Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is dedicated to Sugawara Michizane, known as the god of learning, and is a popular spot for students and visitors praying for academic success! When you visit, you can experience the traditional atmosphere of a Japanese shrine!
Another must-try in Dazaifu is the famous Umegae-mochi. This traditional sweet is a crispy rice cake filled with sweet red bean paste. You can easily find freshly baked, warm Umegae-mochi at the shops in front of Tenmangu Shrine.
Dazaifu is about a 30-minute train ride from Fukuoka, making it perfect for a day trip.
