【About Diving Certification】👈
1️⃣Types of Diving Certificates
OW (Entry-level)
Half-day theory class + 2 days of water courses, certified to dive <18 meters, age >10 years
AOW (Advanced)
2 days of underwater courses, certified to dive <30 meters, age >12 years
You must get OW before AOW. It's possible to get both at once if you're physically fit, but it's not recommended as diving is very exhausting.
Diving certificates are valid long-term and globally recognized, but AOW allows you to explore more dive sites.
.
2️⃣Certification Tips
Make sure to study the theory and watch the videos before entering the water, otherwise, you won't understand what the instructor is doing and can't communicate underwater, leading to confusion.
You don't need to know how to swim to get certified, but it helps.
You can't fly within 12 hours after one dive, and within 18 hours after two or more dives to avoid decompression sickness.
Prepare an electronic version of your ID photo; the instructor will issue the certificate the same night after passing.
.
3️⃣What to Bring for Your First Dive
✔️Rash guard (can be worn under the wetsuit for protection and sunblock)
✔️Prescription mask (wearing contact lenses underwater can be uncomfortable)
✔️Quick-dry towel (absorbs water quickly and dries fast)
✔️Dive socks (to prevent foot blisters), flip-flops
✔️Coral-friendly sunscreen, lip balm

This Beach in Malaysia is so Dreamy😍🇲🇾
#malaysiatrip
Originally, looking at the sea at night also has a different beauty. This is a place very close to the sky, as if the end of the world can be seen with the naked eye. All the stars in the sky are beautiful when you take a photo! Paired with glass, the sea is extremely beautiful, and the sea is too clean, which can also make people feel scared in the deep sea. It is particularly comfortable, and each room is equipped with an independent balcony and two lounge chairs. It is very quiet in the middle of the night, suitable for thinking about life in the open air. Looking at the sea and stars in the dark, it is a wonderful and special experience

Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort: A Perfect Guide to a Dreamy Wonderland
Sipadan, that dreamlike marine world, and Kapalai Dive Resort is its shining pearl.
🚗 Transportation: Located in East Malaysia, visitors can arrive at Tawau Airport from various places, then charter a car from Tawau Airport to the exclusive jetty in Sipadan town (you can choose the speedboat schedule according to your arrival time, address) for about a 45-minute speedboat ride. Tips: Those who get seasick can sit at the stern of the boat.
🚢 Arriving at Kapalai: Upon arrival at Kapalai, you will be greeted with a welcome drink (very delicious!). The staff will let guests rest in the restaurant for a while, then they will come to check you in personally. Rooms are generally assigned in advance (tips: if you are not satisfied with the assigned room number, you can try to ask the staff for a change. We told the staff we were on our honeymoon, and we were lucky to get the room with the best view, number 61!). If you arrive on the island in the morning, you can usually check into your room after dining, around one or two o'clock. During this free time, you can stroll around the island, take photos, and enjoy the beautiful scenery!
⚠️ Rooms 1-50 are generally close to the restaurant, with a less open view and older facilities, but the advantage is being close to the restaurant and having good signal reception.
Rooms 50-70 are newly built, with a broad view, beautiful scenery, and more modern facilities, but the signal is not very good, and it's more troublesome to call for a car.
Rooms 70-90 are closer to the artificial beach and are the furthest from the restaurant. The rooms are also very new, and you can see the trailing sand beach after the tide goes out.
🌊 The dining environment is very good, with a first-line jellyfish sea view, and the food is average. It is served in a buffet style, and there are some paid drinks and ice cream available!
🤿 As for snorkeling, snorkeling equipment needs to be rented for a fee. Snorkeling in the Kapalai lagoon is great, with many fish and beautiful corals, and we were lucky to see Nemo! (We didn't experience diving)
🌄 In the evening, you can also go to the artificial beach to watch the sunset, which is very beautiful. Personally, I think it compares well with the sunset at Tanjung Aru Beach in Kota Kinabalu!
Overall, Kapalai's jellyfish sea is very beautiful. The first time you see it, you will be shocked by such a beautiful sea. Compared to other resorts, it has better facilities and strong security. If your budget allows, definitely go for Kapalai.

