Those Forgotten Times | Kamphaeng Phet
[Those Forgotten Times | Strong City Walls] If you have time, you can continue to explore the area around Sukhothai. Kamphaeng Phet, located an hour's drive southwest of Sukhothai, was the most important border city of the Sukhothai Kingdom, responsible for defending against foreign invaders. Today, the two large areas of ruins are mostly hidden in dense forests, with few tourists, giving it a bit of an adventurous feel. Highlights include Wat Chang Rop, surrounded by 68 elephants, weathered Buddhist statues, and a giant reclining Buddha. Each important site also has a Chinese video introduction, which can be accessed by scanning a QR code, which is very nice.
