The Macau Museum is located close to the Ruins of St Paul's. It is a nice place to visit after you take a walk at the ruins. Some say the best way to understand a city is through their museum. There are 3 storeys in the museum. The first level is about the history of Macau. The second level is my favourite part, display of arts and cultural things. The third floor is about contemporary social conditions. You could see the influence of Portuguese and Chinese cultures here. Woke-up early to witness a beautiful sunrise at Mount Fortress or also know as the Monte Forte/ official name Fortaleza do Monte. The walk going up at the Mount Fortress is refreshing, and surely you will witness a beautiful sunrise. The Fortaleza do Monte is one of the historical landmark in Macau. You can also enter and go up through the Macau Museum and see a beautiful and historical collection while heading to the fortress. A lot of locals also wake up early to do some exercise/ walking and jogging at the the fortress, since the air and view is relaxing. Don’t forget to visit the fortress when you visit Macau. The scenery remained the same, but the people were completely different. I didn’t expect that the usually bustling Ruins of St. Paul’s would be so quiet at this time. Many shops were closed, even McDonald’s was closed. Only a few sneaker shops and souvenir shops were left. But I actually enjoy the experience of quietly touring the scenic spots. The quiet environment allows me to slowly experience this city that combines Chinese and Western cultures. After taking photos at the Ruins of St. Paul’s, we went into the Macau Museum for a visit. You need to scan a QR code to enter, and there are few people inside. Also worth visiting is the Mount Fortress Garden, a welcome respite with its pleasant moat-like pond and flower beds, and the Moorish-style Mansão Evocativa de Sun Yat-Sen, a mansion built in memory of Sun Yat-sen, founder of the first Chinese Republic. This was an interesting little museum in the old town of Macau. It’s cheap to get in and it’s worth a look, but it’s not a must do by any measure. It was not until 1998 that it was changed into a museum. It is a good place to learn about Macau. It takes 15 Australian dollars to go to the museum. Credit cards or Alipay cannot be used here. The museum only accepts payment in cash. There are no toilets in the museum. You can take pictures inside the museum, but be sure not to use the flash.

I recommend crossing through the Hengqin Port, as it's closer and less crowded. Getting through customs in Macau takes only five minutes. The modern exhibition on the third floor showcases the development of contemporary Macau, allowing me to feel the pulse and vitality of this city. In the museum, I am not just a spectator, but also a part of this history. I feel extremely gratified when I see other tourists being attracted by this ocean of culture. Walking among the stone steps, you can feel the splendor of St. Paul's Church in the past. Subsequently, we came to the Macau Museum, which vividly displays Macau’s history, culture and diverse background before our eyes with its multimedia display. From the life scenes of the native Portuguese to the development of trade in Macau, the exhibits in the museum provide a deeper understanding of the city’s past and present. Standing on the roof of the museum overlooking the panoramic view of Macau, the picture of history and modernity intertwined is particularly moving. Day 2: The interweaving of ancient architecture and modern life The next day, we started at Guan Ye Street in Taipa, which is full of Macau’s authentic style. Whether it’s Portuguese desserts or Chinese snacks, it’s unforgettable. In the afternoon, we came to the front of the Assembly Pavilion, where the Portuguese-style buildings and lively street performances made people feel like they were in Europe. The small shops and restaurants around the square are full of local characteristics, making it the best place to taste Macau life. Finally, as the sun set, we strolled through this historic neighborhood, bringing the trip to a successful end.

On New Year's Eve, we spent a total of seven hours in Macao, only touring the small peninsula. What impressed me the most was not the MGM Cotai Museum or the Tree of Prosperity at Wynn Macau, but the Mount Fortress Garden and Macao Museum next to the Ruins of St. Paul's. The Macao Museum happened to have an exhibition of cultural relics from the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang dynasties. New Year's Eve happened to be a Tuesday, so we got in for free. The "Heavenly Wind: Cultural Relics of the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang Dynasties" exhibition invited 14 museums to participate, including the Shaanxi History Museum, the Museum of the Terracotta Warriors and Horses of Qin Shihuang, the Hunan Museum, the Hebei Museum, the Gansu Provincial Museum, the Yangling Mausoleum of Han Emperor Jingdi, the Famen Temple Museum, the Xianyang Museum, the Zhaoling Museum, the Qianling Museum, the Liyang Ancient City (Qin Bamboo Slips) Museum in Longshan County, the Chang'an Museum in Xi'an, the Baoji Pre-Qin Cemetery Museum, and the Xunyi County Museum. The exhibition features 100 (sets) of cultural relics from the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang dynasties, with a wide variety of rare and precious items. The cultural relics on display are not only witnesses to the development of Chinese civilization, but also valuable assets for all of humanity, having a profound impact on the progress of world civilization. Through exhibits such as Zhou bronze ritual vessels, Qin terracotta warriors, Han figurines, and Tang tri-colored figurines in four exhibition areas, the public can learn about the ritual and music systems, military strength, craftsmanship, and cultural and artistic achievements of each dynasty. The exhibition is equipped with multimedia interactive devices and videos, enriching the public's viewing experience and guiding them to understand the historical evolution and cultural connotations of each dynasty in a simple and easy-to-understand way. The "Heavenly Wind: Cultural Relics of the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang Dynasties" exhibition will run until March 16, 2025, and the public is welcome to visit. The Macao Museum is open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm (ticket sales stop at 5:30 pm) and is closed on Mondays.
