A leisure afternoon cruise on Lake Thun 🚢
After visiting the Panorama bridge Sigriswil, we took the ferry from Gunten Dorf nearby back to Thun across the beautiful Lake Thun, the largest lake in the Bernese Oberland.
The two-hour boat trip on Lake Thun starts from Interlaken West, stopping at 10 jetties before ending at Thun. You can hop on the boat at any jetty as long as the timing is right. There is a restaurant on board which serves Swiss cuisine. If you don't feel like eating, you can just sit around while enjoying the stunning views of green meadows, forests and Swiss Alps beyond. You can also see five fairytale style castles located on different parts by the shores of Lake Thun.

Staying at Därligen, a picturesque small town in 🇨🇭
We stayed a few nights in Därligen, a peaceful and beautiful small town at the south shore of Lake Thun 6 km from Interlaken. The only way to reach our accommodation by public transport is taking bus 60 from either Interlaken or Spiez train station, which departs at a regular interval of 30 min. Waking up to the stunning views of Lake Thun made our stay worthwhile despite the slight inconvenience in transportation. Attractions that be reached in 1 hour from Därligen include Bern, the capital city of Switzerland, and Panorama bridge Sigriswil, which is well-known for being the film location of Korean drama Crash Landing on You.

Thun lake
Thun is a small town located on the shores of a lake. The Aare River flows through the city. The city of Thun is peaceful and simple. The highlight is the castle in the center of the city that can be seen from afar.
When it comes to the Bronze Age, when the Romans flourished, Thun became part of the Roman Empire. Today, the city is an important tourist city. Most tourists use this city as a starting point or destination for boat trips on the lake. The highlight of this city is that it is a small town on the shores of a lake and has the highest castle in the center of the city.

Swim in "God's Eyes"
Walk in Switzerland to experience the beauty of the world. Among the more than 1,500 lakes in Switzerland, the most important thing to miss is the Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, known as the God's Eyes. Whether it is the classic Swiss pastoral scenery on the shore or the alpine group along the coast. It can be said that it is the most beautiful combination of mountains and rivers.

Uncovering Switzerland's Hidden Treasures!
#solotrip
I ventured off the beaten path to discover Switzerland's breathtaking hidden gems. Thun's charming Old Town and picturesque lake shores set the tone for an unforgettable journey.
The thrilling pedestrian suspension bridge in Sigriswil offered panoramic views of the Bernese Alps and Lake Thun. Lauterbrunnen's majestic Staubbach Falls left me awestruck.
Interlaken's serene atmosphere and adventure activities made it a highlight. But the true showstopper was Iseltwald's stunning Lake Brienz, where I relived memories of Crash Landing On You.
Switzerland's natural beauty, rich history, and warm hospitality have captivated me.

When visiting Switzerland, besides the magnificent mountains and the beautiful snowy scenery throughout the seasons, the lakes are also one of the natural wonders that cannot be missed. Lake Thun (Thunersee) is located in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland, surrounded by the majestic Alps. The lake is famous for its stunning views, crystal clear waters, and many attractions around it. Tourists can take a boat ride around the lake to enjoy the beautiful scenery. There are modern steamboats and boats that offer tours around the lake with stops at various small towns and villages around it. Located in the town of Thun at the eastern end of the lake, the castle offers spectacular views over the lake and the town. Inside the castle is a museum displaying local history and medieval artifacts. Another castle on the lake, Oberhofen, offers beautiful gardens and an interesting art collection. The castle also has a tower that juts out over the lake, giving it a romantic atmosphere. The area around Lake Thun has many hiking and biking trails that offer spectacular views. One popular route is to the Niesen Mountain, which is referred to as the “Swiss Pyramid” because of its unique shape. Spiez: Discover the Jewel by Lake Thun in a Poetic Land! 🇨🇭
Located in the southeast of Bern, Spiez is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, clear water, and fresh air. It is known as the most beautiful town in Switzerland and is a famous resort for holidays and water sports. 🏞️🇨🇭
Spiez Castle
The exterior architectural style of Spiez Castle is medieval Bernese style, and the interior decoration is a combination of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque art forms. It is one of the few historical sites in Switzerland. The exhibits in the museum are relics of previous owners of the castle and ancient furniture. 🏰

