Le Havre port city
Le Havre is a major port city in the Seine-Maritime department in the Normandy region of northern France. It is situated on the right bank of the estuary of the river Seine on the Channel southwest of the Pays de Caux, very close to the Prime Meridian.
The name Le Havre means "the harbour" or "the port". Its inhabitants are known as Havrais or Havraises.
In 2005, UNESCO inscribed the central city of Le Havre as a World Heritage Site because of its unique post-WWII reconstruction and architecture. The André Malraux Modern Art Museum is the second of France for the number of impressionist paintings. The city has been awarded two flowers by the National Council of Towns and Villages in Bloom in the Competition of cities and villages in Bloom.

Le Havre, an old maritime tradition
Situated at the mouth of the River Seine, the port city of Le Havre was almost completely rebuilt after World War II. The unusual concrete architecture of Le Havre, designed by Auguste Perret, has resulted in the city centre becoming a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005. Highlights of Le Havre include the Perret show flat, impressive modern art museum and picturesque marina and beach. It is also an important cross-Channel ferry port and the largest container port in France.

Le Havre
❤Recommendation reason:
Le Havre is an important port city in the Normandy region of France, located at the estuary of the Seine River and bordering the English Channel.
🌟Highlights:
Le Havre was almost completely destroyed during the Normandy Landings in 1944. After the war, it was rebuilt by the famous architect Auguste Perret and became a model of modernist urban planning. In 2005, its city center was listed as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, hailed as "an outstanding example of post-war urban reconstruction."
👍Most Recommended:
[○] St. Joseph’s Church
Perret's masterpiece, the 107-meter-high lighthouse-style bell tower symbolizes rebirth, and the stained glass creates a stunning light and shadow effect.
[○] Malraux Museum
It houses a large collection of Impressionist paintings (Monet, Renoir, etc.) because Le Havre is the hometown of Impressionist painter Monet (his famous work "Impression, Sunrise" depicts the port here).
[○] Volcano Cultural Center
Designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, the white concrete building, shaped like a volcano, is a cultural landmark of the city.

Narrow House at Place Léon Meyer, France
After entering the French narrow house, I found that the furniture was fully furnished but the proportions were all narrow. Although it looked like a house from the outside, it felt like a child's toy inside. It was real but unusable. I felt like I had gone to a fairy tale magic house. It felt special. There was also the blue sky outside. The blue sky house was very integrated when taking pictures. It really felt like a fairy tale world. It was definitely a good place to play cards.

Le Havre, a bustling port city in Normandy, France, offers a unique blend of history, modernity, and coastal charm. Known for its post-war architecture, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site that has managed to reinvent itself while preserving its rich maritime legacy.
Start your journey at **Perret’s City Center**, a masterpiece of modernist architecture. Designed by Auguste Perret after the destruction during World War II, the grid-like layout and concrete buildings give the city a distinct look. Don’t miss the towering **St. Joseph's Church**, whose concrete spire serves as a lighthouse for both sailors and visitors alike.
For art lovers, **Musée d'Art Moderne André Malraux (MuMa)** is a must. It boasts one of the largest collections of impressionist paintings outside Paris, with works by Monet, Boudin, and Dufy. The museum’s glass walls offer stunning views of the sea, adding to the immersive experience.
Le Havre’s seafront is perfect for a relaxing stroll. The **Les Jardins Suspendus**, perched on a hill, provide panoramic views of the city and harbor. These botanical gardens, located in former military fortifications, offer a peaceful retreat with plants from around the world.
End your day at **Le Havre Beach**, where you can enjoy the pebble shore and colorful beach huts. As the sun sets, the horizon is dotted with ships entering and leaving the harbor, a perfect reflection of the city’s maritime soul.
Le Havre’s charm lies in its contrasts: the modernity of its architecture with the timelessness of the sea. It’s a city that has turned its turbulent past into a vibrant and welcoming future.
