#DomesticTravel
~ Sukagawa, Fukushima Prefecture ~
Sukagawa City, Fukushima Prefecture.
This is the hometown of Eiji Tsuburaya, the director of Ultraman.
On Taimatsu Street in Sukagawa City, there are 13 monuments, including Ultraman and Gomora.
They appear suddenly in the city, so you'll be surprised when you see them for the first time.
It's irresistible for fans.
There is also the Eiji Tsuburaya Museum, where you can see special effects making-of videos.
Sukagawa City is also a sister city of the M78 Nebula, the Land of Light, the hometown of Ultraman.
The roads are clean, and you can see the mountains and rivers, so it's a great place.
It's relatively close to the airport, so if you go to Fukushima Prefecture, please visit it as one of your sightseeing spots.

Strolling in the small town - Sukagawa travel review
#2024TravelReview
Sugagawa, this small town is not as lively as big cities, but it impressed me with its leisurely atmosphere and unique charm. This is the hometown of Eiji Tsuburaya, the author of "Ultraman", so Ultraman-related elements can be seen everywhere. We visited the "Eiji Tsuburaya Memorial Museum" and learned about his creative process in detail. We also took photos with the Ultraman statue on the street. The children were very excited.
The natural scenery of the Sukagawa River is equally charming, with green river banks and small bridges and flowing water that are relaxing. The local hot springs are also worth a try and are a great choice for relaxation. This trip allowed me to feel the tranquility and warmth of a small Japanese town, and also left the children with a day full of memories.

Welcome to the world of special effects at the Sukagawa Special Effects Archive Center
Is it okay to enter for free?! This is an introduction to a place that can be enjoyed by both adults and children!
Apparently, Eiji Tsuburaya, famous for special effects, was born in Sukagawa, Fukushima Prefecture ☺️
So there is such a wonderful facility!
They show short movies and making-ofs made only with special effects without using CG in the projection room, so you definitely have to see them!!
Even if you are not familiar with special effects, it is very interesting and I learned a lot about what goes on behind the scenes, so I think that fans will love it!
In a world where CG has become commonplace as it has become more convenient, I was moved by the thought, effort, and hard work of the creators who continue to pursue realism one by one as in the past😭😭
In addition, the storage room also has miniatures and models that were actually used, and there was a lot to see😄
The diorama corner is also very beautiful, with each one carefully made. You can take some interesting photos, so please come and check it out♡

Sukagawa Peony Garden
#AccommodationReview
Sukagawa Peony Garden is one of Japan's leading peony viewing spots, located in Sukagawa City, Fukushima Prefecture. Every spring, many tourists visit to enjoy the beautiful peony flowers.
Sukagawa Peony Garden has about 700 varieties and about 1,200 peonies planted on its vast grounds, allowing visitors to enjoy peonies of various colors, shapes, and fragrances. Especially during the flowering season, the colorful peonies bloom all at once, creating a fantastic atmosphere in the garden.
In addition to peonies, the surrounding area of the Peony Garden is filled with seasonal flowers and beautiful nature. Flowers of every season, such as cherry blossoms and azaleas in spring, hydrangeas in summer, and autumn leaves in autumn, attract visitors.

Temple on Top
#thingstodo
I stopped by for a walk during the day on a weekday.
There were only a few worshipers as there was no particular event going on. The temple as a whole was well maintained and good. The location is on a slope, so it may be difficult for people with walking disabilities to get there, but there is a parking lot available.
There was also a place like a goshuin stamp shop, so I think they also sell goshuin stamps.

[Fukushima] Conveniently located! Recommended hotels for sightseeing in Fukushima
#DomesticTravel
~ Hotel Wing International Sukagawa ~
A hotel in Sukagawa City, Fukushima Prefecture.
I booked this time through Trip.com.
It's about a 20-minute walk from the station, but there are many restaurants nearby, so it was convenient.
The staff were kind, and I even got a limited edition gift.
You can pick up your pajamas and amenities at the front desk before heading to your room.
The water pressure in the room was good, so it was no problem just to sleep.
There's also an izakaya on the first floor, so it's convenient to go out for a drink and then go back to the hotel right away.
They have a lot of Fukushima local sake, and I also recommend the cheese with Nara pickles as a snack.
It's close to Fukushima Airport and Koriyama Station, so you can use both planes and the Shinkansen.
Please use this as a reference when looking for a hotel in Fukushima Prefecture.

[Until December!] Ghibli Exhibition in Fukushima!
When I visited Fukushima, I went to the "Animage and Ghibli Exhibition" which I had been interested in. The Sukagawa City Cultural Center is beautiful, close to Koriyama, and has plenty of parking, so it's ideal for coming by car.
As a Ghibli fan, it was very appealing with articles about old Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki, as well as special Animage bonuses!! Highly recommended!!! There were also exhibits of Gundam, Future Boy Conan, and Lupin the Third. There were collaboration menus in the area, and there was a wide selection of merchandise. The popular handkerchiefs and T-shirt designs were sold out as of September 19th, so they may sell out one after another!
This is an event I recommend to all Ghibli fans~!!! It was fun!