Golden Rays at Interlaken: A Marvel of Light and Snow
#europetrip
Interlaken, a jewel in the heart of Switzerland, offers a breathtaking spectacle where golden rays meet the pristine snow-capped mountains. This natural phenomenon, where sunlight dramatically illuminates the alpine peaks, creates a visual poetry that captivates visitors and locals alike.
A Stunning Display of Nature's Artistry
The magic happens during the early mornings and late evenings when the sun’s rays angle perfectly with the peaks, causing them to glow with a brilliant gold. This golden light, contrasting sharply against the crisp white of the snow and the deep blues of the sky, presents a mesmerizing scene. The effect is not just beautiful but also fleeting, which makes witnessing it feel all the more special and rewarding.
Ideal for Photographers and Nature Lovers
For photographers, these moments of golden illumination are a dream, offering a chance to capture the transient beauty of light and landscape in perfect harmony. Nature lovers and hikers will also find this time ideal for experiencing the tranquil yet awe-inspiring atmosphere of the Alps, as the mountains bask in the sun’s glow.
Accessible Vantage Points
Several vantage points around Interlaken provide spectacular views of this phenomenon. Whether you choose to watch from a lakeside position or take a short hike up neighboring hills, each spot offers a unique perspective on the illuminated peaks. Popular spots like Harder Kulm or the trails leading around Lake Thun are excellent choices for catching the golden rays.
Visitor Tips
- Timing is Everything: To catch the mountains in their golden glory, aim to be in place either during sunrise or an hour before sunset. These are the times when the angle of the sun is just right.
- Weather Check: Clear days are ideal for viewing the golden rays, so it’s wise to check the weather forecast before planning your outing.
- Dress Appropriately: Mornings and evenings can be chilly, especially at higher elevations, so dress warmly and in layers.

🇨🇭 Picturesque Gunten Pier @ Lake Thun
Gunten Pier is one of the most beautiful piers that I have been to. The pier offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the lake, and is a popular spot for boat cruises, fishing, and relaxation. We found this hidden gem by chance after visiting the Panorama bridge Sigriswil as we wanted to try the ferry ride on Lake Thun, the largest lake in the Bernese Oberland. We took bus 25 from Sigriswil and alighted at Gunten Dorf. The pier is a short walk away from the bus stop. It can also be reached by taking bus 25 from Thun or bus 21 from either Interlaken or Thun train station. Check the ferry schedule in advance. If you have a Swiss Travel Pass, the ferry ride and bus ride are free!

beautiful lake at switzerland
muhdnaim
Interlaken in Switzerland is a well-known tourist destination, and many tourists come to the Queen of the Alps Jungfrau. In fact, Lake Brienz and Lake Thun on both sides of Interlaken are also picturesque places. These two lakes are also known as "God's left and right eyes."
Thun Lake is on the west side of Interlaken, with a long and narrow crescent shape, named after the city of Thun on the lake. Lake Thun's lake comes from Lake Brienz, where the water level is higher than it is, and it is said that the original and east neighbor of Lake Brienz is a lake that was later separated. The colors of the two lakes are also different. Lake Thun is blue and Brienz Lake is green.
It is very convenient to visit Lake Thun. You can buy a ticket to Thun at the pier on the west side of Interlaken. There are regular shifts every day. The Thun Lake cruise is not only for sightseeing, it is also one of the means of transportation for nearby residents. During the journey to Thun, the cruise will stop in several towns on both sides of the North and South.
Swiss town on the shore of Lake Thun, the hillside behind the green grass, a lake and mountains, the scenery is pleasant. This lush green hillside, red roof, quiet waterfront is a typical Swiss scenery. I want to come to enjoy life in such a beautiful environment. Many local people have boats in their homes, and they often go boating on the lake from time to time.
Around Lake Thun, there are many historical sites. One of the Oberhofen Castles, the medieval castle in the town of Hofen, was built in the 13th century and has been a major cultural property of Switzerland for centuries. It is now a museum.
ZIMO.
Almost all visitors come to Interlaken to go to the Jungfrau, but often ignore the meaning of Interlaken itself between the two lakes - the town is on Lake Thun and Lake Brien Between, that is "God's left and right eyes."
At dusk, taking a ferry from Interlaken to Thun, all the way to the breeze, the sun is shining, the towns of Spiez and Oberhofen passing by are all lakes and mountains, and they are far-sighted. You can also see the snowy peaks in the distance. Like the train, the local Swiss used the cruise ship as a bus, and the boat continued to shuttle between the north and south of Lake Thun.
I slipped to the stern, a Swiss "Mega" with a long beard of Guanyun was eating ice cream in the United States, knowing how he did not soil his beard, and the French couple sitting next to me It seems that wherever I went, I couldnt forget the romance of France. From the time I got on the boat, they took out a bottle of red wine and sipped in the water while chatting and immersed themselves in the lake.
