Camping in the Käsivarsi Wilderness Area was an unforgettable experience! Nestled in the remote north of Finland, the landscape here is like stepping into another world. 🏕️ Located above the Arctic Circle, there’s no entrance fee, and the sheer isolation makes it a perfect escape into nature’s quiet beauty.
We set up camp near Lake Kilpisjärvi, surrounded by snowy peaks and crisp mountain air. Hiking through the wilderness, we came across Saana Fell, an iconic mountain and one of Finland’s most treasured spots. The trail to the summit was challenging but worth every step; the view from the top stretched across Finland, Norway, and Sweden, a true reward for nature lovers. As night fell, the magic of the Northern Lights began to dance above us. Watching the colors swirl against the dark sky, with only the sound of wind and wilderness, was beyond words.
Nearby, you can find traditional Finnish saunas and small local restaurants in Kilpisjärvi village. Warming up in a sauna after a day of trekking in the chill was the perfect end to each day. Käsivarsi Wilderness is untouched, rugged, and stunning—an adventure I’ll never forget.

I took a bus from Sariselka to Rovaniemi. It took about 3:30 to 4 hours.
Since there are rest areas and stops along the way, I don't think you have to worry about using the bathroom.
I had an aurora tour reservation in Rovaniemi, so after arriving, I looked around the city of Rovaniemi and the outside of the Arktikum Art Museum and rested at my accommodation. I was worried because the weather was very cloudy and rainy that day too 😭
Then, around 8 PM, I started hunting for the aurora with the guide's pick-up. I ran and ran to a place without clouds for a long time and communicated with other hunters while looking for the aurora.
And finally, I met the aurora. The aurora was so huge that it danced like a curtain that I had only heard about, and I was amazed. The tour guide was Korean, and he even took pictures for me. It was the best moment 😃
