Ljubljana: The Green City, A Spiritual Oasis
Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, is a city embraced by greenery, a vibrant and charming city that has deeply captivated me. Unlike other bustling European capitals, it quietly tells its story with unique charm, leaving an indelible impression on me.
My journey in Ljubljana began with exploring the city. Ljubljana is a city with a long history, dating back to ancient times. The most captivating part is undoubtedly the beautiful Ljubljana Castle. I climbed up to the castle and overlooked the entire city, with a spectacular view. The scenery of Ljubljana's cityscape, with its ancient buildings, modern architecture, green parks, and the winding Ljubljanica River, forms a beautiful urban painting. Surrounded by mountains in the distance, the scenery is breathtaking. This was one of the most unforgettable moments of my time in Ljubljana.
The interior of the castle is equally impressive. I strolled through the corridors and rooms of the castle, admiring its architectural style and interior decorations, feeling the history and culture of the castle. There is also a museum inside the castle, exhibiting the history and culture of Ljubljana. I spent a considerable amount of time there, carefully exploring and learning more about the city.
After descending from the castle, I wandered through the cobblestone streets of Ljubljana's old town, admiring the ancient and exquisite buildings. Most of these buildings were constructed during the medieval and Baroque periods, with unique architectural styles that blend various elements, showcasing the architectural techniques and artistic levels of the time. I weaved through narrow streets and alleys, discovering hidden treasures: a small café with a rich aroma of coffee, an unassuming bookstore with a variety of books, or a mural on the wall telling an ancient story.
The Ljubljanica River flows through the city, a distinctive feature of Ljubljana. I strolled along the riverbank, admiring the bridges and buildings along the river, feeling the unique charm of the city. The riverbanks are shaded by green trees, with beautiful scenery. Many people sit by the river, resting, chatting, and sunbathing, showcasing the leisurely and comfortable atmosphere of the city. I also took a boat ride on the river, enjoying the scenery of Ljubljana from different angles. The water is crystal clear, with stones and aquatic plants visible at the bottom, and occasionally, water birds can be seen on the surface, creating a beautiful scene.
Here are some small episodes from my journey that added fun and emotion to my Ljubljana trip:
Tasting local cuisine: I tasted local specialties of Ljubljana, such as 'jota' (a traditional Slovenian stew) and 'štruklji' (a traditional Slovenian dessert). These delicacies not only satisfied my taste buds but also gave me a sense of Slovenian culinary culture. I enjoyed a sumptuous dinner at a traditional Slovenian restaurant, with delicious dishes and friendly service.
Interacting with locals: I interacted with some locals who were warm and hospitable, introducing me to the culture and life of Ljubljana, giving me a deeper understanding of the city. Their friendliness and enthusiasm made me feel the simplicity and kindness of the Slovenian people. An elderly local lady, with her not-so-fluent English, told me ancient legends of Ljubljana, and her passion and sincerity deeply moved me.
Experiencing the Central Market: I took a stroll around the Central Market in Ljubljana, filled with various fresh produce, seafood, meat, and local handicrafts. The market was bustling with life, full of vitality, and I felt the local lifestyle. I also bought some local specialties as souvenirs to take home.
Spending tranquil time in Tivoli Park: I spent a peaceful afternoon in Tivoli Park, the largest park in Ljubljana, with lush greenery and beautiful scenery. I wandered through the park, admiring the beautiful landscape, feeling the tranquility and beauty of nature. The park also has a zoo and a botanical garden, where I spent a considerable amount of time exploring.
The greenery of Ljubljana is not only reflected in its parks and green spaces but also in its urban planning and the lifestyle of its citizens. The city places great emphasis on environmental protection, with well-developed public transportation, and people are accustomed to cycling. In Ljubljana, I felt the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature, experiencing the unique charm of the city.
My journey in Ljubljana was not just about sightseeing but also about experiencing life, feeling the culture, and discovering beauty. This green city, with its unique charm, deeply attracted and moved me. It is not just a travel destination but a spiritual oasis, a place I would love to visit again. Ljubljana, I will remember you, this green city, and that unforgettable journey.
