Kaga Onsen Town: A Tranquil Japanese Hot Spring Getaway You Won't Want to Miss!
Looking for a spontaneous hot spring getaway? Look no further than Kaga! This town sees very few international tourists, making it feel like a hidden gem forgotten by time. Remember to arrive before 3pm, or you'll miss out on the local ramen shops – and you don't want to miss that!
🌿The entire town is incredibly peaceful, as if time itself slows down here. Just steps from the hotel is the ancient Kaga Onsenkyo, where you can enjoy the hot springs for free in your hotel yukata. Across the street is the main public bathhouse, always bustling with locals looking to unwind. There's also a foot bath nearby, but the water was a bit too hot for my liking. After just five minutes of strolling, the town's tranquility had me longing to return to the hotel and relax.
🏨I stayed at Hoshino Resorts KAI Kaga. While I've had good experiences with Hoshino Resorts in the past, this one was a bit underwhelming. The public bathing area was disappointingly small, and the private onsen in my room offered no view. The two included meals, priced at 800 RMB, were also a letdown. I heard they serve crab in the winter, but currently, only beef and duck were available, which was a shame.
🌄Despite these shortcomings, Kaga's tranquility and the soothing hot springs made for a memorable experience. Next time, I'll definitely try one of the mountain onsen—perhaps there are more hidden gems waiting to be discovered!
💖Looking for a peaceful Japanese hot spring escape? Kaga is the place to be. Don't miss out!

📍Yamashiro Onsen Old General Bath
Kaga Onsenkyo is a hot spring town consisting of six areas, including three hot spring areas, a castle town, a fishing port, and a post town.
Yamashiro Onsen is the largest of the six.
Yamashiro Onsen's public bath, Kosoyu, is a restoration of a public bath (a public bath for hot springs) from the Meiji period.
Photography is prohibited in the bath itself, so there are no photos, but the light shining through the stained glass and sparkling on the hot water is very beautiful☀️
The rest area on the second floor is also relaxing and is my favorite.

Yamashiro Onsen Kosoyu/Ishikawa Prefecture.
Kosoyu, the symbol of Yamashiro Onsen♨️
It's a communal bath that retains the architectural style from the Meiji era🫢
Unfortunately, photography is prohibited in the hot spring, so I can't show you any pictures, but the atmosphere was really nice🥺🫶
It's convenient that it opens as early as 6 AM, and the morning bath felt great☺️
After warming up in the slightly hot spring, relaxing in the rest area on the second floor was the perfect way to cool down🍂
Admission fee: 700 yen

Kosoyu public bathhouse 山代温泉 総湯
#japantrip It was a hands-on facility where you could experience the bathing methods of the Meiji era, so you weren't able to take pictures inside the bathroom, but it was very interesting as there were replicas of the equipment from that time, such as hot water massage boards and stained glass.
This is a lack of research on my part, but l thought it was a normal public bath after a bike ride, so l was uncomfortable because I couldn't wash my body clean. I think it would be better to check in advance.
