| Perfect Weekend Getaway from Hangzhou On weekends, when the sun is shining, I always want to take my little one out for a walk. So we chose Ningbo, which is about a 2-hour drive from Hangzhou 🚗. The distance is perfect for a family road trip. 😉 🏠 We stayed at the Shangri-La Ningbo. I read online that the hotel is in the city center, and it really is! There are many attractions nearby, and it only takes 10–15 minutes to get to many of them. It's perfect for a trip. 😊 Nearby attractions: Catholic Church⛪️👉Old Bund👉Ningbo Museum of Art👉Drum Tower👉Moon Lake Park After arriving in Ningbo, the first thing we did was check in to the hotel. After checking in, we went to the nearby Old Bund. The Old Bund is full of European-style buildings. Walking through the streets and alleys, I felt like I was in a foreign country. It's also a great place to take photos. I recommend staying at the Shangri-La Ningbo🏨, especially their family suite, which is designed for children. The room has a slide🛝, swing, and building block table. My little one was immediately attracted to these fun things and was very excited. 😂 The bedding and room decor are also very child-friendly. The walls are decorated with cute cartoon characters, and the bedding is soft and comfortable, giving our family a great rest. 🥰 The large floor-to-ceiling windows offer a wide view. 😎 The cityscape of Ningbo and the confluence of the three rivers unfold like a painting before my eyes. When the sun shines in, the whole room is filled with warmth. Enjoying the welcome fruit and snacks prepared by the hotel while admiring the beautiful river view is so relaxing. The yellow croaker was very fresh and melted in my mouth. It was a hit with the whole family. 😍 Ningbo is the place for seafood! From Jiaxing to Ningbo, we took the highway. It gets dark early now, and driving is a bit tiring. I suggest driving during the day, as visibility is poor at night, and it's easy to get tired from focusing too much. The expressway was a bit congested, and we missed the exit. Fortunately, the earth is round, and we arrived at the hotel after an extra 20 minutes or so. The hotel was average. We had to wait half an hour for hot water when we checked in, so I didn't leave a review, let alone a bad review. I can understand that there was a malfunction and they had to repair it urgently. After checking in, we went out to find food. Our destination was Laowaitan, so we crossed the bridge and strolled for a while. Our goal was clear: to eat local Ningbo cuisine. Laowaitan is well built and very lively, with lots of people, bars, and bright lights. The buildings are distinctive and photogenic. The cultural tourism industry is thriving, and it's worth staying for a cup of coffee or a couple of beers. I was traveling with my wife. She likes taking photos, and I like sightseeing. We passed a bar, and a very proper and serious pretty girl said, "Hey, come on in." I said, "No, my wife is behind me." We found a restaurant with a lot of character, very close to Laowaitan. The dishes were all on display, and they looked delicious, especially the chicken, duck, fish, and meat. The restaurant was decorated in a simple and unadorned style, reminiscent of an ancient tavern. We ordered five dishes. The crab roe tofu pot was a specialty, the Dongpo pork was fatty but not greasy, the snow vegetable stewed yellow croaker was tender, the potato and onion was fragrant, the snow vegetable and egg was delicious, and the white rice and Ningbo beer were perfect. After eating and drinking, we continued sightseeing and taking photos. Across the river, we saw a huge, bright Xinhua Bookstore. It was the largest Xinhua Bookstore sign I had ever seen, so I had to take a photo and give it a thumbs up. The bookstore had a strong literary atmosphere, which is typical of Ningbo. We went back to the hotel to sleep. After breakfast the next morning, we strolled along the river, looking at Sanjiangkou and the skyline. When we arrived in Ningbo at night, I thought the place we were staying was average. But in the daytime, I realized it was a prime location. I have been to Ningbo many times, but I have never walked around so much, so it was a memorable experience. My next destination must be Tianyi Pavilion.

Sacred Heart Cathedral was originally built in 1872 and is located in the old bund of Ningbo, China. It is a stunning example of Gothic style architecture! The church was partially burned down in 2006 but has since been fully restored! The church is gorgeous and definitely worth checking out if you are in the old bund area! The stained glass windows were pretty and the gates around the church were very ornamental. If you like old churches or if you are an architecture nerd you won’t be disappointed! We visited at night and the church was lit up beautifully!
