Longji Rice Terraces is not only a magnificent tourist area with a long history and great Chinese cultural value. The local specialty "Longji Four Treasures" tea, fragrant glutinous rice, water wine and chili are also famous and important products. Longji Rice Terraces is a very large-scale terrace group in Guilin. It is divided into three parts: Jinkeng Rice Terraces, Ping'an Zhuang Rice Terraces, and Longji Ancient Zhuangzhai Rice Terraces. When visiting the Longji Rice Terraces, most people mainly enjoy the scenery and take photos on foot.

Until I encountered the magnificent scenery of Longji Terraces! I was so lucky to see the stunning beauty of Longji Terraces just before the rice harvest. I finally understood the saying: No words can compare to seeing it with your own eyes. 🌾 This year's harvest date: October 27. If you want to see the terraces, hurry up! If you miss it, you'll have to wait another year. 📸 Photography guide: To see the terraces at Longji, you can choose Jinkeng Village, Ping'an Zhuang Village, or Guzhuang Village. Jinkeng Village has the latest harvest and the most beautiful scenery. There are three viewing platforms here: No. 1 Xishan Shaole, No. 2 Thousand-Layer Ladder, and No. 3 Jinfo Top Viewing Platform, which is the highest and can be reached by cable car. If you choose to hike, I highly recommend the No. 2 Viewing Platform! It's a 20-minute climb from the mountainside homestay. Locals highly recommend the No. 2 Viewing Platform, claiming it has the best views. 🎫 Ticket: CNY 80 per person. 🌾 Best photo spots: ✔️ "Mountain for a Thousand Years" is a homestay located halfway up the mountain, offering panoramic views of the terraces. Even without a drone, you can take great photos. ✔️ Thousand-Layer Ladder: The viewing platform is spacious, and you can capture large areas of terraces from any angle. The only downside is that if you don't participate in the paid photography project, you can't go down to take photos. 🚘 Transportation: Longsheng is a county town with no high-speed rail station. You can take a bus from Yangshuo (Bilian Cave Parking Lot) to Jinkeng Village, which costs CNY 90 per person and takes about 4 hours. The bus from Guilin to Jinkeng Village costs CNY 50–65 per person (departing from the train station, prices vary by station) and takes 3 hours. Be sure to buy a direct ticket to Jinkeng Village, not to the Longji Terraces Ticket Office. If you can book a viewing room, don't book a regular room. The viewing room has a balcony and is beautiful and photogenic. Last month I went to Guangxi with my friends. When it comes to Guangxi, everyone knows that 'Guilin's landscape is the best under heaven'. In fact, around Guilin, there is another beautiful terraced field scenic area - Longji Terraced Fields, known as the 'crown of the world's terraced fields'. Blue sky and white clouds☁, layers of terraces🌾, like a huge ink painting in front of my eyes, exactly the same as what I saw in the TV commercials, casually shooting is a big scene effect, I really regret why I only come now! The terraces have different beauty in each season, the best check-in season is from May to October: 🌾May-June: Watering period, watch 'mirror terraces' 🌾July-September: Growing period, watch 'matcha green terraces' 🌾End of September-October: Autumn harvest period, watch 'golden terraces' ⛰️About the scenic spot: Longji Terraced Fields is a large-scale terraced field group. Ping'an Terraced Fields and Jinkeng Terraced Fields are the main viewing areas. Ping'an was developed earlier and has more tourists. Jinkeng was developed later but is larger and has more viewing points. Therefore, we chose to stay in Jinkeng Terraced Fields this time for convenience. 🏠About accommodation: There are many homestays in the Longji scenic area. We chose the Muye Chenxi Homestay, which is very close to the viewing platform. It takes 5-20 minutes to walk🚶🏻 to the viewing platform 1-2. The important thing is that I really like the design style of this homestay! The overall design comes from the hands of British huang family architects. Whether it's design aesthetics or living experience, it didn't disappoint us. During the flood season, the Li River and Yulong River are gurgling, making it the best time to participate in water sports. From August to October, the sun is abundant and the rain gradually decreases, which is the golden period for outdoor activities. The environment with blooming lotus flowers and water sports such as Gudong Falls and Longjing River rafting add a lot of points to the entire trip. From November to December, the ginkgo trees are golden, and the Lijiang River Fishing and Fire Festival will also be held in December. There are two modes of transportation to reach Guilin: plane and train. Guilin Liangjiang International Airport is the second largest international airport in Guangxi and operates more than 20 major domestic cities and routes. Air tickets are cheap in winter, making it a good time to travel. Guilin currently has three railway stations: Guilin South Railway Station, Guilin West Railway Station, and Guilin North Railway Station. They have a very wide span and go to major cities in the country. Most of the trains along the Nanning and Changsha lines depart from Guilin Station. There are three ways to reach Yangshuo: car, Li River cruise and train. There are buses from Guilin Bus Terminal to Yangshuo. The fare is about 30 yuan and it takes about 1.5 hours. The Li River cruise is the choice of most tourists, allowing them to enjoy the landscape of Guilin in one go. In addition, if you don’t want to go to Guilin first and then go to Yangshuo, you can also take a train directly to Yangshuo Station. Please note that Yangshuo does not have an airport.

