A Five-Day Deep Tour of the Canadian Rockies - Banff National Park
As spring ends and summer begins, the Rockies are about to welcome their most glorious moments❤. The emerald lakes reflect the layers of distant mountains. In the early morning, you can wait for the 'golden sunrise' at Moraine Lake, where the sun's rays on the lake surface make it hard to tell if it's reality or a dream🙈.
Starting June 2nd, boat tours will be available on Lake Louise, where you can enjoy a gentle breeze on your face while boating in the heart of the lake🚣♂️. And there's the Tiffany blue💎 Lake Louise, sitting by the window of the Fairmont Hotel, it's simply wonderful. This hotel has been selected by Forbes as one of the 'Top Ten Hotels with the Most Beautiful Views in the World'.
Take the cable car to the top of Banff National Park and enjoy a panoramic view of the mountains, where the blue sky and white clouds seem within reach. Overlooking the entire Rocky Mountain range, surrounded by the sun and moon, as well as the mountains and rivers, this is probably the essence of traveling.
Starting in 2023, private cars are no longer allowed to enter Moraine Lake, so friends who want to drive themselves need to book a bus in advance. Or you can join our tour group, so you don't have to make the reservation yourself.

Start your weekend with a scenic drive through the Icefields Parkway, one of the most breathtaking routes in the world. On your way into Jasper, stop at Athabasca Falls, where the thundering water crashes through a narrow canyon, creating mist-filled air and vibrant rainbows. It’s a must-see spot, and only a short walk from the parking lot.
Once you arrive in Jasper, head to Maligne Lake, one of the most iconic lakes in the park. Take a boat tour to Spirit Island, a picturesque spot that feels like it belongs in a painting. Or, if you prefer a more active day, tackle the Maligne Canyon, a stunning 51-meter deep gorge carved by rushing water, with several waterfalls to admire along the way.
For wildlife lovers, Jasper is an absolute gem. You might spot elk, mule deer, or even a black bear along the roadways or on your hikes. The Jasper SkyTram offers panoramic views of the park, and from the top, you can hike Whistler Mountain for spectacular vistas.
At night, Jasper’s clear skies make it one of the best places in Canada for stargazing. The Jasper Dark Sky Preserve offers incredible opportunities to see stars, planets, and the Milky Way in all its glory.

Visiting Maligne Canyon in the Snow: A Winter Wonderland Adventure
#magicalxmastrip

#MaligneCanyon
Maligne Canyonin winter is like stepping into a snow globe, where icy waterfalls, frosty trees, and dramatic frozen landscapes create a magical winter wonderland. Just 10 minutes from Jasper, this frozen gorge is one of the coolest (pun intended) spots to explore when the snow blankets the Canadian Rockies.
If you want to experience the canyon in all its frozen glory, don’t miss the Maligne Canyon Ice Walk. This guided adventure is like a winter treasure hunt, where you’ll explore ice caves, cross snow-covered bridges, and marvel at massive icicles that look like they’re straight out of a fairytale. Your guide will keep you entertained with stories about the canyon’s history and the secret life of ice—trust us, it’s more exciting than it sounds! You’ll even get to snap some epic photos of frozen waterfalls that seem to defy gravity.
For a more chill (but equally stunning) experience, the Canyon Loop Trail is perfect for a self-guided walk. It’s an easy, snowy path with jaw-dropping views at every turn. Picture the icy walls towering above you, and the snow crunching underfoot—it’s a winter dream come true.
Just remember, winter in Jasper means ice, snow, and slippery surfaces, so make sure to wear sturdy boots and maybe even some crampons for extra grip. Visiting Maligne Canyon in the snow is a one-of-a-kind adventure that will leave you in awe of winter’s icy beauty—prepare to be wowed!

