It takes about 50 minutes by car from Nagoya to Ghibli Park, and the transportation is straightforward. The park is crowded, and once you leave a zone, you cannot re-enter, so pay attention if you want to buy souvenirs. Queuing is necessary for taking photos, but overall, the arrangement is good.

Aichi Prefecture's Ghibli Park has opened its new Witch Valley themed area to the Japanese media, featuring the Ghibli movies Kiki's Delivery Service and Howl's Moving Castle. The park will fully open all five major areas after its grand opening on March 16th. In Witch Valley, visitors can see Kiki's house from Kiki's Delivery Service and the Gutiokipanja bakery, where they can buy Aichi Prefecture's famous Uirō cake infused with Angel's Bell and other breads and sweets. It is not like USJ or Disneyland which have rides, this is more like a museum where you get to see Ghibli scenes come to life. The nearest station is Aichikyuhaku Kinenkoen Station. There are also limited meitetsu buses from Nagoya station to the Park. It is a must go for Ghibli fans. It is just so surreal and magical to see the sets. You can even see Totoro behind a bar table. So cute! There is also limited edition short Ghibli films for us to watch in a theatre. It changes seasonally. It was a really nice experience over there. I wish to visit the Ghibli museum in 2024

You can either take a train to Ai-Chikyuhaku Kinen Koen station or take a Meitetsu shuttle bus from Nagoya station to Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park. Unfortunately, these are not included in the JR Pass. Although they call it a themed park, it is more like a museum. You get to take lots of Ghibli scenes and see how they are created. There are some plagues at the entrance to record the history of this park and a convenience store - Lawson with souvenirs sold. Also there is a souvenir shop opposite to it, selling characters like Moonmin and his friends. A free museum showcasing the expo at 2005 is worthy to be visited, but the way to get in isn’t very clearly stated

Take the Higashiyama Line from Nagoya Subway Station and arrive at the terminal. After Fujigaoka Station, transfer to the maglev train to "Love Earth Expo Memorial Park Station". The maglev train is driverless and has a see-through design at the front and rear of the train. The view is broad and special. Getting There - take the Higashimaya Line from Nagoya Station to Fujigaoka Station then change to the Linimo till the Ai-Chikyuhaku-Kinen-Koen Station and take a nice walk into the Expo. Attractions - Aichi Earth Expo Memorial Park Hotels - none Food & Restaurants - some cafes/restaurants around but very limited choices. it’s a big area so do expect a lot of walking even to find food. Shopping - not many shopping, just souvenir shops selling some Totoro memorabilia and normal souvenir trinkets. Ticket - can be purchased at Family Mart’s kiosk machine. it does seem a little inconvenient to get to but it really worth the trip! we spent half a day there, the travel is quite a journey but you do have a nice view along the way plus the Linimo line is really cool! the very first and only magnetic line/train in the world, you can’t even feel it turn at the bends and it’s known to let you walk without swaying or falling! we tried it and it was so mind blowing, plus it was so smooth we fell asleep easily on the way back LOL the expo is HUGE, we almost got lost walking in but the view was so amazing that it didn’t matter where we were walking. there is a water park there too but it was closed when we went cause it was winter. there is also a tram to take if you don’t want to walk much and it brings you around the whole expo. the house itself needs tickets purchased earlier as it is a tour house exhibition/attraction. you get to see little Easter eggs from the movie, and even have a “find the object” game. tour guide will explain everything and is very friendly, even help us take pictures. you get more than enough time to look around, take lots of photos and play the game. 100% recommend visiting if you ever get the chance. especially if you are an avid fan of Studio Ghibli :) #wintergetaway #japan #studioghibli
