In addition to Henan, there is also a Laojun Mountain in Lijiang, Yunnan.
Laojunshan National Park,
Located in Yulong County, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province,
It is known in history as "the ancestor of all mountains in Yunnan Province".
According to legend, Laozi once made elixirs on this mountain, hence the name.
Laojun Mountain stretches for hundreds of miles.
Lying between the Lancang River and the Jinsha River, the main peak is 4,240 meters above sea level.
It is an important part of the national-level "Three Parallel Rivers" scenic area.
The main attractions include the Ninety-Nine Dragon Pond, the Rhododendron Forest, the Dawn Danxia Landform and the Xinzhu Hengduan Mountain Natural Botanical Garden.
✅Must experience: Watch the Danxia of Qiangui Mountain at dawn
Liming Qiangui Mountain is the core scenic spot of Laojun Mountain National Park.
It is the largest and highest-altitude Danxia landform area discovered in my country so far.
The biggest attraction is the rocks that have been weathered into giant scales, with red and round bags protruding from them.
Like turtle backs, numerous and dense,
It is a unique and magnificent sight among the Danxia scenery at dawn.
✅Must experience: Walking through the Ninety-nine Dragon Ponds
The Ninety-Nine Dragon Ponds are distributed in a series along the stream at the foot of the main peak on the north side of Laojun Mountain.
The scenic area is composed of nearly a hundred clear ponds of various sizes.
From the entrance of the scenic area, follow the plank road through the forest.
Walking across lakes and streams, you will discover various strange and beautiful scenery along the way.
The representative ones are:
(1) Mysterious colored boulders
On the way to Jiujiu Longtan, there are nine beautiful boulders.
They are of various shapes, thick and mysterious.
The local people call them "Nine Sons Stone".
(2) Azalea Sea
If you go around the Dragon Boat Festival,
You can also encounter a sea of rhododendrons and experience a different style.
Every year during the Dragon Boat Festival,
The nearby ethnic minorities gathered at the Laojun Mountain Pond to sing and dance.
There were so many people that it was called the local "Valentine's Day".
(3) Watching icicles in winter
In winter, the Jiujiu Longtan is covered with icicles.
It is a natural ice sculpture world, extremely beautiful.
✅Must experience: Check in at the Gradan Grassland
Geladan is located opposite the Qiangui Mountain Scenic Area, on the west side of the Jinsha River.
It is about 3,600 meters above sea level, with beautiful scenery and completely isolated from the world.
It is a "paradise" that is hard to find today.
In the morning, you can enjoy the wild flowers blooming everywhere.
In the evening, you can see the cattle and sheep of nearby herdsmen gradually gathering on the distant grassland to rest.
Set up tent here at night.
Drinking, chatting and watching the stars with friends is a good choice.
May to July every year is the most beautiful time of the Geladan Grassland.
In addition to various rhododendrons,
There are all kinds of magical flowers blooming on the grass.
Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple are bright and eye-catching colors.
✅Must experience: Explore the Jinsichang area
The Jinsichang area is located in the middle of Laojunshan National Park.
It is said that in ancient times, the Mu clan chieftain of Lijiang mined gold here and got the name.
It is the only undeveloped area among the four areas of Laojun Mountain.
It is also the core area of the park.
Strange peaks, magical waters, beautiful snow and sunrise are the four major scenic spots in the Jinsichang area.
Here is the highest peak of Laojun Mountain - Jinsiyu Peak, with an altitude of 4,515 meters.
Due to glacial erosion, the mountain is silver-gray.
It looks like silver stone and white jade in the sunlight, so it is also called Silver Mountain and Jade Peak.
There are dozens of lakes of different sizes surrounding the main peak.
Embraced by fir and azalea forests,
Together with the main peak, it forms the scene of "Golden Mountain and Jade Lake".