Exploring the Canadian Rockies

The Canadian Rockies are a majestic wonderland that spans across Alberta and British Columbia, offering some of the most awe-inspiring landscapes in North America. With jagged peaks, turquoise glacial lakes, and vast forests, it’s a destination that calls to adventurers, nature lovers, and anyone seeking a slice of wilderness paradise.
Start your journey in Banff National Park, one of Canada’s most famous gems. The town of Banff itself is a charming alpine hub, but the true stars are the surrounding mountains and lakes. Visit Lake Louise, whose surreal turquoise waters are framed by dramatic peaks and the iconic Fairmont Chateau. A hike up to the Lake Agnes Tea House provides not only spectacular views but also a well-earned snack. Don’t miss Moraine Lake, often touted as one of the most beautiful spots on Earth.
Continue your trip along the Icefields Parkway, a 230-kilometer stretch of highway that connects Banff and Jasper National Parks. This scenic route is packed with breathtaking viewpoints, waterfalls, and even the chance to walk on the Athabasca Glacier at the Columbia Icefield.
In Jasper National Park, the wilderness feels even more raw and untouched. Take in the serene beauty of Maligne Lake, where you can kayak to the iconic Spirit Island, or stroll along the deep, dramatic Maligne Canyon. Wildlife is abundant here—keep an eye out for elk, bears, and even mountain goats.
Wrap up your adventure in Yoho National Park, where you’ll find the jaw-dropping Emerald Lake and the thunderous Takakkaw Falls, one of Canada’s tallest waterfalls.

Rocky Mountain Water | Maligne Canyon.
I visited a friend in Edmonton in late July. After the visit, I suddenly had an idea: why not go back to Calgary from Jasper via Highway 93 through Banff? It would be a great way to enjoy the mountains and water along the way!
So I set off.
I left at around 6pm and stayed in Hinton for the night. The next morning, I went to Maligne Canyon.
Entering Jasper National Park, I saw many dead pine forests, some of which were completely charred, as if they had been through a fire. However, the meadows under the dead forests were full of purple flowers, creating a strong visual contrast between the dead trees and the fresh flowers. I was reminded of the old saying "Heaven acts vigorously, Earth acts gently", and I couldn't help but marvel at the magical cycle of life and death in nature.
There are quite a lot of wild animals in Jasper. Whenever I saw the car in front of me suddenly slow down for no apparent reason, it was usually because they had seen wild animals on the side of the road. I saw a large herd of elk and a sika deer, which was quite lucky. The poems "The deer cries out, eating wild apples" and "When the trees are deep, you see deer, and at noon by the stream, you hear no bells" immediately came to mind, which was quite beautiful.
I didn't see any bears, and I didn't expect to see any, as they are quite dangerous.
As I drove, my phone lost signal and the navigation stopped working. I had no choice but to follow the road signs. Fortunately, the road signs were very clear, and I easily found the parking lot at Maligne Canyon. It was before 9am, and there were plenty of parking spaces.
I walked onto the first bridge and looked down. The ground was split open, revealing a huge chasm. The water roared inside the chasm, which was quite shocking. It felt like looking down from the natural stone bridge known as the "Number One Bridge in the World" in Zhangjiajie.
Because I had booked the Jasper Skytram for 10:30am, I only walked across two or three bridges before leaving. However, this place left a deep impression on me, and I will definitely come back and explore it properly next time when I have more time.
When I returned to Calgary, I heard that there was a mountain fire on the Jasper side and that Highway 93 was closed. Many tourists were evacuated to BC, and what should have been a few hours' drive turned into a journey of dozens of hours. I was both fortunate and amazed.
The next day, I heard even worse news: Jasper town was on fire, and hotels and gas stations were being engulfed by the flames. Fortunately, the firefighters did their best, and I later heard that most of Jasper town was saved.
To this day, the Malign Canyon Trail and Jasper Skytram are still closed, and I don't know when I will be able to come back.
I suddenly felt a little emotional. Life is often like this. We are always in a hurry to get to the next destination, and even when we encounter beautiful things, we cannot fully immerse ourselves in them and appreciate them. We always think that we will have another chance, but the world is unpredictable, and we may not have another chance. Even if we do, if we still have the same mindset, it will just be a repeat of the previous journey. Suddenly, I felt that the phrase "enjoy the moment" is not so decadent. From a different perspective, it even feels very positive and optimistic.
Tips:
⛱️Must-visit attractions: 6 bridges, all worth visiting if you have time; if you are short on time, visit bridges 1-4
🚄Transportation: There is a large parking lot, so it is a good idea to arrive early
💗Other: There is no mobile phone signal in this area, so remember to download offline maps on Google Maps in advance

