Make sure to allocate enough time for this stop on your trip to Western Portugal... ⛱️Must-visit attractions: ❶Luís I Bridge🌉: Spanning the old and new towns, be sure to take the tram🚋 and slowly enjoy the scenery passing by the window. ❷Lello Bookstore📖: The world's most beautiful bookstore, with long queues. You can check in at the Hogwarts spiral staircase, but it's a pity I didn't go inside. Instead, I bought some delicious ice cream🍨 at the door. ❸Church of the Holy Spirit: The blue and white porcelain facade is very eye-catching and photogenic 🌄Travel tips: I personally think that citywalk, wandering without a specific purpose, is the best way. The city is not big, and it's generally enough to visit in 1-2 days. 💗Other tips: If you're arranging a trip to both Spain and Portugal, local flights are economical. Coming to Porto is like walking into an endless summer. This European sunset city, every frame is like a movie. Compared to Lisbon, I prefer the less popular here. Porto is not big, a day tour is completely enough. These few spots must be checked in❗️ 1️⃣Sunset viewing platform 📍Miradouro da vitoria You can take a panoramic view of the Luis I Bridge and the Douro River. 📍Miradouro da Serra do Pilar The sunset train panorama is almost all shot here, and the nearby Hill garden can also see the sunset. 2️⃣Unique blue and white porcelain wall 📍Capela das Almas 📍Sao Bento Staion The train station paved with blue and white porcelain. 📍Chapel of Souls 📍Igreja do Carmo The blue and white porcelain exterior walls of these two are very exquisite. 3️⃣Casa Museu Fernando de Castro A small museum recommended by locals, with many art collections. 4️⃣Lello Bookstore It is said to be the place that inspired JK Rowling to write Harry Potter, and the stairs in the bookstore are very cinematic. 🥩Vaccarum A steakhouse that I accidentally walked into next to the homestay I stayed in, it's delicious and large in portion, and the price is not expensive.

The landmark of Porto

Every visit to Porto will encounter the beautiful Luis I bridge. It is double decked so you can walk on top and at the bottom. Try both for different perspectives of the city! The bridge is immediately recognisable as a sign of the city and is currently undergoing renovation work. On a sunny day, walk to Jardim do Morro for the sunset views, then cross back to walk alongside the harbor!

This is the most beautiful attraction in Porto. When you walk along the top of the bridge, the view of the city on the river and the trams that rush past is wonderful. Double-deck Metal Arch Bridge

#celebratewithtrip This iconic arching iron bridge straddles the Douro River, connecting Porto to Vila Nova de Gaia. The lower level is for cars ( under restoration), and Porto's Metro Line D on its upper level, pedestrians can walk along the bridge at both levels. Take metro line D to Jardim do Morro station, then stroll along the upper deck of the bridge and you will rewarded with spectacular views of edifices built into the hillside cliffs that line the river. Proceed to the lower level, either by cable car ( pay money ) or walk, the lower level currently under restoration, so nothing much to see. Porto is known for having quite a few bridges, the Dom Luis I Bridge is especially renowned because it was designed by the students of Gustave Eiffel, the mastermind behind the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Plus at the time of its completion in 1886, this bridge was the longest arch in the world

Porto has surely gained a lot of attention over the last few years, and for good reasons: it’s vibrant, colorful, easy, not expensive at all and you can get everywhere on foot! As soon as I stepped out of the São Bento station right before sunset I was invested by the energy of this city and started exploring every part of it, starting from the Dom Luis I bridge over the Douro river, which is definitely the first stop I suggest to have a fantastic view of Porto and its prominent Ribeira district. What I loved the most was wandering through its steep, colorful alleys that are still incredibly authentic and mostly untouched. Put in some good, comfortable shoes then get lost in this part of the city. At the top of the city there are some incredible churches, like Igreja do Carmo and Capela das almas: these two have some amazing facades entirely covered by tens of thousands of blue tiles called “azulejos”. You can see these azulejos across the city in other spots too, including the station as mentioned earlier of São Bento. A 15-minute bus or train ride will get you to the beach to breath in some air from the Atlantic Ocean. You can either go to the lighthouse at Foz do Douro or head over to Senhor da Pedra’s beach, notable for its small church on the rocks! A visit to Porto (and Portugal in general) is not complete without eating a lot of pasteis de nata as well. Traveling to Portugal, walking into Porto, the second largest city, it takes only over an hour to fly from Madrid to Porto, which is very convenient. Porto faces the Atlantic Ocean, with its country name and port wine from Porto, the old town and the surrounding wine region are world heritage sites. Actually, the old town of Porto is very small. Most of the sights can be reached by walking. Of course, it is the Louis I Bridge, which is a steel arch bridge. It is the same designer as the Eiffel Tower. The bridge has a total of two floors, with a car and people walking on the ground floor and trams and people walking on the upper level. Standing on the bridge and looking at Porto in the distance, I can imagine that by the time of Portugal's heyday, there are now old and run-down. In addition to the Louis I Bridge, you can also go to the Cardo Cathedral, Pastor Tower, Lero Bookstore, Freedom Square, Douro River and many more. Standing on the bridge, watching the tram walk gently, watching the beauty of the Douro River, suddenly did not want to go back.

