Kaeng Tana is the largest rapid in the middle of the Mun River. In the middle of Kaeng Tana is a huge rocky island in the middle of the Mun River, which was formed by the two fast-flowing Mun Rivers and eroded into a rocky line approximately 1 meter high.
It is the 33rd national park in Thailand, covering an area of approximately 50,000 rai, covering Khong Chiam and Sirindhorn districts, Ubon Ratchathani province. The terrain is mostly flat and low hills with the Mun River and the Mekong River flowing through. The general forest is a goat forest or red forest. Within the Kaeng Tana National Park, there are many interesting tourist attractions such as Don Tana, an island that occurs across the Mun River and divides the Mun River into two streams. It covers an area of approximately 225 rai. The general area is dry evergreen forest. In the north of the island, there is a sandy beach for relaxation. The suspension bridge is a bridge that connects the park office to Don Tana and is the longest suspension bridge for pedestrians in Thailand. It can be used as a good viewpoint on both sides of the Mun River. Kaeng Tana is a section of the Mun River, next to Don Tana. In the middle of Kaeng Tana, there is a huge sandstone rock that is an island in the middle of the Mun River. If you look at the rock, you will see a square-shaped structure that was used as a tool to indicate the waterway for ships during the time when the French were colonizing. Tham Phra or Tham Phu Ma Nai is about 1 kilometer from the tourist service center. It is a cliff protruding from the Mun River. Inside the cave, there are stone inscriptions and a Shiva lingam (yoni base) dating back to the 12th-13th Buddhist centuries. Lan Pha Phueng is about 1.5 kilometers from the park office. It is a sandstone plateau and steep cliffs. The cliff faces east, so it can be used as a spot to watch the sunrise. Tad Ton Waterfall is a very beautiful waterfall, formed by Tad Ton Stream. Below the waterfall is a pool where you can swim. The best time to visit is from June to October. The park has bungalows and camping grounds. The price is 1,000-2,500 baht.
