3 days and 2 nights travel guide to Surabaya, Indonesia, save it now!
Since Ijen was closed when we went there, we chose the route of 2 volcanoes and 2 waterfalls, which was a relatively easy three-day and two-night trip.
8.28 Landing at Juanda Airport in Surabaya - Hotel
Find a guide in advance (including airport pick-up and drop-off, as well as all itineraries, accommodation, attraction tickets and breakfast for three days and two nights). After arriving, find a currency exchange office to exchange for Indonesian rupiah (exchanged 250 US dollars at a domestic bank, with an exchange rate of 1:15000), then go to the digital mall to apply for a mobile phone card, which is about 130 yuan (45 GB), and then go to the hotel to check in.
8.29 Semeru Volcano Town - Blue Cotton Waterfall - Sebu Waterfall - Hotel
Depart at 5 am, the weather is slightly cool, you can wear a thin coat. There are many people taking pictures on the road, and there are also motorcycles of residents coming and going, so be careful. We later took pictures on the ridge of the field, which was very good. On the way back, you will pass by Blue Cotton Waterfall, where you can take pictures with the waterfall and Semeru Volcano, and you need to queue up to take pictures. After the photo shoot, we went back to the hotel for breakfast and checked out, and then went directly to Sewu Falls. There was a special guy here to lead us down the waterfall and take pictures (some check-in points require queuing, and the guy was very serious and kept wiping the water off the lens with a tissue). Be sure to wear river trekking shoes, and a waterproof phone bag is optional. There is a lot of water vapor near the waterfall, and your clothes will get soaked. Pay attention to sun protection! (It is easier to get sunburned after getting wet, and you will find your skin red and hot when you return to the hotel at night). It is not difficult to go down the waterfall. There are steps throughout the journey, and it is more tiring to go up. Prepare a change of clothes and change money, and change clothes after going down to prevent catching a cold. Then go to the hotel near Mount Bromo to check in.
8.30 Mount Bromo - Juanda Airport
We planned to leave at 1 a.m., so we stayed overnight. First take a car to the halfway point of the mountain to transfer to a jeep, and then take a jeep to the sunrise point. You need to walk a distance by yourself, remember the license plate of the jeep, and find the car after watching the sunrise. It was very cold in the early morning (I rented a cotton coat at a small shop on the mountainside for about 10 yuan, and bought a knitted hat with the word Bromo, which also cost 10 yuan. The top of the mountain was windy and dusty, so I had to wear a mask, preferably N95!) After watching the sunrise, I went down the mountain to a place to take pictures with the jeep, and then rode horses to the volcano (300k round trip for one person). The road was very dusty! Then I climbed a long flight of stairs to reach the crater, and I could hear the heartbeat of the earth. There was almost no protection at the crater, so I had to pay attention to safety! After coming down, I found my pony, returned to the jeep camp, and then changed cars to take us to the airport.