Why you must visit Banff Park at least once in your life
Banff self-drive for five days and four nights🚗 Checking the map🗺️, calculating driving times and distances, and which hotel is both comfortable and convenient along the way haha😃 And no backtracking~ A meticulously planned itinerary🚗 Just copy my homework❗
Day 1️⃣ Calgary Airport — Self-drive to Banff, Alberta
📍Stroll around Banff town
(There's a store in town that sells Canada Goose, they restock every day, I got my down jacket the second day I went there)
🏨The Hidden Ridge Resort
Has a kitchen! Easy parking, located on the hillside, the room has a great view
DAY 2️⃣ Banff Gondola — Banff Upper Hot Springs — Vermilion Lakes
📍15mins drive from the hotel to take the Banff Gondola (Banff Gondola), a four-seater, about 8 minutes to reach the top of Sulphur Mountain at 2285 meters, overlooking the majestic Rocky Mountains, especially beautiful
📍The world-famous Banff Upper Hot Springs, mixed bathing, swimsuits required~ If you're not afraid of the cold, go for it!
📍Vermilion Lakes are about 3 kilometers from Banff town, three lakes surrounded by marshland, with Mount Rundle in the background
Day 3️⃣ Banff (Two Jack Lake + Minnewanka Lake + Lake Louise) — Yoho National Park, Canada (Emerald Lake)
📍16mins drive from Banff town to Two Jack Lake, the lake is blue and green, very beautiful.
📍Another 5mins to Minnewanka Lake, the largest and deepest lake in Banff National Park, located east of Banff town.
📍Lake Louise is known as the 'Sapphire of the Rocky Mountains', the lake reflects the silhouette of Mount Victoria, opposite is the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel (you can book their afternoon tea🍰 online in advance, the view is absolutely stunning)
📍Emerald Lake is the largest lake in Yoho National Park, known as the 'Emerald of the Rocky Mountains'. The green lake water reflects the surrounding forest, snow-capped mountains, and peaks
🏨Chapel Mountain Lodge
This hotel is all individual cabins, located in Yoho National Park, the rooms are very characteristic, with fireplaces and lofts (super love)!
Day 4️⃣ Columbia Icefield +Glacier Skywalk — Athabasca Falls — Jasper National Park
📍Definitely visit the Columbia Icefield! So beautiful⛰️ Park in the parking lot, take their Ice Explorer large vehicle🚗
📍You can also encounter Athabasca Falls on Highway 93A
📍Maligne Lake is the largest natural lake in Jasper National Park
🏨Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge
Stayed in the villa area of the hotel, open the back door of the room and there's the lake, the hotel itself is a resort park, the rooms are very large
Day 5️⃣ Jasper National Park (Maligne Canyon) — Edmonton, Alberta
📍Maligne Canyon is the longest, deepest, and most scenic canyon in the Rocky Mountains. Unique karst topography, walk 6 bridges along the valley trail
📍West Edmonton Mall (West Edmonton Mall) is the largest in North America and the fifth largest shopping center in the world, the special Canada Goose clothes on the homepage were bought here!
Finally, after returning the car at Edmonton Airport, I chose to fly to the old town of Yellowknife to see the Aurora😃
The Hungry Roamer
It is 2 kilometers long, only 1 meter at the narrowest point, and the Ma Lin Canyon at the deepest point of 55 meters is a deep "crack" embedded in the rock, which is washed by the Ma Lin River day after day. It is different from the magnificent feeling of the Grand Canyon of the United States. The
tour route is marked by six bridges over the canyon. The six bridges are not close together. If you want to walk from the 1st bridge to the 6th bridge, it takes half a day. We only walked two bridges and felt the scenery was very general. We gave up the third and fourth bridges, then drove to the sixth bridge, and the scenery was flat.
[Ticket Information] If you have bought tickets for Jasper National Park, you don't need to buy tickets for this attraction in one day.
[Opening hours] Open all year round, in case of heavy snowstorms, etc. Natural disasters will be notified to visitors in advance, please pay attention to local weather and official website news.
[Traffic information] The most convenient way to drive.
Blue Tulip.
This is a typical karst landform. The Ma Lin River flowing out of the upper Ma Lin Lake passes through it. A limestone gorge about 2 kilometers long and curved deep is cut on the limestone. The sides of the gorge are mostly vertical cliffs, and the narrow places are only a few meters wide. Because the drop is very large, the water is rushing, and there are more than a dozen waterfalls. The sound of the whole valley is roaring, which makes people feel terrified. Canyon waterfalls abound in front of the Ma Lin Canyon, typical karst terrain. There is an introduction to the formation of karst landforms at the entrance. It is a must-see for Jasper National Park.
