The fact that they have stood there for thousands of years is awe-inspiring. At sunset, the statues, bathed in a reddish glow, felt like living gods. The guide explained that the sounds emanating from the statues were once called 'Memnon's Cry,' believed by ancient people to be the voice of the gods. Hearing this made the statues feel even more mystical.
