[Shizuoka Prefecture] Introducing Kakegawa Castle, a famous castle in the Tokai region!
Kakegawa Castle 🏯 in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture, was built by the Asahina clan, a vassal of the Imagawa clan, and during the Sengoku period, Yamauchi Kazutoyo took over and extensively remodeled the castle.
The beautiful castle, known as the "Famous Castle of the Tokaido Region," was lost in a major earthquake in 1854, but was restored in 1994 as Japan's first "full-scale wooden castle tower," and remains in its original form to this day.
If you climb the castle tower, you can see the Tokaido Shinkansen train running nearby, and enjoy a spectacular view of the city of Kakegawa.
