Zen temple of the Rinzai sect
It is located only 5 minutes away from the main street after Dazaihu.
Dazaihu is very crowded, but this place is very quiet and tidy.
It has an atmosphere that can never be captured in a picture.
Small one. Very peaceful, you can hear the ceremonies going on. Visit here during spring or autumn to see the best designed zen garden around.

Komyozenji Temple
Address: 2 Chome-16-1 Saifu, Dazaifu, Fukuoka 818-0117, Japan.
Getting there: Komyozenji Temple is located just a few steps south of Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine or about a five minute walk east of Dazaifu Station.
Highlights: Komyozenji is a Zen temple of the Rinzai sect of Japanese Buddhism that is located just south of Dazaifu's famous Tenmangu Shrine. The temple was founded in the middle of the Kamakura Period (1192-1333) by a disciple of the founder of Kyoto's Tofukuji Temple and belongs to the Tofukuji school of Rinzai Zen Buddhism.
The rear garden can be viewed from the main temple building. It is larger, and incorporates a lot of plant life in addition to its stones and pebbles. The garden's moss patches, rocks and pebbles are laid out as an abstract representation of large land and water bodies.

This shrine is around the corner of Dazaifu’s Tenmangu. U have to pay a small entrance fee. At the inner court, u can view the backyard’s beautiful scene. U can’t go down to the yard as they want to preserve the place. But there is a deck that u can stand there to take pictures. The scene is beautiful, n it’s within easy access from Hakata Station. Instead of taking a train, we took a bus from the Hakata Bus Termjnal (right next to the JR station) n it took us 45-50min only.