I heard that the harvest would be on October 29th, so I booked the ticket at 6 o'clock and set off at 10 o'clock. The golden terraces are very bright when photographed in the evening at sunset. On May 11, I went to Guilin Longji Scenic Area, which is a national 4A tourist scenic area. It is the largest terraced field in Guilin. When I went to appreciate the beautiful terraced field landscape on that day, the weather was not good, so I had a very short time to appreciate the beautiful terraced field scenery. 🚌 We took a 2 hour bus from Guilin City centre at 09:00 and back again at 17:30. You can book this through the local tour guide agencies around town. 🥾There is an option to take the cable car, but if you are moderately active, take the hiking path down instead. It will take you through some villages, houses and get you close up pictures with the rice fields. 🥟There are plenty of local food options at the start and top of the terrace. Longji Rice Terraces Scenic Area is very large and have 3 main villages. From Guilin it's around 1 and half hour drive. There is a big parking place and then electric car drive you to the hotel. You can spend one or two nights there and enjoy in a view and amazing nature. Food is also very good, try some local dishes and there is a lot of hotels with a good view from the room. We went during winter season, so the terraces were filled with water and reflected the warm sun as we hiked up the hills to see them. We loved not only the beautiful views, but also the hospitality from the local minority people who walked us there and also fed us in their home with traditional bamboo cooked rice.

In Longsheng, a deep mountain village in China's Guangxi Province, there is a village called Yongcheokjeon, where the Zhuang people live by farming on the mountainside almost to the top of the mountain. The reason this place is called that is because the terraced fields look like a dragon's spine. It was a travel destination where you could feel the history of ethnic minorities who migrated to the mountains to escape the Han Chinese, and the strength and greatness of humans who tried to make a living. The Longhorn Rice Terrace, located in the town of Longji, which is roughly 100 kilometers from Guilin, China. There are lots of tourists agent provide one day trip from the city of Guilin. If you have never seen Rice Terrace before, this one is a must go. The view is so spectacular. There are choices of cable car or climb up. I choose not to take cable car this time, and the hiking is not bad at all. The view is fantastic along the route and you can even see some old villages along the route. The view on the top is even more great though, so if you are not a sport person, maybe just take the cable car. This place is more beautiful in fall time, but prepare for lots of tourists if you chose to go during the busy season

A wonderful day trip from Guilin. We arranged a private driver to take us as it was very hot and didn't want to spend the entire day exposed. There are, however, several options for organised tours available with the tourist agencies in Guilin. The drive from Guilin is nothing short of beautiful and the terraces are spectacular. Several villages on the way to stop for refreshments. We left after lunch and had enough time to visit only one of the terraces. If you go early in the morning you will be able to visit all three and visit the village where the women have very long hair. The cable car is a quick and easy way to get to the top of the terrace, but you can also hike up if you have more time.

