Black Myth: Wukong in Shandong, chose this niche treasure land - Dragon Tiger Pagoda
Black Monkey's third episode passed! It's really a visual feast, a collection of the essence of Jin, Lu, Shan, Chuan, and Yu architecture and sculpture. Who wouldn't be excited to see the Jade Emperor Temple and Water and Land Pavilion in Little Western Heaven, and the Thousand-Hand Guanyin in Dazu (crazy screenshots). Playing the game, I realized that I haven't been to many niche rural attractions in the past two years. Following Anyue Thousand Buddha Village, I found another treasure in Jinan - Shen Tong Temple Dragon Tiger Pagoda (coordinates: Jile Valley Sinful Pagoda Forest, after defeating the Old Ginseng Spirit, the essence will appear
The Dragon Tiger Pagoda is located south of the pagoda forest of Shen Tong Temple in Licheng District, Jinan City. There is no record of its construction date, but judging from its architectural style, the base and tower body should have been built in the late Tang Dynasty (846~907). The brick-carved imitation wood structure of the eaves and brackets seems to have been repaired during the Song Dynasty, and the tower top was recently rebuilt. Because there are dragons and tigers carved on the tower body, it is named after them. This pagoda is a single-story square pavilion-style pagoda, 12.27 meters high, with a three-story Xumi seat as the base. The tower body is made of one stone slab on each side, and there is a flame-shaped arched door in the center of each side. On both sides of the door and on the wall surface, there are reliefs of Buddha, disciples, Bodhisattvas, and strongmen, with dragons, tigers, flying apsaras, lotuses, and clouds as decorations. The images are vivid and the carvings are exquisite. The pagoda is decorated with a large number of reliefs, showing the trend of single-story pagodas from plain to ornate from the Sui Dynasty to the late Tang Dynasty.
In addition, there is a small Dragon Tiger Pagoda built during the Kaiyuan period in the scenic area, which is also very exquisite, but it is covered and can only be viewed through the wire mesh. Similar pagodas can also be found in the Shandong Museum and Qingzhou Museum.
The Simen Pagoda Scenic Area is far from Jinan City, but it is highly recommended. The environment is quiet and has an ancient atmosphere. The Simen Pagoda is the earliest existing single-story pagoda and the earliest stone pagoda in China. It was built in the seventh year of Daye (611) and was the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units in 1961, belonging to the same batch as the Big and Small Wild Goose Pagodas and the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda. The Dragon Tiger Pagoda was listed as the third batch of national key cultural relics in 1988 under the name of Thousand Buddha Cliff Statues.
