Such a gem in the city! I went there with my partner in the morning, and it’s easy to get there either by bus or MTR. When we arrived, we saw many people doing tai chi there. Also there’re primary students having their excursions with the staffs touring them. It’s free for groups just you have book in advance. We slowly toured the park ourselves, read the illustrations and understood the history of Kowloon City. Everywhere was so quiet, clean, nicely kept and the staffs were friendly too. One still and humid summer evening, I visited the Kowloon Walled City, Hong Kong. The magic of the encroaching twilight lighting added to the mystique of the manicured gardens, waterways 🪷, pebble-stone paths and pagodas of Chinese-style architecture. Was this serene and quiet corner of Hong Kong really once a military fort? Could it really have been an ungoverned, over-populated enclave, housing up to 50,000 residents, nesting gangs and poverty in slum-like, rat-infested conditions? 🤔 Hard to believe! This beautiful park was opened in 1995 on the area of the former walled city. Historical artefacts, the southern gate and the yamen building remain as reminders of the very rich history. The Regal Oriental Hotel is nearby in Sa Po Road. Kowloon Walled City Park managed by The Leisure and Cultural Service Department is a historical park in Kowloon Territory. The park keeps the traces of imperial officials from the 15th century, which its archeological remains can be found next to the South Gate. The evidence of demolition of the wall during World War II, and later after Sino Declaration between Britain and China are recorded in this park as well. The park occupied 3 hectares area, and quiet enough for relax, or read a book. It opens for public every day from 06:30 AM to 11:00 PM, but the exhibition rooms only open from 10:00 AM until 06:00 PM, except Wednesday. No entrance fee needed. To get to the park, you can take MTR and stop at Sung Wong Toi MTR. The Park is around 10 minute walk from exit B1. Alternatively, you can use bus or minibus that pass Prince Edward Road east. Near by the park, you can find interesting street foods, and Thai restaurants to enjoy Thai cuisine! #park #historicalcity

After the opening of #MTR Sung Wong Tai Station, going to #KowloonCity is much more convenient than before. Take the MTR #Tuen Ma Line to #Songhuangtai Station and take Exit B to reach Kowloon City. If you want to have your stomach healed first, your first stop is Blossom on South Point Road. After lunch, we walked around Kowloon City. Walk through Yaqianlong Road and Houwang Road. Waffles and shrimp cakes I haven’t tried Fong Wing Kee’s satay beef yet. The luxury cake shop’s red background and white lettering signboard has been in Kowloon City for decades. Then walk to #KowloonwalledcityPark and enter through the south gate. When he walked into the park, Wofu was attracted by the pink flower. It turned out that it was called pink calyx flower, which was an unexpected harvest of Wofu's trip. The ruins of the South Gate, which is listed as a statutory monument, is one of the must-visit places in Kowloon Walled City Park. #springwander Kowloon Walled City Park is a unique spot! In the spring, the park is filled with beautiful flowers and trees. I went for a hike along the winding paths, taking in the interesting history of the area. The park is built on the site of the old Kowloon Walled City, and you can still see some of the old walls and ruins. As I walked, I felt so calm and fascinated. The spring air was fresh, and the flowers were lovely. I loved spotting the birds and reading about the history of the area. The hike was easy and enjoyable, and I felt so happy and content. It was a perfect way to spend a spring day, exploring a piece of Hong Kong's past!