This is definitely one of the most mindblowing attractions that we've visited in China so far! It is hard to believe that all these terraces are made by hands of peasants under the shining southern sun! We would definitely recommend to take a cableway first upon arrival and to take a small hike to your hotel after to get immediate dive into local atmosphere! 🚕🚎🚌 It is convinient to get here from Guilin by bus, that departures from Xiangjiang hotel ( 广西壮族自治区桂林市象山区环城西一路141号) around noon. It is a long distance bus, that goes without stops through really picturesque mountains! 🏞🏔🗻 This is a perfect place for hiking, with absolutely amazing roots. There are short and long trails, pretty wild and developed ones, designed to enjoy sunrises and sunsets. Everyone will be definitely able to find one suitable for themselves! 🏚🏠🏡 You can find all kind of boutique hotels here - not only fancy and glamorous, but also very simple and authentic options. 🍟🍔🍕 Local authentic Chinese cuisine is available more or less everywhere in small villages along terraces, but finding some European cuisine can be little bit challenging. Be aware that there are no McDonalds, KFC and other fast food chains here, but you can always enjoy a bowl of famous delicious local noodles pretty much everywhere. Once you've reached the ticket office, you can take the shuttle bus (30 minutes) to Longji Ancient Zhuang Village, Ping'an Village, or Dazhai Village, the three villages that serve as gateways to the breathtaking hillside rice fields. Attractions - Longsheng County is home to the famous Longji Rice Terraces, a mind-boggling feat of agricultural engineering. The seemingly endless rows of rice terraces carved into the hillsides are said to resemble the rippling scales on a dragon's backbone when filled with water, giving the terraces their name, which literally means "dragon's spine." Accommodation - Staying overnight in a traditional wooden guesthouse is another great experience. There are many such guesthouses in the villages that overlook the rice terraces, but be aware that their conditions and services are not comparable to hotels in the big cities. Food - Visiting these minority villages is also a great opportunity to try some local cuisine; some of the best-known dishes include rice or chicken cooked inside fresh bamboo tubes. Definitely worth a try!

Guilin has magical places but my favourite was Longsheng Rice Terraces, also known as Longji Rice Terraces. This place offers amazing landscapes which can be visited all year long as it changes completely according to the season. if you want to see the rice fields in golden shades as my pictures then it is recommended to go during autumn. on our trip to Yangshuo for 3 days , we planned to visit one of the most popular destinations in Guilin the Longsheng rice terraces , it is 3 hours away a from Yangshuo so usually people self drive or book cabs and stay the night at the beautiful hotels , we had to travel back to Yangshuo as everything was closed and completely barren and deserted due to the travel restrictions and covid situation in shanghai literally not a single tourist in sight , though it lets us soak in the beauty of this place in full capacity , you can’t stop thinking about the people who lost business while walking past the closed hotels , restaurants covered in dust and barely any locals around. we wanted to meet and learn more about the ethnic groups of this region but couldn’t as the circumstances didn’t permit.

Beautiful sunny day! Three day holiday in Guilin. One day was just hiking the area. Would definitely recommend!

As soon as we landed in Guilin we took a didi to the ticketing office, from there we were to take bus, one of the craziest bus rides I've ever experienced, often hanging over edge cliffs and the local ethnic groups getting on and off the bus, this.. was for locals. The bus dropped us off at a terminal, where we were given the option of a taxi or a chair lift, we opted chair lift and I'm happy about that decision. You get a 360 degree uninterrupted view of the rice terrace appearing from no where, truly a beautiful sight. At the top you can walk around and look at the sheer vastness of this man made creation, how amazinf rhe irrigation must be, and there's also shops and small food stalls too. It takes about 2+ hours car ride from Guilin to Longji Terrace Fields. As private cars are not allow in the mountain, one will need to take the shuttle bus which cost RMB25 to the Longji Terrace Fields. The drop off point is at the viewing deck of Nine Dragons and Five Tigers. From here, you will be able to capture the entire terrace fields and the Pingan village on camera. Longji Terrace Fields certainly warrant to be one of the best scenic sights in China. It’s a breathtaking views from here as the fields resemble the vertical stripes of tigers. Hike down to the Pingan Village to catch a glimpse of the Zhuang ethnic minority. In the village, there are several inns or hotels available if one choose to spend the night. Continue to follow the directional signs (available in English) to the Seven Stars Accompany the Moon, a viewing deck to capture another angle of the terrace fields. The weather was gloomy and it started to rain. The cloud slowly drifting in covering the entire terrace fields and mountains creating a mystical picture perfect moments.
