Its name is derived from combining the six attributes of a perfect landscape garden: spaciousness, seclusion, artifice, antiquity, watercourses and panoramas. The garden appears totally natural but it's in fact man-made. It has many unique features, including the oldest Japanese fountain, raised root pine trees, a plum grove, winding streams with cherry trees on both sides. Now in early April, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and the sight of the pink flowers reflected in the still water is truly spectacular. Here you can also participate in a tea ceremony, a wonderful way to experience the elegance of Japanese culture. A visit I most definitely recommend!

It was designed by architect Ryuzo Shirae and completed in 2005. The glass and steel dome and the giant wooden gate resembling a torii gate present a very unique futuristic aesthetic. Another reason I like Kanazawa Station is that it is so popular! The Maeda family, who ruled the Kaga Domain (the present Ishikawa and Toyama areas) in feudal times, maintained the garden from generation to generation. It is regarded as one of the most beautiful feudal lords' gardens in Japan. Expansive traditional Japanese garden that is being maintained impeccably. There are many spots of historical significance which are denoted and explained in the park’s pamphlets, available at all the entrances. Tickets are 300 yen per person as of June 2024, and card payments are accepted at the entrances. There are multiple tearooms, vending machines and restrooms inside the park, as well as many benches that offer a respite for tired feet. The park has many interesting bird species, we were also fortunate to see a majestic crane. The park closes at 6 pm in summer, but monuments inside close an hour or two earlier.
