❄️
It was 11th March 2018 and we took our company’s corporate pass to visit the Singapore Zoo. While it’s most of their first time visiting, I haven’t been here for quite some time too so it’s still rather refreshing for me.
Photo cover is a mandatory Singapore Zoo shot, after approaching almost a handful of tourists to perfect the shot.
The second shot is a saddening moment. We were wondering why Inuka the Polar Bear is covered in algae. He looked so frail..and the very next month, we found out he was put to sleep on the 25th April 2018. Literally the last look of him since most people won’t visit the Zoo that frequently.
Pandas were sleeping, yes both of them and even the red one! Nevertheless, those in the souvenir store will never go to sleep.

Panda
After several years of hard work, our giant pandas welcomed their first child on the morning of August 14, 2021. The red panda weighs about 200 grams. Based on the recommendations of the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center, through a program involving natural mating technology and assisted reproductive science, our latest red panda marks an important milestone in the care of threatened pandas in Singapore. Jiajia and the cub are nursing and establishing a relationship in the maternity ward, while Kaikai is in the exhibition.

River Wonders + Brickosaurs!
Head over to River Wonders after visiting the Zoo! My fav exhibition there will definitely be the cute pandas! The baby panda can only be seen from the tv screen though. They are currently having the Brickosaurs around the zoo and river wonders so do keep a look out for dinosaurs made out of bricks when you’re walking around!
River Wonders, formerly known as River Safari, is a river-themed zoo and aquarium located in Singapore. It is built over 12 hectares (30 acres) and nestled between its two counterparts, the Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari, Singapore. It is the first of its kind in Asia and features freshwater exhibits and a river boat ride as its main highlights. The safari was built at a cost of S$160m, with an expected visitor rate of 820,000 people yearly.

Wildlife Wonders at The Mandai Boardwalk!
#singaporetrip
I recently discovered the serene Mandai Boardwalk, a hidden gem in Singapore! This 3.3km stroll offered breathtaking views of the Upper Seletar Reservoir, surrounded by lush greenery and vibrant wildlife. I spotted exotic birds, including the critically endangered straw-headed bulbul, and even caught a glimpse of gibbons at the Singapore Zoo.
The boardwalk's wheelchair and stroller accessibility made it a joy for all. With its tranquil atmosphere and abundance of wildlife, The Mandai Boardwalk is a must-visit for nature lovers and families alike!
