Aso Shrine
Located in the Aso region of Kumamoto, Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine is a historic shrine. As you step into the shrine, you will see the approach path surrounded by towering cedar trees, which are considered sacred and symbolize good fortune. The tranquility brought by these cedar trees makes you feel peaceful, allowing you to live in the moment without worrying about others' gazes.
If you happen to visit during misty or drizzly weather, the shrine takes on a fantastical and mysterious appearance, resembling an entrance to another world as depicted in animations. The approach path in the animation 'Hotarubi no Mori e' is based on this shrine.

Kamikōchi Kumanoza Shrine in Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture, Kyushu
Visiting the Kamikōchi Kumanoza Shrine in Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture, Kyushu, is like entering a fantasy world from an animation. The moss-covered torii gates along the approach, the large wind cave on the rock wall, every corner is filled with an ancient and mysterious atmosphere, sparking lively discussions on social media. This shrine has a long history, with its interior preserving a group of ancient tombs that may date back to the 4th or 5th century, serving as a center of ancient faith. The main deity worshipped here is the god of creation from Japanese mythology, and with many legends, the place is imbued with a mystical aura.
The tranquility and mystery of the worship hall and main hall contrast sharply with the approach path covered by greenery, exuding a unique charm. Particularly noteworthy is the 'Tohira Rock', said to be a wind cave from mythology, which is believed to help people overcome difficulties.
