As if arriving at Lu Xun Park in Jiangnan
Lu Xun Park was established in 1939, originally named Jinjiang Garden, and is a comprehensive park with nearly a hundred years of history that combines leisure, exercise, and popular science entertainment. In the early days of Shenyang's liberation, it was renamed Lu Xun Park to commemorate Mr. Lu Xun.
Upon entering Lu Xun Park, one is first attracted by the white walls and black tiles of the Hui-style architecture, which is built in the style of Jiangnan gardens and visually presents the exquisite beauty of Jiangnan's water towns, filled with the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture.
The south gate of the park, which is also the main entrance, features a background wall with white walls and black tiles that complements the style of the surrounding Jiangnan gardens. In front of the background wall, there is a small square with a bronze statue of Lu Xun sitting in the center, surrounded by bright red flowers.
The arched gates on both sides of the park are not large, but they have the typical characteristics of Jiangnan architecture. Behind the background wall, there is an inscription of Mr. Lu Xun's biography and the history of the park. To the left of the background wall is the lake area landscape, where the lotus flowers bloom beautifully in summer. The grass pond bridge meanders to the octagonal pavilion on the water, which is painted in vermilion and decorated with flying eaves, presenting a wing-like posture. The pavilion and the weeping willows reflect each other, creating a natural harmony.
The park is filled with towering trees and blooming flowers. On the rockery in the park, there is a 'Child with Ox' statue, and nearby are the Guanyu Pavilion, the Evening Fragrance Pavilion, and the White Cloud Pavilion, accompanied by a transparent-style fence, making the entire park very quiet and elegant, a beautiful sight to behold, and a great place for people to relax, sightsee, and exercise.
The reason why Shenyang built Lu Xun Park is that Shenyang has a deep connection with Lu Xun.
In 2019, Lu Xun's great-grandson Zhou Lingfei shared the story of Lu Xun and Shenyang: 'Shenyang is a city closely related to Lu Xun's spirit and culture. The first complete collection of Lu Xun's works was published in Shenyang. There is also the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts and Lu Xun Park in Shenyang. Every time I come to Shenyang, I feel very close to it.'
After visiting Lu Xun Park and listening to the story of Lu Xun and Shenyang, I suggest you take a walk in the Nan Yunhe Linear Park opposite the park. The riverside road in the park can be called 'Literature Road,' where book-shaped sculptures of writers such as Lu Xun, Bing Xin, and Mao Dun are erected, and through these sculptures, it's like taking a modern literature class, gaining a deeper understanding of these writers' lives and works.
After reading the above introduction,
if you are a literature lover and like Lu Xun,
are you moved?
If so, go check out Lu Xun Park.
