[Shizuoka Prefecture] Introducing Kakegawa Castle, a famous castle in the Tokai region!
Kakegawa Castle 🏯 in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture, was built by the Asahina clan, a vassal of the Imagawa clan, and during the Sengoku period, Yamauchi Kazutoyo took over and extensively remodeled the castle.
The beautiful castle, known as the "Famous Castle of the Tokaido Region," was lost in a major earthquake in 1854, but was restored in 1994 as Japan's first "full-scale wooden castle tower," and remains in its original form to this day.
If you climb the castle tower, you can see the Tokaido Shinkansen train running nearby, and enjoy a spectacular view of the city of Kakegawa.

This facility is wonderful. It was fun to have an interaction experience that you can't usually have.
The price is not as high as other facilities, so I think it's a reasonable price.
There were not only flying birds but also penguins.
You can hold the penguins and take photos for a fee on a first-come, first-served basis. When I say holding them, I mean taking photos with them while they're on your lap, but I don't think there are many facilities where you can interact with penguins to this extent. I went on a Sunday, but it seems like they were all sold out by 9:30.
In addition to penguins, you can also take photos with owls. The photo fee was also reasonable.
I think everyone gets to feed the parakeets, but they seemed to get full in the latter half of the day, and there were times when they didn't eat very well lol.
If you feed them early, more will come.
They seem to release different parakeets at different times, so I'm sure they'll flock to you at those times.
There is a wide variety of cute souvenirs, but there are only two cash registers, and it gets very crowded just before closing time, so it's best to choose your souvenirs early.

[Shizuoka] Near Kakegawa Station
I went to Kakegawa Station in Shizuoka Prefecture!
JR's Tokaido Main Line and the Tokai-Sanyo Shinkansen bullet trains pass through here.
Although only the Kodama train stops at this station, it's a convenient station for short trips as it's close to tourist spots such as Kakegawa Kachouen and Kakegawa Castle!
At the south exit, there's also a huge golden monument called "Gattai."

[Shizuoka] Hotels near Kakegawa Station with plenty of amenities
I stayed at Hotel Gen in Kakegawa, Shizuoka!
It's easy to get to, less than a 5-minute walk from the station.
The hotel has a clean, wooden interior.
The amenity bar next to the front desk not only has cleansing lotion, face wash, lotion, and milky lotion, but even face masks!
Some floors even have manga!

Shizuoka is known for its refreshing hamburger steak
Speaking of Shizuoka, it's "Sawayaka"!
Whenever I go to Shizuoka for business, I almost always stop by here.
My recommendation is the hamburger steak, which I recommend having half with salt and pepper and half with onion sauce.
The waiter will ask you if you'd like sauce on it, but just say you'll do it yourself.
Of course, there are other menu items besides the hamburger steak, but personally I recommend the rice porridge.

💰Price per person: 1,800 yen
Access🚗It took just under an hour to get there from Nagoya Interchange.
This place, where you can interact with many kinds of birds🦆, was the best place for bird lovers. You can even see the rare bird, the shoebill. You can also feed the birds, and I felt that the attraction of this park was that you could take pictures of communication with the birds.

Traveling to Shizuoka with my mother
I used the Go To Travel Campaign to save money on this trip!
I was nervous because a typhoon was approaching, but I returned safely without any problems.
I definitely wanted to eat Hamamatsu gyoza. There was a huge line at the restaurant in front of the station that I was aiming for, so I gave up and went to another restaurant. It was a little disappointing that the gyoza at Hamamatsu Gyoza, my first time at the original place, was different from what I had imagined. That is to say, they were very small, too crispy, the skin was hard, and they didn't feel juicy, and I got the impression that they were more like fried gyoza. Maybe I should have eaten them at a better place.
For sweets, I chose Nanaya, which I also wanted to go to. The strength of the matcha changes depending on the number, so it was fun to compare the taste.
The cake also had a fine sponge and was very delicious!
For dinner, I chose Sawayaka, which everyone knows and which I've always wanted to go to! I was surprised when I cut it. It's really red! It was the best for me, who likes rare gyoza. My mother thought it was a little strange. It might be a matter of likes and dislikes.
The next day, we had an early lunch, so we went to the market and ate at a restaurant. This shop is famous for the all-you-can-eat tuna until they say stop. They held it until the very last moment. It was very delicious.
The desserts were from the famous Abegawa Mochi shop. The taste was good, but the service was very disappointing. To be honest, it was so uncomfortable that I didn't feel like I was eating, and the customer service was awful. I never want to go there again.
At the end of the trip, I bought some Baumkuchen at an outlet store. Even though it was a little off-putting, it was fluffy and delicious.

