I feel like I'm standing in the center of Kathmandu.
Kopan Monastery is located in the northeast corner of KTM, about 6-7 kilometers from the city center. It costs 500 NPR to take a taxi one way. There are three other temples nearby. However, standing on a small hill in the garden, surrounded by mountains, the entire Kathmandu is in front of you. The nearby airport and the Great Stupa are clearly visible, as if you are standing in the center.
Kopan is very quiet. It is free to visit. Tourists can enter the main hall, visit the garden, and stay in the exhibition room where the relics are enshrined under the guidance of a monk from China.
This is a Tibetan Buddhist temple. On the picturesque hilltop, there are currently more than 400 resident monks. The temple offers irregular courses and advanced studies, usually for a period of one week to ten days. During the event, guests can stay in the temple. The fee is all-inclusive (three meals, accommodation and courses).
