“Escape the hustle and bustle, into the tranquility of faith”
Escape the hustle and bustle of work life, and meaningfully recharge your mind and energy in a limited time. A trip to 3 temples in Guangzhou is the perfect answer. Each temple is not only a sacred place, but also clearly reflects the history, culture and beauty of ancient Chinese architecture.
Start praying at Liurong Temple (Liurong Temple /
Six Banyan Tree Temple / 六榕寺), one of the oldest and most famous temples in Guangzhou. It is symbolized by the tall octagonal “lotus” pagoda. The highlight of the temple is the peacefulness and the well-preserved ancient Chinese architecture.
Next, pray at Guangxiao Temple (Guangxiao Temple / 光孝寺), just a 15-minute walk from Liurong Temple. Guangxiao Temple is the oldest temple in Guangzhou, dating back thousands of years and used to be the center of Zen Buddhism in the past. The temple is quiet and you can feel the sacred energy. It is a place that provides deep peace of mind.
Then in the evening, travel to Dafo Temple or Big Buddha Temple (Dafo Temple / 大佛寺), located in the old city of Guangzhou. The highlight is the large Buddha statue enshrined in the main hall, creating a sense of sacredness and grandeur. After praying, walk for a few minutes and you will find Beijing Road (北京路). You can walk to enjoy the night atmosphere, go shopping, and stop by to taste delicious food here.

Temple of the Six Banyan Trees - Liurong Temple
Very nice and beautiful temple. The place is not big, but it is really cozy. The temple was built 1500 years ago. The tall pagoda is unfortunately off for climbing to the top. But you can enter other facilities there. The temple is located near other temples too, make sure to check this one, then 10 minutes walk to other historical sites nearby.
📍Address: No. 87, Liu Rong Road, Zhong Shan 6 Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, Guangdong province, China.
🕰️Business Hours: 08h - 17h every day
💰Average Price per Person: I entered for free, twice. I don’t remember paying for any ticket. But if you google online, it says 5yuan per person. #guangzhou #historyofchina #temple

Visit to Liurong Temple in Guangzhou, China 🇨🇳
Liurong Temple in Guangzhou, also known as the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees, offers a serene escape in the bustling city. As I approached the temple, the towering pagoda immediately caught my eye, standing gracefully amidst the lush greenery. The temple's intricate architecture, peaceful atmosphere, and the fragrance of incense created a deeply spiritual ambiance. Wandering through the halls, I admired the Buddha statues, each exuding tranquility and devotion. The temple’s pagoda, with its unique octagonal structure, provides a striking contrast against the modern cityscape. Surrounded by ancient trees, it felt like stepping back in time, offering a sense of calm and reflection in the heart of Guangzhou.
