1 Day 2 National Parks in Rayong
Starting from Bangkok, a short holiday, just a normal Saturday and Sunday, but I really wanted to eat Tom Jo, which led to this trip. It just so happened that my friend wanted to go stamp the national park, so we invited each other to Rayong. I have to say that Tom Jo is a local food of Rayong, it’s very hard to find in Bangkok. I’ve been complaining about wanting to eat it for months.
Starting from Saturday morning, we left Bangkok, took the Bang Na expressway, we had to stop for lunch first, stopped at Chonburi, it took about 1 hour to get to Tang Liang Nguan restaurant, it’s a pork offal noodle soup with pickled mustard greens, you can add as much pork rinds as you want. When you get there, you have to order pork satay too. The owner said if you don’t order it, it’s like you didn’t come. We ordered the noodle soup, plain rice, overall it was quite delicious, not too expensive. The noodle soup was 70 baht, plain rice was 10 baht, pork satay was 7 baht per stick. **The restaurant only accepts cash.
Let’s continue, hunting for national park passport stamps. The place we’re going to is Khao Chamao-Khao Wong National Park. It took 2 hours to get from Chonburi to the national park. Oh, and what I didn’t expect was that we both forgot our national park passports, so we bought new ones to be done with it because we wouldn’t make it back in time. The entrance fee is 30 baht per person and 50 baht for a car. When you get there, if you have energy left, walk to the waterfall. There are 7 levels, and you have to go up the steps. Yes, those with bad knees like us, when you reach level 3, you will be tired. It is better to go back because we have to go eat lunch at Nai Dol Makham Tao restaurant, which is about 80 kilometers from the park. So we decided to walk down. We will come back to the other levels another day.
When we got the first stamp, we went to Nai Dol Makham Tao restaurant, which sells tom jo. It took about 1 hour. We arrived at the restaurant at about 3:30 PM because we spent time walking around the waterfall. After eating tom jai, it was about 4:30 PM. We decided to go to Khao Laem Ya National Park before checking in to our room because the park closes at 6 PM.
We arrived at the park at about 5 PM. The entrance fee is 30 baht per person and 50 baht for a car. There is a car to take us to the viewpoint. The view is beautiful. Those who want to watch the sunset can enjoy it quite well. But this way, we enjoyed the atmosphere until we were satisfied and then went back because we felt tired from walking up to the waterfall.
We came back to rest at the hotel. The initial plan was to eat grilled pork. In the end, I was tired, so I went back to sleep and ordered a Lineman to deliver the food.
Sunday morning, I had breakfast at the hotel, stopped by the 100-year-old market in Ban Phe, bought some souvenirs, and then went back.
Overall, it was okay, but the holiday was a bit short. If I had one more day, it would have been perfect. I wasn't in too much of a rush.
