Luoyang: Folk Museum
Luoyang Folk Museum: A museum dedicated to promoting Heluo culture and showcasing folk customs. The museum is built on the site of the ancient Luze Guild Hall.
The Luze Guild Hall was built in the ninth year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1744 AD) by merchants from Lu'an Prefecture (now Changzhi) and Zezhou Prefecture (now Jincheng) in Shanxi Province. It was mainly used for the exchange of information and goods among fellow merchants and is a product of Shanxi merchant culture.
The entire ancient building complex is well-structured and covers an area of 15,750 square meters. It is one of the best-preserved and most magnificent ancient building complexes in the Central Plains region.
The architectural design and construction techniques represent the pinnacle of Qing Dynasty local architecture in Henan Province, making it an outstanding example of Qing Dynasty local ancient architecture in the Central Plains region.
The architectural decoration is exquisite, with intricate wood and stone carvings, making it a dazzling gem in the treasure trove of carving art in the Central Plains region.
