[2024 Burqin Attraction] Travel Guide for Kanas River (Updated Nov)

From Urumqi we took a quick flight to kanas. it took about an hour to get there. After the usual Xinjiang police questionnaire we took a bus to kanas village area. We were offered a 400 rmb taxi but choose to take 35 rmb bus. Even the police were pushing the taxi. We landed at our hotel at 9:30pm. We headed out for food. The food is double the regular price in China so expect this. Also check if the hotel takes foreigners. The next day we got our Covid test. Be aware testing is from 9:30am -1pm. The line was about 30 minutes. The test appear in our health kit. We then took a shuttle to the lake area and it was straight forward from there. We walked most of the day and the sites were beautiful.

Altay's winter is a godsend.

North Xinjiang's winter is so beautiful that it doesn't seem real! Fairy Bay, Kanas River, Kanas Scenic Area In the Kanas Scenic Area, we visited Kanas Lake and returned to the tourist transfer center. We took the scenic area bus to visit the magical three bays: Fairy Bay, Moon Bay, and Wolong Bay. The bus traveled along the Kanas River on the mountain road, and we got off at the first stop, Fairy Bay. Fairy Bay is a swampy shallow beach formed by the Kanas River in the gentle mountain stream. Under the sunlight, the river water is colorful, and even the leaves on the trees sway and shine in the wind. It looks like countless pearls are scattered at will. Plus, there are often clouds and mists here, and the mountain scenery, river water, and leaves complement each other. The green birch forest, the blue Kanas River, and the red log cabin are extraordinary and transcendent, dreamlike, and like a fairyland. Fairy Bay is named after this. Looking at the lake surface against the light, it shines with fine light under the sunlight, as if countless pearls are scattered at will, so it is also called "Pearl Beach". When you enter Kanas, you will admire the mountains and rivers here, which are so natural and quiet. People entertain themselves between the mountains and rivers, feeling the beauty and grace of nature. On the Fairy Bay viewing platform, you can see the full view of Fairy Bay. The Kanas River is the main tributary of the Burqin River, and the upper source of the river is Kanas Lake.
