Guangxi's Hidden Peach Blossom Land | Unlock a little-known 100-year-old Mulao ancient village.
|Unlock a little-known 100-year-old Mulao ancient village. Located in Yayi Scenic Area, Xiaochangan Town, Luocheng Mulao Autonomous County, Hechi, Sanyantang is a homestay in the village. In the Mulao language, Yayi means "hello." The ancient village was built during the Daoguang era and has a history of 200 years. The entire village is shaded by ancient trees, with yellow walls and black tiles, and a quiet and warm atmosphere.
It is said that the entire village is being renovated, but only a small part is currently open, including a café and front desk, 5 guest rooms, a restaurant, and an indigenous life exhibition hall. The renovation did not involve demolishing and rebuilding the old houses, but rather preserving the local architectural features while incorporating new design elements, creating a comfortable coexistence with modern living spaces.
Just outside the homestay is a boat dock, where the clear Wuyang River flows slowly in front of you. The green mountains, bamboo forests, and blue sky cast their reflections on the river, creating a clear and bright scene. The river, starry sky, vegetable fields, and beautiful and poetic dwellings offer an immersive experience of working at sunrise and resting at sunset. In the evening, the lights shine through the wooden windows onto the stone path back to the house, and the essence of life unfolds like a painting, within reach.
🏠Rooms: 1.8-meter king bed, cloakroom, tea table, small living room with fireplace, independent writing and reading space, and a bathroom with separate wet and dry areas.
😋Food: The elder sister in the store makes a bamboo basket feast, with fresh and tender vegetable leaves wrapped in barbecued pork and glutinous rice fried in sesame oil, mixed with pickled vegetables and peanuts, offering a rich taste with local characteristics.
🛋️Public area: The front desk is a small space for coffee during the day and drinks at night, where you can sit by the fireplace and play with the kittens in the evening. I especially like sitting in the courtyard, watching the sunset gently caress the river, sparkling and shining, and listening to the chickens crowing and birds chirping in the morning, while the elder sisters chat and do laundry by the river.
"Shedding the glamorous exterior, returning to the pure essence of life, without the hustle and bustle of the city, only a few small houses, a few loved ones, limited but fresh ingredients, and the changing sky and land outside the window." Occasionally, on a gap day, as the ancients said, enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