[Shizuoka] Kakegawa Castle 🏯
Kakegawa Castle, known as the "Famous Castle of the Tokai Region," is a beautiful castle that was restored as the first full-scale wooden castle tower in Japan. 🏯✨
The castle tower overlooks the city of Kakegawa, and on sunny days, the view is particularly spectacular.
The adjacent "palace" is a valuable building that still exists as the residence of a feudal lord in the Edo period, and offers a glimpse into life at that time.
A charming spot where cherry blossoms color the area in spring and autumn leaves shine in autumn. 🍁🌸 You can enjoy history and nature while strolling around.

Hamburg restaurant that is only found in Shizuoka City📌
#Get a discount without relying on luck
Does anyone like eating hamburger like us? Today, we will introduce a restaurant that is only available in Shizuka City. The restaurant has many branches and is very popular among Japanese people.
Today, we will only be serving the branch in the mall. You can get a queue number at the shop and then go for a walk in the mall.
The recommended menu is the hamburger. You can choose the number of pieces and it will be served on a hot plate. After trying it, you will not be disappointed. I know why everyone is waiting in line. The other menus are also delicious and the prices are not too high. If anyone comes to see Mt. Fuji and passes this city, I recommend that you come and try it.

Zero distance to the birds!!
You can see a variety of birds and plants.
There are bird shows and you can experience feeding the birds.
It's so large that 3 hours will pass in the blink of an eye!
If you like birds, you might not be able to move forward easily.
The menus at the restaurant and cafe inside, and the miscellaneous goods and sweets at the souvenir shop are all very tasteful, and I wanted to buy everything, so I really enjoyed it until the very end without getting bored!
There was also a wide selection of ornamental plants, cacti, planters, etc., which was very appealing.
The security guards were very knowledgeable about parking, and they guided me to the parking lot, so it's a really comfortable facility.

Tsumagoi Resort @ Kakegawa, Shizuoka ⚽️
Tsumagoi Resort is a resort facility with a hotel pool and more!
I went there because I wanted to spend my time actively during my trip to Shizuoka 🚘
There is a large lawn, and you can rent equipment to play golf, soccer, badminton, table tennis, etc. 🏓
There is a circular bus that runs through the park, so even though it is a large site, I was able to get around comfortably 🚶♀️
It looks like it would be fun to visit during the autumn leaves season, so it's a place I'd like to visit again!
There is also a time when it is decorated with sparkling illuminations, so it is also recommended to visit on a date ✨

[Shizuoka Prefecture] Kakegawa Castle
It is the first fully restored wooden castle tower in the country, and the inside is apparently the same as the existing one.
It was early on a weekday, so there were hardly any tourists.
Kakegawa Castle was built by Hideyoshi's vassal Yamauchi Kazutoyo, who also starred in a historical drama, and is known as the "famous castle of the Tokai region."
You can go up to the castle tower, and on a clear day you can see Mt. Fuji. And when I went up there, I could see it! You can't go out onto the outer corridor of the castle tower, so I took this photo from inside.
The creaking sound of the wooden floors is also a distinctive feature^^
I've loved the atmosphere of these handwritten guides since the castle tower was under construction.

Tea sweets made by a tea shop
Speaking of tea, Shizuoka Prefecture. Among them, Kakegawa is famous for its deep-steamed tea.
And what do you want when drinking tea?
Yes, tea sweets, right? (laughs)
Tea shops in Shizuoka Prefecture are making a wide variety of sweets using their own products and opening cafes, making business efforts.
Mie Daiseicha in Kakegawa City makes tea sweets.
I visited at lunchtime, and they were very kind to me.
The shop, or rather the factory, is quite far up in the mountains in Kakegawa, so there are no customers, and since it's basically an online store, they seem to store their tea in the freezer, so I had to wait a little in the office until it was ready.
However, they gave me delicious tea and talked to me, so it wasn't a problem at all.
The dorayaki is made with a rare variety called "Kominami," so you can really taste the tea.
By the way, there are events held every now and then at the south exit of Kakegawa Station, and they often set up stalls at those events, so if you're lucky, you can buy tea at the station.
Also, the factory is on the way to "Awagatake," so it might be a good idea to stop by there.

I went to Kakegawa Kachouen
I went to Kakegawa Kachouen, which I had been curious about. Unfortunately it was raining, but it wasn't a problem since the viewing is basically done indoors. There were many owls at the entrance, ranging from small and cute to large. As the subjects don't move, you can take photos at any angle you like. You can enjoy it from the entrance. When you go inside, there are birds that are allowed to roam freely. There are birds that you can touch directly and birds that glide in groups, so it's fun to watch them. I recommend it as a place to visit with your family, so I think it's a good place.
