Kokura Castle is located at Fukuoka, Japan. This nicely restored castle has a good mix of history and fun. Walkable from the Kokura train station. Kids and adults will enjoy riding the palanquin and sitting in on a samurai war council. The views are great from the top floor too. The castle is situated in the middle of the city. It provides a very peaceful place to walk and view the beautiful gardens. The castle is very popular during spring when the cherry blossom blooms but even other seasons, it is worth to visit.

When it comes to castles in Fukuoka, Kokura Castle is the place to visit.
I stopped by during my trip to Fukuoka.
The castle is illuminated at night, and its reflection in the moat
makes it even more beautiful and very captivating.
Located about a 10-minute walk from Kokura Station,
I enjoyed the fresh and fun sight of modern buildings coexisting with the castle.
From the end of October to early November,
the area around Kokura Castle is beautifully decorated
with bamboo lights during the Bamboo Light Festival.

【Kokura Diary】The perfect fusion of modernity and tradition
I set off from Hakata Station in the early morning, with the Shinkansen wind urging me on towards Kokura. An unplanned trip, just like that, started on a whim—Kokura, here I come!
🏙️ Cityscape:
Kokura greeted me with a symphony of skyscrapers and traditional buildings. Walking on the busy streets, I tried to capture the bits and pieces of city life with my camera. Sometimes looking up, the conversation between the distant mountains and the tall buildings tells the charm of Kokura.
🚶♂️ Street Steps:
On the streets of Kokura, vitality and history are intertwined. The cobblestone roads of the old street, the graffiti on the walls, seem to tell the stories of past and present. Any random shop or stall is the unique flavor of this city. Oh, and don't forget the Mont-bell store by the river, you might find a treasure! And the riverside cafe is the best seat to enjoy the passing pedestrians.
🏰 Historical Watch:
Kokura Castle is not just a tourist spot, it's more like a guardian of history. The castle becomes more solemn in the twilight, protecting the city's memories. Here, the echoes of history seem to reverberate in my ears, provoking deep thought.
📷 Must-Capture Highlights:
Walking through this city, every corner is a unique scene. Photography is not just about capturing images, it's a way for me to communicate with the city. Each photo records a part of this journey, each a unique memory.
🌆 Sunset Glow:
Outside Kokura Station, the afterglow of the sunset gradually falls asleep on the horizon, and I witness the city's transition from the hustle and bustle of the day to the tranquility of the night, the city's charm is more highlighted in this peace.
🍜 Culinary Exploration:
After a busy day, I finally found a ramen shop recommended by locals. Tasting the food with Kokura's characteristics, I feel like with every bite, I can sense the city's history and warmth.
🌙 Castle in the Night:
Kokura Castle at night is even more mysterious, the ancient castle is more solemn under the light. In this tranquility, I feel the sediment of history, enjoying the rare peace.
This day's trip to Kokura was a small escape from life. I experienced the new rhythm of the city, tried the food, and delved into the depths of culture. Kokura, this place full of vitality and charm, has left me with full memories and endless longing.

Kokura Castle in Katsuyama park 🇯🇵 🏰
#winhkflight
Kokura Castle was built on a plateau in the center of Kitakyushu City , making it very convenient for transportation. It was built by Hosokawa Tadaoki starting in 1602, with construction completed in 1608.
It is exceptionally popular with visitors. One reason is that famed swordmaster Miyamoto Musashi stayed in Kokura. The famous historical "Battle of Ganryu Island" between Miyamoto Musashi and his rival, Sasaki Kojiro, was also in Kokura.
The castle grounds are lovely, and the castle overlooks a new commercial complex called Riverwalk Kitakyushu with plenty of shopping, dining and entertainment possibilities. Nature lovers and birdwatchers will also enjoy a walk along the scenic Murasaki River, which gives the complex its name.
I want to travel to Hong Kong to visit modern garden with historic traits!

A new journey in the New Year, follow the footsteps of history and visit Kokura Castle
❤ Start the New Year with a trip to Kokura Castle.
🌟 Kokura Castle, located in Kokura of Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Kyushu, is also known as 'Katsuyama Castle,' 'Yukin Castle,' and 'Carp Castle' among others. Kokura Castle is very popular with tourists because Kokura is where the famous Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi once lived. The historical battle between Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro, known as the 'Battle of Funajima,' took place in the waters near Kokura.
👍 The castle tower of Kokura Castle consists of a 4-tiered 5-story main keep and a 1-tiered smaller keep, forming a connected tower structure. The top tier of the main keep is built in the Karahafu (also known as Nanban) style, featuring 'Sotomawari-en'—a balcony and railing set on the exterior wall of the keep. The Karahafu style is not only aesthetically pleasing but also makes the keep appear to have fewer stories from the outside. During the Tokugawa shogunate era, some daimyo's keeps adopted this style to avoid suspicion. From a practical standpoint, the protruding Sotomawari-en provides rain protection for the windows below. The current style was constructed by Hosokawa Tadaoki.
✅ The first floor is decorated in the style of the town below Kokura Castle, where visitors can take photos dressed in Edo period costumes, whether as samurai, ninja, or princesses. The second floor centers around Hosokawa Tadaoki, introducing his history from warfare to daily life, explained in detail for visitors. The third floor is dedicated to the stage of Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro, housing their beloved swords and offering interactive activities for participation. The fourth and fifth floors are observation decks, complete with a café bar for resting.
📍 Address: 2-1 Jonai, Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture.
💰 Admission: Adults 350 yen, middle school students 200 yen, elementary school students 100 yen. Discounted joint tickets for two or three museums are available.
🕙 Opening hours: 9:00-18:00 (April-October), 9:00-17:00 (November-March), open all year round.
🚉 Access: From Nishi-Kokura Station (Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu) Kagoshima Main Line, Nippo Main Line), it's about a 10-minute walk south. From Kokura Station (West Japan Railway Company (JR West) Sanyo Shinkansen, Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu) Kagoshima Main Line, Kitakyushu Monorail), it's about a 15-minute walk southwest.

