[Bolivia, Uyuni] Tips for conquering the Uyuni Salt Flats
#OverseasTravelTactics
①Book your flight at least one month in advance
The Uyuni Salt Flats are especially popular during the rainy season, and you may find yourself unable to book a flight on your desired date! I was one of those people. 😭 It seems that you can also travel comfortably by express bus, but if you want to get there quickly or are worried about getting car sickness, I recommend using a plane. ✨ In order to get a flight on your desired date, you need to make a reservation at least two months in advance! ! In addition, flight delays seem to be commonplace, so you need to plan your schedule with plenty of leeway. 🙆♀️
Also, it's safer to book a ticket that allows you to cancel or change the date!
②Bring warm clothes, there are very few toilets.
You should be especially careful with tours to see the sunset and starry sky at the Uyuni Salt Flats, and tours to see the starry sky and sunrise. ⚠️ I participated in a 4-hour tour to see the sunset and starry sky, but there was never a toilet break. 💦 Participants who wanted to go to the toilet were encouraged to hide in their cars on the spot. Therefore, it is recommended to use the restroom beforehand, and to bring tissue paper and a long coat! If you are reluctant to use the restroom outside, water-absorbing pads may be useful. 🎵
Otherwise, it is important to protect yourself from the cold and not think too much about the restroom! I'm glad I brought gloves and socks with me!
③ If you want to look good in photos, be careful about the color of your boots and pants.
As you can see in the second photo of me, white boots stand out quite a bit with black pants. 😭 The tour company rented us boots, but we received them on a first-come, first-served basis, and we were given boots that fit our size. If you choose without thinking about anything and only look at the size, you may end up with a strange look on your feet like me,,💦 If you choose with color in mind, I think you will look better in photos💖
④ Be careful of altitude sickness. The Uyuni Salt Flats are at a very high altitude, so you need to be careful about altitude sickness. It may be so cold that you don't want to put anything in your mouth, but it may be a good idea to drink a lot of water! It's also a good idea to take preventative medication beforehand 👌
Since you're overseas, please enjoy yourself within your limits and take care of your own health ✨