Semporna has fulfilled all my fantasies about an island paradise
Malaysia's visa-free policy makes it even more convenient to visit Semporna! It boasts Malaysia's most beautiful islands🏝 and the only stateless sea gypsies, the Bajau Laut, in the world. The numerous islands, big and small, are scattered like pearls, forming a secret haven waiting to be discovered by the world~
Activities: There are various islands to explore according to personal preference. Mabul Island and Sipadan Island are more suitable for snorkeling🤿 and sea fishing, and also great for macro underwater photography. Kapalai Island, Mantabuan Island, and Timba Timba Island are perfect for leisure and photography. Mataking Island: Rich underwater resources, beautiful scenery, but only accessible to guests staying at the island's resort! On Bohey Dulang Island, you can hike and enjoy distant views. There are no direct flights to Semporna; you can choose to transfer through Kota Kinabalu. A longer transfer time might just reward you with a stunning sunset you won't regret.
Accommodation: The conditions in Semporna town are average, so it's recommended to book a better hotel near the jetty. Many might want to experience staying in an overwater bungalow! But don't blindly book one just because it's labeled as such, check the reviews or the environment. Some are built by locals and may have poor facilities!
Little tips: Use a Celcom SIM card. It's good to have some cash as many convenience stores and restaurants only accept cash. When encountering begging Bajau Laut children, don't give them anything, or you'll be surrounded by a group of kids asking for more. Overseas hotels do not provide free toothpaste and toothbrushes, so remember to bring your own!

Malaysia·Asia Semporna·Tawau Province
The taxi at the hotel entrance to the airport actually costs 45RM. It's really dark, and you have no place to complain, where is the city management? 110? Price Bureau?
The small and exquisite Kota Kinabalu airport is as convenient as taking a bus. After leaving the terminal, you directly board the plane. An hour's air bus stops at Tawau airport, which is equally delicate and cute. After leaving the airport, the reception staff of Kapalai has been waiting. After checking the return ticket, I relaxed the dual pressure of body and spirit. I seem to have heard the call of the sea. In fact, that is the wind howling on the bus.
An hour later, we arrived at Semporna Pier. The sea has already shown its blue in front of us. When the roaring engine plows a huge white wave mark on the sea, we almost feel dizzy with the tremor, and then breathe a big wave is quickly split, thousands of water droplets quickly hit the face and body, laughter and words are torn into pieces in the wind and waves.
More than half an hour of blurry state was terminated on the white and green sea surface. When the roar stopped, everything unreal quieted down. We gradually approached this paradise floating on the sea. The sun still shone brightly on the crystal clear sea water. The thick wooden fence supported the pier. Suddenly, hundreds of small fish swam past, and the bougainvillea bloomed brilliantly.
After filling out the form in the huge restaurant next to the pier, listening to the humorous explanation of the snorkeling area equipment rental meal time and other matters by the female administrator named Lisa, we took the keys of our rooms 30 and 31 and walked down the long wooden road under the sway of Guanyin lotus and bougainvillea.
This group of 52 wooden villas is like a huge faucet. From the neck to the outlet is the best view of rooms 21~51. Even-numbered rooms lie on the bed to see the endless sea, and a leap is the snorkeling area.
Although the sea breeze sweeps through the tall houses, it is still sweaty. After taking a shower, the body is still sticky in the wind full of salt and humidity. Junge can sleep soundly. I am so envious. What a good time and beautiful scenery~
The sea water under the scorching sun is full of temptation. Near is the shallow blue shining with wave light, far is the dark blue where seaweed lives, and the deep blue in the distant sea, as if the wind can change the color of the sea.
Then it gave me a big memory. Miss Tong changed into her swimsuit and pulled me down to the sea. When I walked down the near water platform, the warm sea water made me feel comfortable. The little guy rode on my back and was almost weightless under the buoyancy of the water. I saw the wooden platform opposite was close at hand, so I carried her ready to swim past. The water color in the middle was a bit dark. She was a little scared, her hands tightly strangled my neck, and her legs clamped me and I couldn't swim. I could hardly breathe and started to get nervous. I choked a mouthful of water, salty, and tried to continue swimming forward. She started to get excited again, laughing loudly, even trying to stand up. I started to sink, almost ready to call the lifeguard. Fortunately, I caught a isolation rope to rest, then struggled to the shore, got on the boardwalk, and found it was almost fifty or sixty meters away, a little scared.
The buffet is rich and colorful, all kinds of seafood, all kinds of meat, all kinds of fruits, all kinds of drinks, all kinds of pastries, eat until the lights are on, eat until the sunset, eat until.. uh.. can't eat anymore.