The landmark of Kita-Kyushu or Kokura
#2024wish
This castle is located in the middle of the town near a water body and modern buildings. This castle is open to public and has an entry ticket. It gives a nice photo opportunity with classic Japanese architecture. This is the landmark of Kita-Kyushu or Kokura. This is close to the Kokura station and shopping area. This castle quite small compared to the Fukuoka or the Kumamoto castles, but this is beautiful and well designed.

A clean place: Kokura Hachiman Shrine
to Kokura in Kitakyushu, in addition to the must-go Kokura Castle, you must not miss the Gossip Shrine. It seems that every city has a place called the Yasaka Shrine. After reviewing the information, I found out that there are about 3,000 Yasaka Shrines in Japan! The Yasaka Shrine, which is famous in Kyoto, is the total body of these thousands of shrines.
Unlike the Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto, it is always crowded, and this shrine here is a very clean place. There are not many people who come to visit and worship in addition to a few ritual activities every month. On the third weekend of the 7th month of each year, a grand garden festival is held here, which is worth attending.
Although the area is small, but it is complete, there is a quiet painted horse trail, which is full of people's wish to pray. The shape of the painted horses varies from season to season, and there are now many cherry-shaped painted horses available only during the cherry blossom season.
Here is the order of the worship of science: first, you have to take a sigh of relief, shake the bell after casting the praying coin, and then take a deep sigh, take two hands and put your hands together to make a wish. Hey, then a squat and then squatting, it is the completion of the entire prayer process.
Location: This Yasaka Shrine in Ogura is next to the Ogura Castle. After visiting the Kokura Castle, you can reach the Yasaka Shrine by following the stone steps.

I did not expect this to be a good shopping and fun Kokura Castle h
to say that the distance from Fukuoka is close, and suitable for a day trip, I will be the first to push Kitakyushu. The most worthwhile place in Kitakyushu is the Ogura Castle, especially the season of cherry blossoms, and the 300 cherry blossoms around Ogura Castle, dotted with white guards, are really beautiful.
The size of Ogura Castle itself is not large. I thought there was not much to visit, but when I came, I went into the city to find out. I didn't expect it to be a very fun place!!
City: The city is divided into five floors, each with an exhibition area that can understand history and interact. There is an elevator in the city, so even elders with inconvenient legs and legs can visit.
1: Small theater, you can quickly understand the history of Kokura City through the form of a short film.
2: The small landscape model shows the evolution of the entire Ogura Edo era, even if you can't understand history. There is also an interactive area where you can experience 3D kimono dressing, archery games, and fun activities such as the sedan chair at the time.
3 layer: The swordsman Miyamoto Musashi once pressed the island's original chaos in Kokura town. Here, he can also take a picture with his sword holding a sword, which is suitable for posing a sword.
4: The place where various exhibitions are held, I am going to hold a comic exhibition
5 layer: I can't miss the 5th floor, which is a 360-degree lookout overlooking the surrounding scenery.
Kokura City Tickets: Adult 350 yen
Tour time: 1 hour

Kokura Castle is a castle in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. It may not be as famous as Osaka Castle, but it is the only castle in Fukuoka Prefecture that has been preserved to this day and has a history of more than 400 years. Although Xiaocang City is not large, the courtyard is exquisite. It is also a good place for locals to take a break. Ascending to the castle tower can be seen, I seem to see the prosperity of Ogura Castle in the Edo period.
Da-image.
Kokura has a shop called "Darum Hall", the owner is a grandmother, and Grandma is very famous in Japan. Entering here is a bit like walking into the late night cafeteria. The fried udon that can be seen all over Japan is actually born in Ogura. It is said that after the war, this restaurant called "DARUMA Hall", because the noodles used for fried noodles have been difficult to stock for a long time, so they used dry udon instead of creating this dish. Seasoning soy sauce is roughly divided into soy sauce and oyster sauce, but the characteristics of Ogura fried udon are on the noodles. The texture of the outer teeth is the advantage of using dry udon. Also, in Ogura, add an omelette to the fried udon called "Scorpio (Skylight)". The so-called "skylight" is the same as the appearance of the moon (egg yolk). If the semi-cooked egg yolk is mixed with udon, it can neutralize the flavor of some fried udon sauce. z

Sophie's Japan Kyushu Travel Kokura City
Kyushu beautiful places in the countryside, Hakata next door to the small warehouse, attractions only downtown Dacang City Tianshou Pavilion worth visiting.
Among the nearly 100 castles existing or rebuilt in Japan, Kyushu Kokura Castle is not large in scale. It seems that except for the whole building surrounded by the moat, when the river is not blown by the wind, the whole seat The reflection of the castle tower in the river is very beautiful. Moreover, its more unique architecture is that there are no eaves between the fourth and fifth floors of the Tianshou Pavilion, and the five-story building is larger than the four-story building and belongs to the Tang-style structure.
Unfortunately, the Tianshou Pavilion is now closed for maintenance. It will not be reopened until tomorrow. If it is a Japanese castle fan, it will be more disappointing.
