Driving from Chitose towards Tokachi, we checked in at the Tokachi Ranch full of dairy cows🐄 and visited the filming location of the underwater railway tracks from 'Spirited Away' at Lake Shikaribetsu🛤️ and stayed there for one night. Lake Shikaribetsu is the only natural lake in Daisetsuzan National Park At an altitude of 810 meters, it is the highest lake in Hokkaido, with the deepest part of the lake bed reaching 100 meters.🌊 The lake is surrounded by primeval forests, and driving around the lake, you can see many white birch trees and various road signs that you don't see in Tokyo. It is said that the forest is home to the 'Pika', an endangered small animal that looks like a rabbit🐰 but has the stature and demeanor of a mouse🐭 and has been around since the Ice Age. The room I stayed in faced Lake Shikaribetsu (picture 12) and the mountain outside the window reflected on the lake surface, forming the shape of a big mouth👄.
