El Chaltén, Santa Cruz Province, Argentina

The logo of a famous outdoor brand named after this region is Fitz Roy on the Argentine side⛰️
Lake Torres, located about 10km one way from the village of El Chalten at the foot of the mountain, is a popular trekking course, and can only be climbed without heavy equipment during a limited period of time during the summer when there is no snow (winter in Japan).
However, it is quite a climb, and the last 1km or so is an extremely steep scree field that can really get you in the groove, so you need to be prepared at a minimum⚠️
Make sure to bring food, drinks, and removable clothing.
If you have a walking stick, it will be much easier!
This time, we climbed to see the red Fitz Roy on New Year's Day. It took me almost 5 hours to climb from midnight, and I was exhausted and almost gave up, but I made it just in time and was able to see the magnificent natural beauty with my own eyes 🙌
Fitz Roy seen from Lake Torres is exactly as the logo says, and I was so happy to come. I was truly moved 🥹
*The photos on the way were taken on the return journey.

Patagonia, Argentina, a paradise for mountaineering enthusiasts
This time, I flew to El Calafate in Argentina to hike in order to create a prototype for the Patagonia logo.
Laguna de los Tres is one of the most popular hiking routes in El Chaltén, Argentina. The hiking route is about 20 kilometers and takes about 8 to 10 hours round trip. The whole process requires adapting to the alpine terrain and changeable weather, but the scenery along the way is well worth the challenge.
This trail is considered a moderate to difficult hike. Although most of the road is flat, there are steep uphill sections near the lake, which require a certain amount of physical strength and endurance. Especially in the last few hundred meters uphill, the road surface is sometimes rugged and some places require climbing using both hands and feet. When you reach the lake, you will see a beautiful panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains, glaciers and the lake, which makes all the hard work worth it.
Note:
In mountainous areas, the weather changes very quickly. It is recommended to dress in an onion style, wear a windbreaker as the outermost layer, and prepare enough water and food. Especially in the fall and winter, when the weather is likely to become colder and windier, it is especially important to prepare windproof and warm gear.
Sightseeing along the way: During the hike, visitors can also enjoy the beautiful views of Laguna Sucia and Laguna de los Tres. The scenery along the way is very rich, ranging from virgin forests, grasslands to glacial lakes.

Gorgeous trek to Fitzroy 🏔️🌲🥾
When in Patagonia, make sure to add El Chalten and the Laguna de Los Tres hike to your list!
This stunning 15 mile trail through rocky paths and wooded areas winds past enormous glaciers and beautiful mountain scenery.
After ascending 3500 feet, you’ll reach the frosty blue Laguna de Los Tres at the base of Mount Fitzroy.
The weather at the top can be incredibly cold and windy, but if the weather cooperates, take a rest by the lake to enjoy a snack.
After reaching the summit of the trail, descend on foot back to El Chalten. The trail ends at the edge of town.
Tips:
🔹Take a bus to Rio Eléctrico to start the hike. This lets you cover 15 miles of one-way distance, rather than 7.5 each way out-and-back. Tour offices in town can set you up for this shuttle.
🔹There are many streams along this trail. Bring a filter to fill your own water bottles along the way.
🔹The weather is unpredictable. Be prepared for blaring sun, freezing winds, and even rain. Pack layers!
🔹Have fun and enjoy the view at the top!
