During the Edo period, Mt. Oyama was popular among the common people as a sacred mountain. Although it is a mountain with an altitude of over 1,000m, it is popular because it is easy to climb. The hotel staff recommended Kōbōyama Kofun for cherry blossom viewing, and I’m so glad I went! 🙌 Compared to other popular spots, this one was quiet, peaceful, and almost surreal. The cherry trees here are gigantic (check out photo 10 if you go!), and when you reach the top, you’re surrounded by 4,000 blooming trees, forming a soft pink ocean 🌸🌊 🏞️ Below you lies the calm spread of Matsumoto City, and far in the distance, the snow-covered Japanese Alps complete the breathtaking panorama 🏔️💕 Walking along the paths between the blossoms, you hear the gentle rustle of petals falling, and the sweet fragrance of cherry blossoms fills the air. It’s one of those rare places where you just want to stop, close your eyes, and soak in the moment. We went hiking to "Kobo-yama Park", which is about 1 hour and 10 minutes away from Shinjuku! Kobo-yama Park is made up of three mountains: Mt. Asama, Mt. Gongen, and Mt. Kobo. It's a low mountain with a height of 243m, so even beginners can easily start hiking. It takes about an hour to reach the summit, so it's a great way to get some exercise after a long time. In early April, the Somei-Yoshino cherry blossoms are in full bloom, so you can see the vivid scenery. There are tables and chairs at various points on the way to the summit, so we recommend bringing a lunch box and relaxing! Mitake Shrine in Hadano City, Kanagawa Prefecture 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 The guardian deity of the former Hirazawa village, this shrine was called Mitake Zaosha during the Edo period. The deities enshrined are Yamato Takeru, Okuninushi, Sukunahikona, and Kushimachi. There are two large zelkova trees in the precincts, which are designated as preserved trees by Hadano City. Both are about 800 years old. Izumo Taisha Sagami Branch Shrine in Hadano City, Kanagawa Prefecture 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 This is a branch shrine of the Izumo Taisha sect that was given a branch of the deity by Izumo Taisha in 1888. It is known as the "Izumo-san of Kanto." In addition to the shimenawa ropes that are unique to Izumo Taisha, there are beautiful cherry trees on the grounds. The flower water fountain is also beautifully decorated with cherry blossoms. There is also a forest on the grounds called the "Thousand Year Forest." About 12,000 seedlings have been planted, and the rich nature is now protected. Further inside is the shrine of the Dragon and Snake God, and spring water is overflowing. This is a famous spring in Hadano City that has been selected as one of the 100 famous springs in Japan. Many people come here to collect the water. The amazing view continues even after passing the mountain lodge. The higher you climb, the better the view gets, and you can even see Mt. Fuji. From Sannoto, you descend hard, then climb back up again, continuing the ups and downs. This is the true joy of the Ybitsu Pass route. It's a little frustrating to have to go back down after all the effort you've put in, but I guess this is what mountain climbing is all about, so I keep climbing. #MountainClimbing #KanagawaPrefecture