A low-key tourist destination! Semporna
Located in a county of Tawau City, Sabah, Malaysia, Semporna is an underestimated resort. Once just a small fishing village that couldn't be found on the map, it has now developed into a world-famous underwater tourism center.
Semporna has nearly twenty islands of different sizes, including the overwater bungalow Kapalai Island known in Southeast Asia, the one-island-one-hotel Mabul, the home of the sea gypsies Mabul Island, the hometown of sea fish Bum Bum Island, and the Tun Sakaran where you can overlook the panorama of Semporna. Each island has its unique features.
Here are some recommended islands:
Bum Bum Island: This is a typical private island with pure white beaches and a variety of beach houses and overwater bungalows to choose from. There are two resorts on the island.
Mataking Island: This island is larger in area, lush in vegetation, without overwater bungalows, only sea view and garden view cottages, very suitable for experiencing deep diving.
Kapalai Island: Strictly speaking, this is not an island, but a sandbar. The resorts on the island are all small wooden houses built on the water, which are popular honeymoon destinations for couples.
In addition, Tun Sakaran also has a marine park with eight islands of different sizes, including Gaya Island, Sleeping Beauty Island, Mandabuan and Meiga Island. Except for the military island where troops are stationed, the other three islands all have Bajau villages.

Want to go snorkeling? Tioman Island in Malaysia is definitely a great choice, with many businesses offering scuba diving certification. Most hotels in Tioman Island are equivalent to domestic guesthouses, but if conditions permit, you can stay at Kapalai Island or Mabul Island.
From Kuala Lumpur to Tawau, it takes about 3 hours by flight. If you book Kapalai, there are airport pick-up and pier transfer services available.
If staying in a regular town, be sure to ask about the airport transfer fee and the snorkeling fee.
Mataking Island has two islands, big and small. The water on the small island is clearer. You can snorkel but not go to the island. The small Mataking Island is a private island.

The Journey to the Three Islands
So this is about our trip to the islands of Timba-Timba Island, Mataking Island and Pom-Pom Island. This trip has been a long time coming because I had always wanted to experience the beauty of the islands nearby to Semporna, thus I had set foot on that journey with my family recently. It all started when we were searching for a to first get on to these islands, of course through legal methods hahah...
We came across this peculiar agency we found in the Jetty Pelancongan called Best Travels Agency, it is the outlet on the second last end of the right side of the entrance. Moving on, we inquired with the helpful assistant there for a package on which exact islands we are able to visit. There were 3 packages available covering 7 different islands but I won't go into a lot of that, if you're interested feel free to hit up Best Travels Agency.
Then, we got on the boat that's pretty comfy and the captain and its crew was friendly enough and helpful towards its passengers, helping with questions and photos. Our first destination, Timba-Timba Island was pretty peaceful and breathtaking the journey there. If you seldom go on waters you will have the privilege to experience the beauty of the seas, you will only come across the acres of waters but the scenery is somehow just breathtaking.
The trip was about 45 minutes away from the jetty so there's enough time for you to mesmerize the waters. Upon arriving, there wasn't much on the Island except a long stroke of sand a few lushes of greenery there and here but don't be fooled by that comment, the island itself is an absolute kinder box of beauty. A place purely for photos but you'll be able to get some of the best here and bring a decent camera and you're set for some photogenic materials.
Departing into our second island, Mataking, a beauty itself too. There was a hut that's selling food and so there and a place to relax and hang out with friends alike. There is also a place to take beautiful photos with and of course you can go on both ends of the islands too! A place to take a quick swim or picture, you can't go wrong with this island. After the break we had, eating our lunch. We went on snorkeling nearby the island, just on the left end shore. Though, some of the island is privatised so we can't place a foot there 😅. The waters there was beautiful though, so much coral and variety of fish and a joy to watch, a new world yet to discover for those who hasn't tried going under the depths of waters yet.
After around half an hour or so, we depart for our last island which is Pom-Pom. Nonetheless, we arrived near the shore of the island and wala, our second snorkeling session. Though, the waters weren't as pretty as Mataking, it was still majestic and calming to take a dip in these waters.
After half an hour or so, we headed back for Semporna, admiring the seas and having a good chat with everyone. A beautiful experience for me and my family.