For visitors outside Europe, Porto Porto is a low-lying place people always think of flying to the capital of Lisbon. Moreover, when I was writing this article, I struggled countless times with the Bordeaux, which was automatically associated with the input method. This is the second largest city in Portugal. One Day in Porto: Porto’s Charm in 24 Hours

Spending a day in Porto is like stepping into a charming, historic fairytale. Start your morning with a stroll along the Ribeira district, the view of the old bridges and the historic Porto Cathedral is breathtaking! For lunch, we tried the classic Francesinha sandwich (a must try)! Then, head to a port wine cellar for a tasting. St John’s Festival

St John’s Festival, June 24th, is the grandest festival in Porto. On the evening of the 23rd, which is St John’s Festival Eve, it is just like Christmas and Christmas Eve. Before checking in, I was notified by email: try to check in before 4 PM, otherwise, after that time, the city will have traffic control. Reluctantly bidding farewell to the manor shrouded in light mist and rain, I hurried to Porto. While secretly delighted to have once again stumbled upon a grand festival, I couldn't help but worry about restaurants closing and not finding good food, just like on the Feast of Corpus Christi in Coimbra. As soon as I stepped out of São Bento train station, the festive atmosphere was palpable. Street vendors lined the streets, selling mostly various snacks, drinks, and plastic hammers. The former replenishes energy, while the latter embodies the spirit of revelry. As a 'self-defense weapon,' getting one for 3 euros was quite necessary. The festive atmosphere ignited the whole city, with explosive music coming from different directions on the streets and from upstairs. Walking on the road, if you are not careful, you might get hit on the head by a plastic hammer swung from who knows where, making the world spin. At night, Ribeira Quay was crowded with people, either sitting on the ground or dancing to the upbeat music. Some hid in a corner, using 'long-stemmed purple flowers' and fishing techniques to gently brush the purple flowers over passersby. This 'flirting' method is quite creative. At midnight, fireworks burst into the sky on time. What's not to miss? - The city revolves around the Ponte Luís I Bridge which carries the main tram network at an astonishing height over the River Duoro. - Taste the finest Port the world has to offer, very close to its source. - Take in some history and striking views across the unblemished city from the Clérigos Church and it's tower. - Experience the vintage tram network on a tour along the river shore. - Take in the sights on a tour of the city, including a view of the somewhat bizarre but unique 'She Changes' - a glimpse of Porto's architectureal offering. Walking through the Ribeira district felt like stepping back in time, with its medieval alleyways, ancient churches, and picturesque squares. The iconic Dom Luís I Bridge, designed by a disciple of Gustave Eiffel, offered breathtaking views of the city and the Douro River below. Crossing it on foot was an exhilarating experience, especially as the setting sun bathed the city in a golden glow. One of the highlights of my trip was visiting the Livraria Lello, often cited as one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world. Its neo-Gothic architecture, intricate wooden carvings, and stunning stained glass ceiling created an atmosphere that was both magical and inspiring. I could easily see why it is said to have inspired J.K. Rowling while she was writing the Harry Potter series. The food in Porto was another unforgettable aspect of my visit. Portuguese cuisine, with its rich flavors and fresh ingredients, was a delight. I indulged in traditional dishes such as bacalhau à brás (a codfish dish) and feasted on pastéis de nata (custard tarts) at local bakeries. However, the standout meal was a hearty francesinha—a sandwich layered with various meats, covered in melted cheese, and smothered in a rich tomato and beer sauce. Pairing this with a glass of local port wine was a culinary experience I won’t soon forget. The people of Porto were warm and welcoming, adding to the overall charm of the city. Whether I was seeking directions, recommendations, or simply a friendly chat, the locals were always happy to help, making me feel at home. My experience in Porto was a perfect blend of cultural exploration, culinary delights, and genuine hospitality. It’s a city that invites you to slow down, soak in its beauty, and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. I left Porto with a heart full of fond memories and a deep appreciation for this enchanting city.

In my recent trip to Porto , I have stayed here for 3 days and enjoyed the scenery of the city inside. The Luis I Bridge is one of the signature signs for attractions you have to see, I went to the observation point in Porto and the name is Jardim do Motto. The famous bridge in Porto, known as the Dom Luís I Bridge, is a breathtaking architectural marvel. This iconic double-deck iron bridge spans the Douro River and offers spectacular panoramic views of the city and the picturesque waterfront. Designed by Gustave Eiffel's protege, it boasts intricate lattice work and towering stone pillars that exude a sense of grandeur. The lower level allows pedestrians and trams to traverse while the upper level is reserved for vehicles. As you stroll across, the vistas of Porto's colorful buildings, historic Ribeira district, and the river below are truly mesmerizing, making it a must-visit attraction in this enchanting Portuguese city.

Crossing the Douro River to the Louis I Bridge

Ponte de Dom Luís I (Luís I Bridge) The Luís I Bridge is a double-decker steel arch bridge completed at the end of the 19th century. At that time, it was the longest span bridge in the world. Today the record has long since been broken, but it remains a major landmark in Porto. The ground level of the bridge is used for cars, while the upper level is used for light rail. There are also pedestrian paths on both levels. The bottom level of the bridge is really narrow, but the photos are beautiful, but you need to be quick because it will hold up the back. The bridge is a high-rise building, the wind was as strong as a No. 3 typhoon signal, and the light rail train was passing by at high speed... Halfway through, my feet were weak, so I didn't dare to take a photo. In fact, it is safe, but those who are afraid of heights beware!

Across Dom Luís Bridge in Porto

The view from Dom Luís Bridge must be one of the most iconic sights in Porto and crossing the bridge to Vila Nova de Gaia is definitely worth your time. On the other side, there are many Port wineries where you can do wine tasting. This time around, we decided to skip them and just do it at a bar on the river shore. For 5 euros, you get to taste 5 different Port and you can share them if you don’t feel like drinking too much. I wanted to see the sunrise, so got to the bridge early. There was no one and a dense fog covered the bridge, so no sunrise but it was nice anyway!