Local Trip after Pandemic - Semporna
#celebratewithtrip
After the long pandemic, finally travelling is back! First choice for a local family trip, would be Semporna, Sabah! Of course, heard its beauty long time ago but haven’t got chance to pay a visit.
We booked the transportation to hotel by ourselves, the main reason is to save cost, this way save us about RM400/person!
For transportation, we found in FB, and the water chalet - Kapalai Resort we booked directly from the Resort as well. Back in May, they are offering one night stay but now at least 2 nights stay - included transportation from Tawau Airport to Semporna which we booked earlier on doesn’t.
For island hopping, you can actually book from tourism centre at Semporna town, they are offering few packages and negotiate.
Hotels in town are mostly 3 stars hotel, the reason could be most of the travellers came for island hopping, will not stay in the hotel for day time and there are plenty of water chalet available. Most convenient hotel would be those next to the pier.
Foods wise, mostly are halal food restaurants even it’s Chinese restaurants. Seafood are cheap and the taste it above average.
Kapalai Resort offered their own boat to their resort, which located next to tourism centre pier. It take about 30-40 minutes from town to Kapalai Resort. Along the way, just enjoy the clear sea water view. Once you reached the resort, believe me, this is the best view EVER! You are actually inside a transparent glass bottle, this is what I felt. They provide buffets for 4 meals a day including tea time! And main course are served with quality seafood. Large rooms with balcony and unlimited sea view, perfect! Security wise, there are armies around the resort, so I would say it is safe.
Must in your travel buckets list!#spooktaculartrip #tripblazers #fallingforfall #awesomepic #semporna #kapalairesort #sabah

Unique Water Resort with Heavenly Seascape
My sister and I took a 4 days trip to Semporna, Sabah, specifically to dive and to visit the famous Kapalai Resort. Kapalai Resort is all sort of wonderful, with breathtaking seascape surrounding you the moment you open your eyes in the morning, to the friendly customer service provided onboard. Every corner of the resort is absolutely instagrammable. Memorable.
We were lucky enough to be placed around the middle part of the resort; hence, we didn’t have to walk too far to the dining area. nevertheless, they provide buggy service to transport every guest to the dining hall so it’s all good. while you’re there, try our snorkelling around the area too! you can see ocean life around the resort like turtle and all sort of deep sea fishes. #beachlife #waterresort #diving #beaches #staycation

KAPALAI is located in Sabah, Malaysia, via Semporna Pier. Kapalai is a sandbank between Sipadan and Mabul Island. Because there is no typhoon here, you can build a water house on a coral reef. This is a diving spot and a great place to spend a holiday. The air is fresh, not very hot, but Kapalai's room has been very popular, more than 50 rooms, must be booked in advance, there are three days, two nights and four days and three nights to choose the price. In Kapalai, except for sleeping, eating, then snorkeling and taking pictures, isnt the rhythm of the holiday like this? Waiting for the sunrise every morning, then going back to sleep, sitting in the beach chair in the evening and waiting for the sunset. If you are lucky, you can hear the sound of the turtle coming out of the air when you sleep at night. It is a fairy-like day.

Kapalai Island is located in Semporna, Sabah, and it is not an island, but a sandbank between Sipadan and Mabul Island. A unique water house. Kapalai is adjacent to the world-class diving site of Sipadan, so the sea is crystal clear and has many underwater corals and marine life. It is a paradise for snorkeling and deep diving enthusiasts.
